I'm a local and go to Rout 66 only when I need to. They are the largest sporting goods store in the area and sell things smaller stores don't. However, will go to the smaller stores 1st because of the people. In smaller they will talk and joke and take time to answer your questions and are just more personable. Route 66 has no personality at all. I actually feel embarrassed when I have to ask a question. Route 66 is a nice store with everything you should need for anything outdoors but wear a jacket. Great store with a lot of product and a knowledgeable staff I would recommend this place to anyone

Went in search of a grill, as ours conked out while camping nearby. First thing noticed the woman (?) at front with surly expression on her face (which we could see because she was unmasked) did not greet us, just shot us a dirty look, maybe because we were masked to protect her lazy butt from potential disease?. Asked her if grills were included in the "huge sale" (they had one overpriced flimsy Coleman) & she says huh, with a blank look. On the sign, out front, says huge sale. She knew nothing about it. Made no attempt to ask or assist, then started following us around, it seemed, putting items n shelves near us with no apparent connection other than we were there. We decided to leave & there was no goodbye, thanks for stopping etc. We ended up finding a good one at Ace hardware in Brookville & the pleasant cheerful extent helpful gal the could not have been more of a contrast. ITS WORTH THE DRIVE. Had a boot blowout but drove by as under no circumstances would we go back there. read more

I just walked out of Route 66 sporting good store with the biggest smile on my face because I just had the best experience I have had in an archery store. I went in to buy a new Mathews bow and I made the mistake of coming early before the bow technician showed up and the owner called up both the bow technicians and they came in hours early before their shift started to take care of me. They let me shoot a variety of different bows the week prior. And I got to pick the bow out that I want it in the camo color that is $50 extra any other bow shop but not them. They set my new bow up with all my accessories from my other bow and got my draw length set and paper tuned it that it's now shooting bullet holes through the target. To go above and beyond and come to work early to take care of a customer is truly amazing and it shows the dedication they have to their customers. They have the best selection of camo options for their bows and they had the best prices too. There warranty is Lifetime service which blows my mind that they will take care of me for life. I've been in good bow shops and this just exceeded all of them. T read more
