Went for dinner. Service was friendly and helpful. The cocktails, which I remember really digging, fell flat this time. I got one w rye and rubarb, and it just tasted like a mike's hard lemonade. The mussels were delicious, fat and tender, swimming in a delicious broth that tasted more Thai than French, but really good. Came with a little baguette. The salmon was good, but should be listed as an appetizer. It's under the word 'grand' on the menu which literally means 'big.' Roux was great! Service was a bit slow for a weekday night but otherwise the food made up for it. I got a mocktail and it was refreshing. For appetizers we got the potted chicken and foie mousse which came along with sourdough and it was pretty good. For entrees, I got the chicken cutlet and my friend got the mussels. We both were happy with our food. Although we were pretty full, we made room for dessert. We got the coconut butter cake to share and it was really tasty! Definitely recommend! My friend and I stopped by Roux for dessert and ordered the crème brûlée. When we first walked in, we waited about five minutes before the hostess approached us, even though the restaurant was completely empty. She was sitting at the bar talking with someone, which wasn't the best first impression. We ended up grabbing seats at the bar to enjoy our dessert. The space itself is very cute, with a stylish bar area that gives off a New York City vibe. It wasn't busy during our visit, but I can imagine it getting pretty crowded during peak hours. One downside for me was how dark it was inside. It made it a little hard to see the person I was with. The crème brûlée was very good, though slightly sweeter than others I've tried. We came here for a nice dinner while visiting for the weekend and it was a nice experience. The atmosphere is great for a date night, but it is packed with tables. We were packed between 2 other parties and it felt like we were talking over each other a bit. Our waitress was friendly but we didn't chat with her very much. The food was all very good! We adored the summer squash appetizer and I loved the duck leg as a main course. My boyfriend enjoyed his chicken cutlet entree as well. We also enjoyed the French butter cake for dessert which was a yummy finish. The food did come out very quickly, so we were in and out within an hour. Amazing brunch at the bar! We did not make a reservation, so we took seats at the bar. What a treat! The staff was incredibly friendly as we watched them prepare not only our drinks, but everyone else's as well. I got the breakfast sandwich with a side of crispy potatoes. The sandwich was full of flavor, having a thick sausage patty, Gruyère cheese and a perfectly runny egg. The potatoes were very crunchy with a delicious horseradish sauce. My wife got the special of the day, biscuits and gravy. Two fluffy biscuits covered in a rich sauce/gravy. She also got a side of bacon that was savory and flavorful. My son got the Roux burger. I enjoyed happy hour at the bar with a beautifully balance Negroni. My starter was a truffle ceasar salad with salty rich parmesean and shaved croutons. The micro shave on the croutons gave a great texture twist that I have never tried on a ceasar. Probably my favorite of the Swan family restaurants. Great stuff on rotation and I always enjoyed their brunch. Some of the best French food you can get in the city. Though I wish their steak frites had a bit of a more generous portion of steak for the price. This is a nice restaurant to come to for date night, fancy dinners, celebrations, etc. We recommend reservations as it is a small restaurant space wise. It was packed when we got there. You have to expect to be seated close to other tables due to the spacing issue. I didn't order absinthe but my friends did and they really liked it. I ordered a Chardonnay and I was very happy with that. For the food, we went with the French onion soup, the Potted Chicken and Foie mousse for the table, the Chicken cutlet, and the Duck confit. The French Onion soup was delicious and a LOT! It was the perfect blend of onion, tart, salt, cheese and the goodness of a good onion soup. The potted chicken and foie mousse was very interesting and the baguette with it was delicious! I didn't end up finishing the chicken cutlet because of how heavy the soup was but I liked what I had - flat, fried and had a delicious remoulade on the side. My brother enjoyed his duck confit but felt it was a little small. He also finished my chicken cutlet. We didn't end up getting dessert but the cheesecake looked interesting. It is a pricey place so I recommend it for special occasions only. There is a parking lot about 2 blocks away. They do not validate parking. read more

I asked to be seated at our table and was told she Could not seat is there "she would get fired" I asked for the other side and she said it was reserved. 3.5 stars. Came to to celebrate a birthday dinner. Made a reservation well in advance since it fills up fast. This is located in a great location (park Ave) and they called to confirm the reservation. While the prices reflect upscale dining, this is a very casual place (which I usually enjoy), however, I wouldn't say the experience felt special though. We tried the crab toast, good fries (upgraded with parm and truffle oil), escargot and the branzino. Crab toast was good though I felt for the price point ($22), the crab was a bit scarce and it was very much drenched in mayo. I enjoyed the escargot the most; that was delicious with the right amount of garlic and butter. Good fries were a little soggy and had just the barest touch of parmesan and smallest hint of truffle flavor (not worth the $5 upcharge. The branzino was quite disappointing. It was very oily and the rice was undercooked and the whole dish was very bland. With 3 appetizers and a small entree (no drinks!), the bill was over $100 after tax and tip which amounted to very little food. If you do come here, I would recommend the escargot, but for the price, I don't think anything stood out enough to come back. read more

We had the fig and ricotta toast with honey and thyme and salt flakes. Sooooo good!! The ratatouille was a flavor bomb. Well, we haven't been here in a while and liked the new decor. Roux is always a nice surprise when it comes to menu items! First, we'd like to thank the bartender who recreated a rusty nail for my husband when they had no Courvoisier. Wow, what a wizard. Perfect drink. First was the beet salad which was very large and enough for two. Seasoned so nicely and just a beautiful dish. I had the Fried Chicken Cutlet and loved it (It was huge) but the coleslaw stole the show for sure. Hubs had muscles and loved them, and ate all the broth as well!
