    BEET SALAD
    Cal L.

This place was really, really good. Too often, hotel restaurants get away with the bare minimum. Hotels have to have a restaurant to capture the captive audience staying there that is too lazy to venture out to eat. However, I thought that the Erie Grill is worth a special trip even if you're not staying there. I had a business meeting, and our server Johanna was polite, courteous, and attentive. The food was exceptional: we shared a beet salad, which they were nice enough to put on two separate plates for us. I also ordered the lamb loin, which was cooked to a perfect medium. The scalloped Parmesan potatoes on it were delicious. There was bar seating, high top, seating, and regular table seating. The place was pretty busy for a Monday night. Looking forward to my next trip here!

We dined at Eerie grill from our way back from Rochester. It is located inside of a hotel by the canal. The restaurant has a pretty view to the water. Ambiance is classy. I had their burger and it was cooked perfectly. We also had their bottle of Pinot Gris and it was superb. Our waiter was sweet and the host greeted me with the biggest smile I've seen in a while. I really enjoyed this restaurant and I will be back soon.

2025 Update: This year, we only had time for a quick hamburger and an Espresso Martini. Both were perfect.

Decided to stop here for a quick lunch. The soft tone of the music blended well with the view of the outdoor scenery. Stepped out of my comfort zone and decided to try the Ahi Tuna Tacos. I was quite shocked that I enjoyed them, because food texture is a deal breaker for me. However, these tacos did not disappoint. My soup of the day was French Onion, and man was it good! Service was eh-okay.

I did not expect to find such a nice place in this area of NY. You walk in and it's a beautiful high end hotel. Then you walk in to the Erie Grill and it continues with the theme of the hotel. I first went in for drinks and dinner on Friday night and then breakfast during the weekend. Everything I ate was delicious. The bartender was a good dude and a real baseball fan. Every time I go back to this area I will visit this spot for sure.

First time visit to the Erie Grill With my daughter while she was home from school... We had a nice time on half off wine Wednesday... Sampled two nice bottles While sitting at a beautiful bar. Service was friendly and efficient. Definitely a spot I will try again especially once the weather improves and do you have views out to the canal

I would be remiss to not update my review after our second dining experience here. Unfortunately, it did not live up to my glowing statements... I ordered the pricey Huevos Rancheros expecting something awesome to justify the $19 price tag and to my horror it was nothing like what I expected. It seemed like ground beef with taco seasoning, not chorizo sausage, plopped on dry corn tortillas with canned beans and avocado and two eggs. Overall it was very dry, and the most offensive part is that I could've made it at home. I never want to order a $19 food item that I could've made at home. Tasty, yes, impressive, no. My partner's corn beef hash with eggs was good, but his request for over easy eggs was met with dry yolks. Eeek. I'm keeping it at 4 stars because our first experience was so delicious and I loved their pancakes. We will probably go back again, and I would recommend it... but please dont order the Huevos Rancheros. ...Looking forward to reading your review, reader!

The server was very good but the pizza took a very long time to arrive. It appeared they may have been understaffed. We had a Pepperoni and mushroom Pizza that was good but one piece had something on it that tasted and looked like a piece of meat fat. We advised and showed the server what we found and she said it appeared to be chicken. (It was inedible grissel) We have never experienced that with a Pizza and was potentially a health hazard. It did appear that they have declined since our last visit.

It is kind of hard to find a restaurant if one is not familiar with the area. I got there late, and the food was not served yet. I ordered my food, and then, we all got the food at the same time. Good. Two pounds of mussels across from me were shared by some at the table. I saw pastas, fried calamari, and Steak Salad(I was not too impressed by it), I got the Pork Chop. It was tender, although I ordered cook well done. The sauce was delicious. It came with Shoestring Fries. Tasty. A glass of Precose to wash everything down. Refreshing Caitlin, our server, was excellent. I told her to bring the special Orange Chocolate Torte for the Birthday Girl with a little candle, and she did in the end. It was a big enough piece of cake that we shared it after singing Las Mañanitas to her. We left happy.

We were quoted about a 40-minute wait for a table, but told bar seating might open up sooner (around 30 minutes). They took my number and we stepped outside to take a walk around the block while we waited. We ended up getting a text about the bar seat availability in about 15 minutes. Once we got seated at the bar, things turned around quickly. The space has a really cozy, intimate vibe with dim lighting, warm atmosphere and overall it feels thoughtfully put together. We ordered hot toddies to drink, which were perfect for the weather, and for food we got the Japanese sweet potatoes and the cavolo nero pesto. Both dishes were incredibly delicious - flavorful and well-balanced. Just be prepared for a wait (and maybe stay nearby instead of wandering off), but once you're in, it's a great experience!

It's a small space inside but it's designed well enough to manage a flow of traffic for customers and staff. We sat in the back greenhouse area. I think the least enjoyable part of our experience was how loud it was in the restaurant. Definitely not a good spot if you're trying to catch up with someone and your voice doesn't carry. I couldn't actually hear the specials the server was telling us. I want to try out Vern's again, so I may wait until there's an outdoor table or ask to sit in the second level to see if that's quieter. We tried one of their spring menu appetizer items, the Japanese sweet potatoes with kimchi ranch and dill. One bite and I was addicted, these were so so good. We then moved on to the classics for entrees -- bee sting pizza and the ragu-- and we were amazed at how good everything was! The only note we had was about the pizza, it was very soggy in the middle but still edible if you rolled it over in itself. We also had a few cocktails, and while they were somewhat small, you could tell they weren't watered down in any way. Two drinks was more than enough for me. Overall it was a great experience and we want to try it again. If you're someone who struggles to enjoy a meal out where you can't hear much, maybe wait for outdoor tables.

While planning our dinner party months in advance, the communication from Janine was excellent. She helped us develop a 4-course menu that was sure to have something for everyone, including vegan and allergy friendly options. Amy was our server for the evening, and she ensured we had everything we needed to enjoy our evening. The chairs in the Meyer's Den are wide and comfortable, the decor is dark and classy, and being in the basement away from the dining room made it very quiet and easy to converse with family. The room is rather spacious for 12 guests, but could also accommodate a few more people without feeling cramped. Out of the appetizers we selected, the Charred Octopus was very popular and everyone enjoyed it...even those that had never previously eaten octopus. The baby cauliflower dish was also a beautiful presentation, and quite large and enjoyable. The salads, particularly the Charred Hurricane salad, were nice light courses before the entree was served. As for the entrees, the filet mignon was a little on the dry side, but we really enjoyed the light and crispy spinach fritters that accompanied the beef. The salmon was a generous portion of medium rare fish, and there was lot going on with that dish - spicy cauliflower and za'atar potatoes that had some mixed reviews. Folks who ordered the duck breast seemed to enjoy the complex preparation, which had asparagus, green beans, and two pureed sauces - cauliflower ginger and cherry-rhubarb. The doughnut bread pudding with apple pieces and vanilla ice cream was a delicious, decadent way to end the meal. We left rather stuffed, and delighted with the overall experience that allowed our family to celebrate together.
