After going to Erie Grill for breakfast (after colonoscopy) I couldn't wait to try it for dinner. Breakfast was great! Homemade hash, local sausage, nice home fries a very hearty meal! I decided we should go for Valentine's Day! So here we are a group of 4, on Valentine's Day . Reservation was for 6 however our show ended early so we came around 5:30. Restaurant was empty except for a few people at the bar. Host was less than happy about us coming in early. We had no problem waiting. He reluctantly seats us. The waitress comes out rolls her eyes and then gives a fake smile. Maybe because our skin is brown but our money is green. Now to the food! Awful and severely over priced! We have been too many expensive restaurants that can walk the walk. Erie Grill can't even crawl. Caesar salad $25 (serves one, not an entree), chicken lollipops $16 end up being two chicken legs. The others ordered wagu meatloaf. It definitely tasted frozen. I order tuna tartar wontons (Nosh's Ahi tuna wontons would murder these) and a bowl of jambalaya (meh). I've been to Erie Grill a few times over the years, most recently for a brunch reunion with close friends. While the food itself was fine, the service was unfortunately very disappointing. We had a reservation but stood at the hostess stand for about 10 minutes before being seated. During that time, the waitress was chatting with other patrons, which would have been understandable had our party not felt consistently deprioritized throughout the meal. Our group arrived around the same time and took a few minutes to catch up and meet a friend's newborn before placing drink and food orders. Service was extremely slow, particularly given that my son ordered a simple bowl of cereal, which arrived no earlier than the hot entrées. Our drinks were not refilled, and when I asked for additional water, I was told the waitress had another large party coming in soon. When I stepped away briefly to take my son to the restroom, our plates were cleared despite the fact that he still had food left. The staff made it very clear that we were expected to leave, even though we had only been there for about an hour and forty minutes and experienced significant delays in receiving our food. Overall, the food was acceptable, but the service toward our larger party felt rushed, dismissive, and unwelcoming. With more attentive and considerate service, this could be a much better experience. read more

Very rude waitstaff I took my daughter for lunch last summer. Girl at front desk looked us up and down and sat us directly behind her. I objected, so she sat us by the kitchen door. My daughter was wearing a tee shirt and shorts. I had on a dress...we had been running errands. Middle of the week at lunch time...not busy or crowded. This place was really, really good. Too often, hotel restaurants get away with the bare minimum. Hotels have to have a restaurant to capture the captive audience staying there that is too lazy to venture out to eat. However, I thought that the Erie Grill is worth a special trip even if you're not staying there. I had a business meeting, and our server Johanna was polite, courteous, and attentive. The food was exceptional: we shared a beet salad, which they were nice enough to put on two separate plates for us. I also ordered the lamb loin, which was cooked to a perfect medium. The scalloped Parmesan potatoes on it were delicious. There was bar seating, high top, seating, and regular table seating. The place was pretty busy for a Monday night. We dined at Eerie grill from our way back from Rochester. It is located inside of a hotel by the canal. The restaurant has a pretty view to the water. Ambiance is classy. I had their burger and it was cooked perfectly. We also had their bottle of Pinot Gris and it was superb. Our waiter was sweet and the host greeted me with the biggest smile I've seen in a while. I usually stay at the Del Monte hotel (attached to the Erie Grill) when I'm out here for work. I think this place is sort of the pinnacle of what the locals prob think is upscale dining in Pittsford. It's quite pleasant as an eatery...however I think it's a little more style over substance. I've had the halibut and duck here...both excellent. Nice bar of course and the eatery views the Erie Canal and a nice trussell bridge. It's full of good looking locals along w the guests at the hotel. Pittsford is a funny place...affluent (for Rochester) but I've never been blown away by the food scene in the eastern Burbs of Rochester. Just seems a region for very conservative/safe palates The Erie Grill is a very pleasant place...outside of the Coq Au Vin, it's not that ambitious....but they obviously know their customers. The hotel is my favorite for work...so I'll come back to the Erie Grill (always for a cocktail after work..). read more

I did not expect to find such a nice place in this area of NY. You walk in and it's a beautiful high end hotel. Then you walk in to the Erie Grill and it continues with the theme of the hotel. I first went in for drinks and dinner on Friday night and then breakfast during the weekend. Everything I ate was delicious. The bartender was a good dude and a real baseball fan. Service at the bar is absolutely terrible! We went in last week and the bartender barely even acknowledged us for 20min despite there being only 4 ppl at the bar. When we were finally able to order a drink, she was very delayed in actually making it taking an additional 10 minutes bc she was doing work behind the bar. Forget trying to order food. Went here for brunch on a Sunday afternoon and was not disappointed. Ordered the two eggs with toast and home fries, orange juice and side of fruit. Was not disappointed. Very tasty, eggs perfectly cooked, home fries were crispy on the outside and seasoned well. The people I were with both ordered the avocado toast which was phenomenal, fresh and great flavor. The avocado toast platter came with 2 eggs and salsa. The waitress forgot my fruit so I did have to ask for it again but she gave us a free banana creme brulee which was very good. All in all, the ambiance was quiet and social distancing and safety procedures were in place. Tables and restaurant seemed very clean and the waitress was very nice and friendly. I would be remiss to not update my review after our second dining experience here. Unfortunately, it did not live up to my glowing statements... I ordered the pricey Huevos Rancheros expecting something awesome to justify the $19 price tag and to my horror it was nothing like what I expected. It seemed like ground beef with taco seasoning, not chorizo sausage, plopped on dry corn tortillas with canned beans and avocado and two eggs. Overall it was very dry, and the most offensive part is that I could've made it at home. I never want to order a $19 food item that I could've made at home. Tasty, yes, impressive, no. My partner's corn beef hash with eggs was good, but his request for over easy eggs was met with dry yolks. Eeek. I'm keeping it at 4 stars because our first experience was so delicious and I loved their pancakes. This review is for Erie Grill's HAPPY HOUR which is one of the absolute best in town! My dream day? Massage at the Del Monte followed by happy hour drinks and snacks at Erie Grill. Simply the best and one of the first things I'll be doing once we're all out of quarantine. For happy hour, Erie Grill offers up $8 cocktails, $5 draught beer and $5 wines by the glass. I usually opt for some vino and one of their yummy snacks, all reasonable priced. Happy hour runs from 4-6 and is an awesome spot to take a business meeting, meet up with friends, and enjoy some noms. The chips are $2 and completely addicting, and I've also enjoyed their yummy chicken wings. Parking is super easy and they have an entire vegan and vegetarian menu. Vegan options are pretty limited, but the vegetarian options look plentiful. I am excited to get back and try dinner ASAP! read more

I used to think this restaurant covered all the bases and that would be even more true on a holiday. Not true today! We arrived early and they were gracious by seating us early... thank you!! However our meal didn't arrive until 50 minutes later than our reservation time. Mix up on orders prevailed and toast was buttered but cold, not with any flavor from the bread or butter. The Loaded Bloody Mary's were beautiful to the eye but weak on the vodka.... and spice! Your former bartender AJ made excellent cocktails. Fresh fruit plate on several occasions when eating from the bowl we tasted mold. We think it may have been the blueberries... not sure. The French toast was flavorless and we did not taste any egg like you normally would expect. The maple syrup seemed light in maple flavor for sure. The Red bliss home fries were cold and over cooked. What a total disappointment.....even though they comped the French toast at $18 On a final note, although the table was set with a floral arrangement it was so tall we couldn't see the guest across the table. I stayed at the Renaissance Hotel on sight and decided to head to the restaurant on property. GREAT CHOICE! The Erie Grill is located on the Erie Canal with windows that over look the canal. Very nice bar area with plenty of seating at the bar and high top tables. Also opens up to the dining room. Bartender was very busy during happy hour but managed to get all the patrons taken care of. They have a decent menu, with happy hour specials. Some of the regular items I thought where a little pricy, thus 4 stars. I had the wings and a salad. The wings were really good. I also ordered a deli tray small plate with local cheeses, meats etc, that was also good but this was one of the items I thought was expensive for what I got. Nothing I saw though would stop me from coming back. Great service and food is always a winner. read more

If you've ever been to/heard of the Del Monte hotel you can imagine the vibes of this place! Classy. We stopped in on Sunday around 2pm or so. We had heard they served a pretty tasty brunch so we assumed it would be pretty busy! To our surprise there were only three groups there - making it easy to grab a table! They were offering $5 bloody marys, peach bellinis or mimosas! What a deal. We tried out the peach bellinis that were delicious. For grub, I tried the mushroom, asparagus, goat cheese omelette. I wish there were fractions of stars because I think this place deserves more of a 4.5 than a 4. We started with a charcuterie plate. This is one of the more unique charcuterie plates that I have seen. It had house-made Pate. It tasted like a mix of beef and Polish sausage. It was the star of the plate and I was pretty impressed with the flavor. The cheese was good and the toasted bread they served with it was good as well. There was some sort of sweetened pickled onions and peppers which were much better than they sound. I've never had something like them. So all together it was unique charcuterie plate but very enjoyable. The wines by the glass were average-priced but surprisingly highly rated on vivino. I don't think I've been to a restaurant and seen that many 3.8 to 4.2 star wines before on the by-the-glass list. We settled on a champagne and martini and both were good. My wife ordered seafood pasta. I can't remember the exact name but it had mussels shrimp clams etc. The sauce was some type of butter lemon wine sauce. It packed a lot of flavor. The pasta was pretty dense but the flavor in the sauce was up to the task. this was one of the better seafood pastas she's had before. I ordered the pasta with beef short ribs. The pasta was good but didn't have a ton of flavor. The pasta was thick and I feel like more flavored sauce would have helped. The beef was good. It was moist and not fatty. Because there weren't large fat chunks (other places sometimes give you almost half the meat as ineddible fat), the portion was decievingly large. The meat had a great flavor and was tender. I would have liked a little more gravy but honestly it didn't even need it. For dessert we had creme brulee and Hennessy XO. The pour was extremely generous. at first the prices seem to be on the high end. But the quality and amount of food is worth the price. nothing here is alucard like other restaurants maybe so that really brings the effective price of the meals down quite a bit The entire lobby appears to be under construction. The bathrooms were pretty far away including an elevator ride. Hopefully that will be fixed soon. We went on Valentine's day so they gave us a rose and some cookies to take home which was a nice bonus. read more

My second time at Erie grill and I am impressed. The first time was for a friend's bridal shower. The food and drinks were awesome. I returned today for lunch with a couple of girl friends. It was not busy so we didn't wait too long for our food. I got the crab cake which was delicious. There was actually lumps of crab meat! The two crab cakes were served on a bed of salad with a vinaigrette dressing, which added a nice sweet sourness to the chipotle sauce on top of the crab cake. read more

I'm not sure how I haven't written a review for the Erie Grill yet, so it's time! I've been delighted by each of my dinner experiences at the Erie Grill. The special mixed cocktails are fantastic, and the concoctions I've been lucky enough to taste during the holiday season add a special sense of fun and whimsy to the dining experience. The wait staff has always been highly knowledgeable about the menu options, including the nightly specials. By the end of a meal, I'm always so full that dessert isn't really an option... so I've asked servers if they have recommendations for desserts that will transport and, if needed, refrigerate easily. I've not only ended up with fitting recommendations for a take home dessert, but the servers have always been more than helpful at packing up any meal leftovers - and dessert - so that they can be enjoyed the next day. Timing from the kitchen has always been pretty on point, allowing for meal portions to come out when they're perfectly ready. This rang especially true during one of my visits when I ordered scallops...and scallops can be hard to cook *really* well. I'm hesitant to order scallops at many restaurants because you'll so often be served scallops that are overly cooked and/or rubbery... but not so at the Erie Grill, where I decided to test their scallop-prepping prowess. The result? My scallops were served at the perfect time and just succulent. Side note: even though the Erie Grill isn't always super busy, I highly recommend reservations... because it can end up busy with a bit of a wait. Also, a bit of a half booth-setup near the windows is an opportune seating location. read more

Second time here was today (9/9/14) and I'm still in love. My husband and I came here in December 2013 to celebrate our anniversary and that was both our first times here. It was amazing! I've always been wanting to come back, so today we spontaneously decided to come for drinks and apps :) We arrived around 5:30 or so and since it's a Tuesday, it wasn't all that busy, except at the bar. We sat at a little high top table by the bar and were greeted by a server shortly after. While skimming the cocktail menu, I settled on the Summer Fling, and my husband ordered the bartender's special. The Summer Fling was VERY good! It had rum, muddled strawberries, aperol, and lemon juice. It was quite refreshing! The only down side of the drink was the the strawberries kept blocking my straw, so I eventually had to ditch that and just drink out of the glass. But that wasn't a problem since it was delicious either way! I did try my husbands drink, but that was not to my liking. It was very herb-y and had sage in the drink. It reminded me a lot like tea which I'm not a fan of anyways so it wasn't a surprise. For dinner we decided to go with their 2 for 20 appetizer options. We chose the chopped vegetable flatbread, and the bison sliders. OH MY! Both were incredible! Although if I do have to admit, I'd say that the flatbread was my favorite! It had the perfect crisp with garlic, and consisted of zucchini, squash, onion, heirloom tomatoes, arugula, and a balsamic dressing. It was SUPERB! And quite a decent portion between sharing for two people. It was fresh, hot, and the flavors all just jived together! As for the sliders, they were very tender and juicy! They had avocado, arugula, and a chipotle style sauce on them and were served with fries. Let's just say that my husband and I were very happy with our choice of foods! After our dinner of appetizers, we decided to get one more drink each. I had seen a picture on yelp of a purple drink with a black salt rim and I could not get it out of my mind! I had asked the waitress about it and she knew exactly what I was talking about and said it had been on their previous menu, but she would see if the bartender could make it for me. Sure enough, she did! It was called Volcano Moreno! It tasted just like a margarita, but the presentation was beautiful! A deep purple liquid with a black salt rim! GORGEOUS! As for my husband, he ordered a Pumpking, which you cannot go wrong with either at this time of year! We will definitely be back to the Erie Grill! I am looking forward to planning a girls night out there with my friends. I love the atmosphere and the view within the restaurant. Truly a hidden gem! read more

We took our time and never felt rushed. Our breakfast was included with our hotel stay. Our waitress let us know the corned beef was canned so my wife chose the short ribs and eggs which was amazing. I had an egg white omelet. The omelet was good and so were the potatoes. I tried a side of the chicken apple sausage and wasn't a fan. I think it was the nutmeg. Friendly staff and good food. I had dinner with a number of friends and met up for drinks first, then had dinner afterwards. The appetizers we had were relatively good but not plentiful and pricey for what you received. The drinks were good and service was great, with very attentive and friendly servers. The atmosphere was nice but very noisy as people's voices echoed and it was loud with background noise.l, making it difficult to have a nice conversation with guests. Some sound absorbing panels could potentially help reduce that. I had the ciopinno and it was the smallest, tasteless dish I have ever had anywhere, hands down! It was expensive and I don't mind paying more for the seafood, but there was barely much on the plate. The sauce was some kind of tasteless white sauce and everywhere else I have had it, it is a zesty and a very flavorful red sauce. The pasta was of poor quality and I left it because it was so bad. I didn't want to make a comment in front of my guests when the server asked how the food was, but I'll tell you that I would never go back as the food was that poor. This restaurant has been around for awhile, so I was very surprised, but you would think that after being in business for so long, the quality and consistency of the food would be just that, but I was extremely disappointed. If the chef can't make ciopinno correctly, then they should take it off the menu. The other embarrassment is that I suggested this dish to other guests, but they were being nice and polite and didn't say much about it. Not one person, out of the ten guests said anything.
