Just another example of the fine things one can get themselves into through reading Lydia L's reviews! Because this was a fine market to visit on a fine October day. Although we've consumed lots (LOTS) of wine, we've never tried mead and with Lydia's review to back us up, we tried some and bought some too. (Which would be enjoyed later on in the day with cheese from Dancing Ewe and seckel pears from Migliorelli's, both of the Rhinebeck Market.) Don't pass up the chewy, delightful pretzel rolls! We bought several to give to our friends in NJ and they were a BIG hit. (Seasonal cranberry / apple and also sea salt. Also found at the New Paltz market.) There were fewer farmers at this market on this October Sunday but the produce vendors there had top quality items. And the friendly woman at the info booth at the end of the market was offering samples of home baked apple crisp as well as tastings of local applies. I buy 5 1/2 gallons for 2 1/2 weeks of use, and the milk hasn't tasted sour. I have been pushing for almost three weeks! Hard-working and friendly staff; this is the real deal. Excellent quality products! If you want raw milk, I highly encourage you to take the drive (there's barely any traffic). They come in glass jars, leak-proof! I checked the ingredient label for the individual slices of banana bread for $1.99, and would have tried it, except that bananas were listed close to the end of the list. Put prices on your stuff. Otherwise it seems that if you have to ask, you can't afford it. Either that, or your prices are whatever you choose to charge at that moment to that person.

Poughkeepsie Farm Project is conducting it outreach this weekend and next to attract new membership. It was wonderful to meet some of the new people who are considering joining the farm as a CSA member. It's an investment to be sure. You do need to pay for your shares upfront so that the farmers know how much to plant and can budget accordingly. That being said, they do accept credit card payments and even EBT/SNAP through their website ordering system. It's fun to pick up my share because one never knows what's been picked - it's a surprise every week. There's just one more pick up before we go dormant until late spring/June. I'm preparing and storing as much as I can to hold me over because I know where the food has been grown and I know it's chemical free. If you are in the region of the Hudson Valley/Poughkeepsie town, consider joining. With the price of produce and the supply chain glitches ( don't get me started on why), being assured that you will have fresh produce, fruit, mushrooms, eggs, yogurt, and cheese from a nearby local farm lends a piece of mind
