I came here using a 7-day pass…read more Unfortunately, I didn't realize that the 7 days is effective as soon as the pass is emailed. Upon signing up for the 7 day pass, I received a text from Amir. Luckily, he was flexible and let me come at the end of March. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by Isaac, who was extremely friendly and informative. We went through the entire walk through, and on my 2nd visit, he went over the prices. The only thing I didn't like is that they take down all the information from our Driver's License even if it's just a trial. Since this is considered a boutique gym, the classes are the main focus and driver for memberships. They get crazy busy and packed, but are only held at certain times of the day..and not Friday evenings. The classes include (but with different names): yoga, boxing, cycling and CS4. I was only able take one class--Ride with Lauren--and WOW it was fun and vibrant! I came back another day for leg day to try out the equipment. I was very fascinated by the TechnoGym equipment--beautiful, unique machines and all in pristine condition. There were SO MANY options for upper, lower, cardio, etc. Additionally, there is a separate cross fit area, where they hold classes and it is open to members. There is a recovery section, which includes compression sleeves, cryotherapy and massage chairs, which are convenient but I believe separate from the monthly gym membership. Also, there is a spa, whcih is definitely 3rd party and not included in the monthly membership. There is 2 hour parking available in the garage, which is validated at the front desk.

Pros: -Great for people who enjoy working out in groups -Efficient 45 min workout -You sign up for classes via their dedicated app, then it can be added to the calendar in your phone -The raised padded floor is great for those of us with knee problems, it makes for a soft landing - they have child care -you can complete workouts from home video chat -they have women's only classes -unisex bathrooms with baby changing tables -they offer one-on-one support with nutrition (not sure how often) Cons: -Not so great for people who need more instruction because the class moves quickly -About 5-7 mins of the 45 mins is dedicated to warm-up and instructions, which makes for a short workout for some - The app doesn't tell you what the focus of the workout is going to be, so if you work out on your own you risk working on the same muscle group you already focused on by yourself -only class based workouts, no cardio machines, no time to stretch or do anything on your own -not open on Sundays -No locker room/showers Overall: This would make for a great secondary gym for someone who can't focus/doesn't have the motivation to complete HIIT workouts on their own (seeing as how there are plenty of free options online). It's a no frills, no thrills type of gym, get in, do your workout, and leave. They don't even have towels you can use. The owner is also very welcoming and encourages bringing friends, offering a free trial class so you can see if it's a good fit. *Workouts: Classes usually have about 10-25 people, and you can go at your own pace. I typically go 4-6 times a week, switching up which classes I take. When I first started, the workouts felt tough, but over time, they've become much more manageable (results, yay!). Personally, I'm one of the most unmotivated people when working out alone, and they do a great job of encouraging you to show up at least once a week. It would be nice if they were closer like in Chantilly or if they sublet through a space like Centreville Dance Academy.

DivaDance has been amazing for my work-life balance, and for pushing my homebody self to step away from my computer, get moving / trick my body into exercising, and meet new people!! As a side note, DivaDance classes always feature really amazing & wonderful women, as a woman in STEM I don't see a small number in my daily life, so dance has always been my favorite way to meet more diverse sets of people, and DivaDance has certainly been a great source of this in my life since they value empowerment and confidence.

I love that they hold community events and seem to genuinely care about their students. To be honest, I haven't ever found such a feeling of community at any of the other Pilates or Yoga studios I have been to. Fairfax is very lucky to have such a wonderful studio and I am very glad I stuck it out through that first barre class. Since then, I have had so much fun going through the intro equipment classes, getting to know different teachers, fine tuning movements, and getting pointers on how to take my practice to the next level. I have also thoroughly enjoyed taking advantage of the Dog Days of Summer package they offered in August and taking unlimited barre classes. A+

The virtual sessions have been a lifesaver during the pandemic, and it's great to continue to have them as an option now that the studio is reopening. My backaches are all gone, and the trainers know just how to ease other pains as they arise in my 70-something-year-old body!
