EDIT: I down graded from a 2 star to a 1 star after the owner's response. She doesn't get it. Again, if you don't want your customers to feel cheated, either have a sign that clearly states how tip is calculated (if tipping based on percentage) or fix your POS system. I understand tipping is a choice and I tipped because the nurse was great. Like a lot of customers, I chose percentage because it just simplifies things. HOWEVER, my expectation is that I am charged tip only for the service portion of the purchase. If I buy another $100+ worth of products, I don't expect those to be calculated as a part of the tip. Again, suggestion was simple...either have a sign to let your clients know upfront how tip is calculated when selecting the percentage option or to fix your POS. I don't need to be reminded to the fact that tip is never required or I can select the custom option. Apparently, there are others in the review who is not happy with the money aspect of your service. TIPPERS BE AWARE! I will start by saying that the service itself was terrific and the nurse that worked with our daughters were great so this is not a feedback based on their service. My Beef is with their payment system...specifically with their tipping system. You can call it a user error, but honestly, I feel like I got taken. Either way, I've attached a pic for reference. After their service, because of how great the nurse was, I wanted to show them a little appreciation by leaving them a tip. There's the option for custom amount, then, of course, your standard suggested tip percentage, which I chose to use. What I did not realized was that, when you choose this option, you are actually paying tip on the entire purchase, not just on the ear piercing service. Of course, this being a quick payment transaction, I didn't even think of asking thinking that only the piercing service would be charged the tip. Only after we left the shop and checked the receipt, did I realize that we got charged the percentage for the entire purchase. To me, this is unexceptionable practice. This is not a restaurant and, if I choose to leave a tip as a percentage, only the service part of the receipt should be charged, not the entire purchase. This led me to feel misled and cheated. So, while the service itself is great, take this as a warning and, if you want to leave a tip, select a custom amount and don't use a percentage unless you're okay with being charged the percentage on any other items that you may have purchased at the same time. For the business owner, do your customers a favor and either have your staff tell the clients how the tip works or have a sign near the register explaining how tipping using percentage works at your business. I'm sure I'm not the only person that feels either taken, or worse, don't even realize that this is what happened. Turned a great experience into a source experience as a result. read more

Overall, the experience was great. I got my 2 and 3 on my lobes and was unsure about pricing. The earrings are charged individually instead of one for each ear which was frustrating. I paid almost $500 for my piercings, with the needle which seemed outrageous. They charge you individually for each thing such as the earrings, service, tip, needles or gun, and the spray. The nurse was kind but I believe that they should discuss pricing before doing the actual service. read more

She answering my question regarding studio pierce vs mall piercing. She also spoke to be about the various after care solutions. There were two women there one being the piercer and another wonan was packing item away at the front desk (she may have been a piercer as well.) This woman was cold and her words were very limited. I am writing to express my disappointment regarding my scheduled appointment. On Wednesday, I booked an appointment for a forward helix piercing for Saturday at 11:30 AM, and my friend booked a tragus piercing for the same time. I arrived promptly at 11:26 AM and were not seated until 12:10 PM. After waiting nearly 40 minutes, we were informed that the piercer was not on site. As a result, I was unable to get pierced despite having a confirmed appointment. This was frustrating and disappointing, as I planned my day around this appointment and expected reliable service. I kindly ask that you review what went wrong with scheduling and communication so this does not happen to other clients. Additionally, I would appreciate knowing what steps you are willing to take to make up for the inconvenience. read more

I wouldn't recommend this place, I was quoted one price and when I went to pay it was an additional 125 more. When I expressed that this was not the price I was quoted the manager admitted she heard her employee misquote me after performing the service and said she didn't know why or how she came up with the price- leaving me responsible to pay the difference for the misinformation I was given. Again, I wouldn't recommend this place, not accountable, not transparent and that's not professional. My piercings still haven't properly healed as yet and it was a gruesomely painful experience to get through despite being told this the best way to do my piercings. The nurse complained that it was " hard to get through" and "almost there" repeatedly despite me never expecting issues or pain quite like this with any of my other piercings. The skill and training for these ladies needs to be investigated or avoided all together. I wouldn't recommend this service for kids despite the marketing being it is better to be pierced by the nurses they have at their establishment as the pain was more than taxing for me to endure as an adult. The experience from start to finish was like dealing with novice practitioners despite declaring professionalism ,and in all honesty I should have just demanded that they just stop the service and I walk a way slightly scathed. The hour and a half commute I made to get there wasn't at all worth it. I'm definitely skeptical of nurses that pass themselves off as piercers with care and integrity as a catchy marketing pitch. It was truly a disappointing experience as I had hopes of getting more things done but the illusion of professionalism isn't something I'm willing to experience again -my hope is that maybe my review will save you the trouble. read more

I did a lot of research before coming to Rowan, comparing places in the area -from commercial jewelry stores like Rowan to tattoo artists. For my teens, Rowan seemed like the best fit as I liked the asthetics of their earrings the most. We went on the weekend so the place was packed. We had an appointment and we really liked Cate, our nurse. Even though she had a full schedule, she never made us feel rushed. She was very kind and professional. She allowed us to study the positioning of the piercing and welcomed questions and opinions. read more

We took my 3 year old niece to get her ears pierced and Lorena was so caring and did everything she could to make her feel less scared. I've come in now for multiple piercings, all using needle piercing methods and I have had the most wonderful experience each and every time. The nurse has gotten to know me and we have so much fun just chatting away as she takes care of my new piercings and downsizes my old. I had a pretty good experience at Rowan. My piercer, Ashley, was awesome and super kind and placed my second lobe piercing perfectly. No pain and no issues. The only thing I am critical about is the price. I do believe that paying employees well is of utmost importance but where the excess comes in, is the limitation to pricey jewelry. I understand you want high quality metals so that there's less irritation to the ear, but the piercing was well over $100 and it just seems a bit excessive. They also give you this hypochlorous spray that is $30 that you can probably get cheaper from the drugstore. That's my fault for not speaking up and purchasing it anyway. It's a clean and cute place and they do have beautiful jewelry. It's just a more expensive option as far as piercings go. read more

Nobody told us we have to go back to change the post. They treat you like a number. Zero customer service. The place is the size of a closet and they want you out as soon as possible. This is a follow up to my previous review, to share more about the jewelry itself. As I had to take one of the earrings out today, due to some major discomfort. To my surprise, these earrings are not completely gold! The only part that is gold is the setting that is holding the CZ stone. While the rest is silver! At $59 per earring, the entire earring should be 14k gold! For example, I have purchased small gold hoops for $50 per earring- cheaper than what you would pay at Rowan! I second previous reviews about being fully aware of price structure. I went to have my second lobe piercings REDONE as they had closed. They call this process tapering and the lowest cost earring available is $59. The nurse was very nice and the whole process took a few minutes. But when I went to check out I found out that EACH earring was $59! For a 2.5 mm CZ stud! I thought it was $59 for the set. Sorry to say I won't be recommending this place to friends and others ( I was really excited about it at first!). $200 to RE-pierce ears is ridiculous. I'm in full support of nurses (I am one) and woman owned businesses, which drew me to this place initially, But these prices for the jewelry? Really? No thank you. read more

I made an appointment at this location over a week ago. I needed a piercing downsized. On the website, it specifically said you had to go Monday through Friday 9 to 5 to have a piercing downsized. I made an appointment for a week later at 4:45. Over the following week, I got assorted texts and emails reminding me of my appointment. I got text reminding me that I should eat two hours before coming in. I got text saying if I had any questions I could call. I got text the day of reminding me of my appointment. Forty five minutes before my appointment I got a phone call saying no one was available to do my downsizing. I said I understand a nurse was needed when I booked the appointment. They offered no explanation other than - do you want to come tomorrow? No, I don't want to come tomorrow. I live over an hour away. I purposely scheduled this appointment when I would be in at the mall. I need to have my earring downsized. There was no flexibility, no apology, no explanation, just do you want to come tomorrow? That's bad business. You can't tell me they didn't know earlier in the day they were not going to have anybody available for my appointment. Forty five minutes before an appointment is unacceptable. A lot of places keep a credit card on file and if you don't show up for an appointment, they charge you. What gives you the right to cancel with me 45 minutes prior? I have since heard of other issues with this location. I would think before you book. read more

This was my first time in a piercing studio so I'll be honest I don't have much to compare it to. We took our 10 month old infant daughter for a piercing. We had to wait at least a half hour after our appointment time which was a major inconvenience especially with the baby. Looked like they were short staffed, but the location is way too small and cramped especially for multiple customers to have to wait. The workers were friendly and did a good job on the piercing but the experience could have been much smoother for the higher than competition prices they charge. read more
