The opening of Intermission, where a rather dashing Colin 'Feckin' Farrell headbutts a young waitress! Actually when I read that back it doesn't sound so funny, but believe me it is! Apart from that, it is a really cool modern deli, great for lunches and just chilling with friends. It is a pretty trendy place, especially for a place like Rathfarnham Shopping Centre. All neutral coordinating browns and creams and whites with lots of wood, leather and glass features! Even the bathrooms are cool. The food is great too, awesome sambos and buffalo chicken pasta is really taste and only €7 for a grand size portion! Good coffee and cakes and muffins and that sort of stuff too and they don't mind if you take your time and just sip your drink and chat and chill friends! Mind you it does get real busy at lunch time so maybe this isn't the best time to head up if you do want to chill!

There's a counter where you can get sandwiches, paninis and wraps and another section devoted to pizza. Then, there is a third section where you can get more of a main meal - there are hot dishes serving food like shepards pie, curry, stir fry's etc. It's a good place to go if you want a bit of variety, and would be quite suitable for young families. The food isn't amazing, but tasty nonetheless.

I don't know where to start with Fothergills. We were fortunate to stay in one of the apartment…read morerooms above the cafe and were welcomed to a complimentary coffee and pastry for breakfast during our stay. The cafe is super cute; one side is more of a restaurant scene with tables, menu, and waitresses and waiters on hand. The other side is more of grabbing something quick to eat and/or drink. I've tried the raspberry muffin. It was so fresh and good words cannot even describe it. I'm more of a blueberry muffin person but being that was not an option at the time I chose raspberry and I did not regret it. My fiancé and I also tried the Irish breakfast (I posted a pic and noted what it consisted of). So awesome! A hearty breakfast was a great way to start a day of exploring in Dublin. The next day, I tried the croissant and scone. They pretty much melted in my mouth. As you walk in the cafe, you could smell how fresh everything was. Anyway, we had planned to drive to the Cliffs of Moher that day and decided to get a couple of sandwiches and saw they had a variety of choices to choose from. I ended up creating my own sandwich; it was super delicious! Even when we ate it hours later, it was still good. We tried the Irish cheese and onion chips and it blew my mind. It's similar to the sour cream and onion here in the states but a hundred times better. I found myself looking for more onion and cheese chips during my stay in Ireland. The cafe started open later than other cafes I'm used to but we never made it back in time. With good prices and great food we probably would have eaten breakfast, lunch, and dinner there. I would definitely visit this place again if I ever get the opportunity to return to Dublin. It made our visit a truly remarkable one.

Yes, this is the enemy of the short fat and balding male rapidly reaching middle age, it is Fothergills, a shop filled with everything from a frankly obscene selection of the most appetising pastries known to man - including those squares of short bread covered with caramel and topped with chocolate.... Excuse me... I need a moment alone... Ahem... cakes... they do cakes as well and jam - I took pictures of the jam shelf, just to show you they take this sort of thing seriously... and quite right too.

I used to go here for a roll from the deli as it was convenient and lets face it I'd say that the only reason people keep going back! We'll I decided enough was enough, there are other better value deli counters in Sandyford Ind. Est. if you're willing to walk for a few mins extra. The staff are all like robots, hardly look you in the eye when talking to you, never smile or say bye and thanks! they just slap all the food into to the roll in any old order. One huge bug bear for me is when you ask for "a little" of anything and next thing you know half a bottle of mayo is on your roll along with cheese that you didn't ask for. The staff at the tills are not much better, I find them to be pushy, grab the money off you etc. Just poor service and goes on because they are always so busy that they don't have to bother listing to the customers grips!
