I used to be able to get appointments 2-3 weeks in advance and even though she cuts her last appointment in the early afternoon, she has graciously stayed behind to take me at 4pm on weekdays. Now, she has a longer patient list so I need to make sure I schedule appointments at least 1-2 months in advance. I originally chose her because I preferred a female doctor who could speak Chinese and communicate with me. It was important for me to have someone who would understand my cultural practices and traditional background. I also liked the fact that she was young, which meant to me that she would be open-minded and actually listen to me as a patient. For the most part, she has lived up to my expectations. She does everything you expect from a doctor and gets your needs met. However, I did have one bad experience a year ago, though no fault of her own. It was either her office system or the Mercy medical group that she is affiliated. You can definitely feel that it is designed to squeeze as much money as possible from patients, making some visits seem impersonal and rushed. This particular incident happened when I showed up for my "physical" appointment that I booked many weeks in advance. I was SEVERELY disappointed by the front staff who looked at me blankly and said, "no it's just an appointment, not a physical appointment slot." It turns out the staff initially making the appointment made a mistake and never booked me for a physical - the appointment notes didn't even reflect this and no one at the desk knew what I was talking about when I checked in. Nonetheless, they made me wait and "maybe the doctor can do it." Nope, not only was the staff wrong and unapologetic, it turned out to be a long wait (she was running behind that day). So, minus one star because it was a waste of a couple hours that could've been avoided if they rescheduled me or better yet, got it right the first time. I eventually did only get seen for that 15 min slot and, yes, I was told I had to make another appointment to come back for a true physical appointment. However, she is a great doctor and I nonetheless convinced my parents to switch their PCPs to start seeing her.

He showed the right balance of technical knowledge, compassion, empathy, and humility. He demonstrated considerable patience, as he didn't try to rush me through my appointment. He came across as deeply curious, a good listener, and a problem solver. He has an easy-going, affable, and approachable personality. I appreciate the fact that we share the same philosophy on health maintenance. He is far from the pill-pushing doctors that are far too common in the medical field. Instead, he understands the underlying factors that contribute to illness. He encourages smart lifestyle choices (stress reduction, healthy diet, proper sleep, and regular exercise) to stave off chronic illness and help live a happy and healthy life. I consider myself very fortunate to have found him and, based on my first experience with him, would highly recommend him to anyone.

Very engaging in conversation in a genuinely personable way. The most complete primary care physician I've ever had provide care. Oddly enough my son blazed the trail. After a less than positive experience with another provider my son landed with Dr. Cepeda. After taking my son to more than a handful of appointments it was clear I wanted the same care my son was receiving. To date it's been all that and more. I believe that even though his practice was full I was able to get on the roster of patients. My only negative to share is the periodic lack of timely appointments. Given the level of care provided it's certainly understandable why things can get busy and appointments booked up. Fortunately there are other physicians that share the variable seasonal load in a way that I'm never unable to get appropriate care in a timely manner. The medical staff that works with doctor are entirely top notch. Over the years staff comes and goes but the current roster is outstanding. I'm so pleased with my care that I don't even have a hint of interest in making a change at any point.
