Great and friendly service! Very affordable. We had basically the whole house done. The heat was killing us so we added several fans, added lights to the first floor living room, added vents to our bathrooms, lights in the kitchen, weather protection to our plugs outside, and electrical outlets to several rooms. It was A LOT of work. Chris brought a three man team and everyone was so nice. We got lunch together as they were just such wonderful people. Everything works great and were unbelievably pleased. Poor Chris! My wife emailed him to ask for some changes and he came the next day and made them for free. Talk about excellent service! Like I said, this was a ton og work, there were here for almost 12 hours and never took a break. I was expecting to faint when I saw the bill; however, it was very fair. I had some can lights from 2006 burnout and used yelp to get quotes to fix. Rowland responded saying they'd replace all the lights with LED for $280. Seemed reasonable so had it done but the minute I walked in the kitchen I was surprised by how bright the lights were. WAY too bright. So Keith the electrician said I should install a dimmer. My question was "why wasn't I told in advance the lights would be so bright?" Had I been told I could have had the install for the dimmer at the same time and avoided the cost of a separate service call. I got a different electrician to install the dimmer for $135. Even the second electrician said I should have been told of the need for a dimmer beforehand. When I addressed this with Chris with Rowland got a sorry, that's it. Rowland Electric upgraded our electric panel on our super funky old house. We were very pleased with the service. Charles is extremely kind and professional as well. The transaction felt very old-timey and I mean that in the best way possible :) Charles made us feel like he took care of our house the same way he would his own. He always communicated exactly when he would be over, he took care of SMUD and permits, he was timely, quick and professional. Our neighbor on our property has a daughter with a few devices that assist her with breathing and other functions and Charles refused to allow them to be without power during the panel replacement, he went to great lengths to ensure their comfort and stability. I'm truly amazed at all the great reviews. If I could give negative stars I would. They came out to our new house in Auburn on 4/18/18 to install a dedicated ground for a jetted tub, fix a broken ground fault in our kitchen and replace two broken photoelectric eyes. * Disconnected our jetted tub, advised they would have to come back and enlarge the outside access panel to begin installation * Said they had repaired the ground fault in the kitchen. We discovered it was still broken after they left * Advised they had to remove our dishwasher to check the ground fault and damaged the counter tile when doing so. They said damage was already there, we have pictures showing otherwise. * Removed an outside outlet without our knowledge and did not reinstall it, the outlet was left hanging outside the wall with live wires. * Replaced one but not both photoelectrics. * Walked through our house dragging mud all over the place, the house had just been cleaned * They did not leave a receipt for the $375 for who knows what they did. Don't ask, I'm not sure why my better half paid them. After cleaning the mess left behind, my better half, who was rightfully quite upset, called and spoke to the manager letting him know this had to be corrected or it could end up in court. They refused to come back and promised the owner would call us. This was also promised to me. As of this writing, 5/11, we have not heard from him. We have what could be thousands in damages caused by their shoddy work and lack of respect for our house. We are filing a complaints with The State Contractors Board, Better Business Bureau, and plan to take whatever legal actions we can after we know the full cost to repair the damages and recover our expenses. We had an alternate company come out who fixed everything including the kitchen ground fault for $275. If you choose to hire these guys, do so at your own peril. read more

Very happy with the promptness and integrity of Rowland Electric and Larry Haskins. Our ceiling fan fell out of the ceiling in our bedroom. When we found it, it was hanging from the wires still running. We just needed it reinstalled, and needed a new holding box in the ceiling. I messaged Rowland Electric on Yelp on Tuesday, and Larry Haskins was at our house reinstalling it on Wednesday. I knew it was a simple project for someone who knew how to do it, and was happy with how quickly they were able to get someone out to help us. Larry was great, and the price he quoted me when he got there was very fair. Then even when the project took a little longer than he originally thought, he kept my price the same. Expected better based on their reviews but unfortunately Chris and Rowland Electric fell short. I had what I expected to be $3k-$4k electrical job and wanted to secure a few bids as one normally does in a situation such as this. Chris was on point initially, met in person to assess the job and advised a quote was forth coming ' next week '. Fast forward a few weeks, and still no bid after multiple follow-up conversations via text and chatting thru Yelp. Our last conversation he advised they had been working a job with bad cell phone reception which made communicating difficult with suppliers and staff. Huh?? If you don't want the job, or are unable to provide a bid than say so, no problem, but to set multiple expectations directly with your customer and not follow through is just bad business. read more

Thorough, respectful and punctual service! I contacted Rowland Electric on a Saturday after attempting to install Christmas lights and stumbling upon two outdoor outlets that weren't working. I tried to troubleshoot the issue myself, but realized very quickly I needed a professional. Chris responded through Yelp within 10 minutes and had technicians out to the house Monday morning at 8am. Not only were they on time, they were early! This is rare with contractors, but much appreciated when you're setting aside time to meet with them. The two techs that came out asked for a quick overview of my concerns and went directly to work identifying the issue. It took them no more than 30 minutes to determine what needed to be corrected. They thoroughly explained the cause, advised how they would correct it and immediately went to work doing so. I also had an interest in adding a new outlet outside and they completed that cleanly and correctly. & when they came inside the house, they kindly respected our "no shoes" rule and put on covers. I called Rowland Electric for my light bulbs in a portion of my house blowing out immediately upon installation and other lights dimming. He was able to come out that day and called to say that he could come earlier than our arranged time, which was great. After he and his partner tested all the possible causes, he determined that it was most likely the line into the house and had me call pg&e. Pg&e came out and it was indeed bad connectors on their side. Now he could have charged me for coming out because he was upfront on his pricing and minimum ( which is below the $90/hr which seems to be the norm) but he didn't charge anything as he said he didn't fix anything! This is a guy that understands that good customer service leads to customer loyalty! We will be calling him from now on. read more

Rowland Electric gave me the best price. Chris accommodated my timeline. His technicians were scheduled to arrive at 8am on a Wednesday. They showed up right on time and installed six ceiling fans and three pendant lights in one day. They had to wire the bathroom fan and the three pendant lights, as they weren't pre-wired.
