My son had a 10th grade english teacher at Rowland High school. She was very unprofessional and very dishonest. Very discriminatory towards students based upon racial ethnicity. Doesn't take grading seriously and wastes half the period talking about her personal life, very unprofessional for an educator. Her own curriculum fails to correlate with major assignments she gives out to students. These assignments can majorly impact a students grade for better or worse, and due to her inconsistency in teaching, it only really got worse for my son. Inconsistency in teaching also shows in her grading. There is no rubric for essays and major assignments, leaving many students confused and puzzled when given "make or break" assignments. Tends to hold uprofessional grudges against students in her classroom. read more

Aloha,Our 40th high school reunion was absolutely wonderful it was so fun seeing familiar faces and our friends .I was pleasantly surprised on all of our Beautiful stories and memories. No playground equipment. There was a former student that collected pieces of female hair. Needs more plants. Obese staff. Not good.

This school discriminates based on intellect. For example, I was only tardy 40 times this year and I received a Saturday Detention but they don't have the nerve to give it to students who are absent just as much as me but are smarter. They also have teachers that cannot teach for example teachers by the name of Urbien and Chang. These teachers are the worst, Chang doesn't care about students belongings and Urbien just doesn't do anything. If I could leave no stars I would. Very poor sportsmanship from the staff. Paid to watch a game and was told I had to sit where I could not see anything. Then said they would refund my money and once I was outside they refused. Lied and said it was CIF rules that we could not sit in the bleachers near the court. After speaking with a rep from CIF found out it was not true. Not a very good representation of a school. Would not ever come back here if they were not in our league. read more

I can't begin to speak highly enough of the schools administrators/staff. Beginning with Mr. Ward whom I have to thank for stepping in during a lengthy custody battle idk where my daughter would be without his influence on that specific day, he may not know but ultimately if it weren't for him my daughter may not be here today. Then there's the lovely Attendance clerk Mrs.Sammi whom always reaches out in a timely manner to check on all 3 of my girls when their absent. Her teLephone and bubbly personality shows how genuine she is as a person. Then the guidance of our wonderful counselor Ms gray any concerns regarding my 3 daughters she's always there to guide us in the right directions with their best interests at heart. Mr. cooper, Mr. Kim, Mrs. Gutierrez, Mr. Mesidijian Mrs. Janicke, Mr Hsiao, cheer coach Ms Pena and football coach Jacobson your positive impact on my daughters speaks volumes on the integrity you all carry in the love you have for your students. The impact these teachers have had on my 3 girls is ensuring there success in the future for that I can never thank you all enough for what you do daily. I know the school got a bad rap from the last fight with the girls and special needs kid, but I believe if you saw how the entire school body and staff rallied around him in support it speaks for itself on how much the school is truly unified there's always bad apples in every school it's what you do afterwards that shows true character. read more

Back in my daughter's high school days, I had an awful experience with the white nurse who works here. She acted like she hated her job every time I met up with her. One day, she confiscated my daughter's phone for clicking the reduce volume button right before she put her phone back into her backpack and shut her up right away when She tried to nicely explain the situation. In fact, she was racist enough to say "I said no phones here twice, IN ENGLISH" and rude things like "you need discipline!" out loud to my daughter, who was already in pain due to illness. Later on, she even left her phone ringing on the table knowing that it was her father calling. Although my daughter explained how her father doesn't speak much English and that it would be better for her to speak to him directly, she still ignored her and even indifferently said that he should know that he is supposed to call the front desk instead... I wonder what kind of Gold Ribboned school Rowland is to not fire a nurse with such awful attitude. read more

Can't speak for the school in general, but for one event specifically. My daughter goes to Laguna Hills High School and is in Marching Band. Every year a lot of the High Schools travel to Fresno or Bakersfield to compete in the WBA Finals. It is a big deal to all involved and requires a tremendous amount of practice and money. This past weekend was the Finals and most schools traveled to Bakersfield for the competition only to wakeup Saturday morning to find out the competition had been cancelled because of the fires out west and the dangerous smoke conditions. The kids were devastated to say the least. This is were Rowland High School steps up and invites the surrounding schools to come to their house and perform. Wow!, the placed was packed as parents could now watch the performance that were unable to travel to Bakersfield. As well as everything went you would have thought they planned it all along. No trophy's were handed out but we all felt like winners and the kids left knowing all that training didn't go to waste. Thank You Rowland High School For being a class act and saving the day. read more

Basketball gym sucks and the staff at the games doesn't fall far behind. Had one of the worst experiences at a game recently. WARNING to visiting team spectators, they WILL make you sit in back of the gym (approx. 100 feel away from the court) the idiot "assistant principal" will come get you if they spot you on THEIR side. I truly felt discriminated at this point. ASK FOR YOUR MONEY BACK if you get the same treatment. read more

The recreational program, swimming here at Rowland is great. Only been here to 3 classes for my daughter and it's been great experience. The staff here is great. On time, professional, hands on. Ian and Vinny people in charge gives out great vibe for the rest of the staff. read more
