My son and I had burgers are they were excellent, daughter had the Ruben and it was huge, she said it was really good, wife had the Piggy Fries which is basically Poutine with pulled pork on top also good. Had a great time here. The drinks are strong and cheap. The bartender a young man was friendly and the lady making the food was nice enough. I had the original Roxey burger and it was really good. They don't have a lot of top shelf liqueur but that's expected in a small town. He made great drinks and the prices compared to AZ were cheap!! I'd come back for sure. read more

Was recommended to stop here for an alcoholic beverage and dinner once we arrived to Ontonagon. It was a busy Friday night and the hubby and I were lucky enough to get a spot at the bar. I ordered the shrimp dinner and he got a burger. Both very happy with our food. The service was great and the owner even came out and said hello which is always so nice. The only thing I would say is that my husband kept trying to order local Michigan beers (as we traveled from Wisconsin and don't see these beers often), however the bar was out of stock if a lot of things that were displayed on the bar. Food was 5 stars for bar food-- greasy and tasty in the best ways. I had cheese curds and a burger, and they were filling and perfectly cooked. The bartender was a little bit of a different story- we ordered takeout instead of staying in the bar, and when I picked my order up, the bartender didn't say a word to me other than 'here's your food' and held our her hand to take my credit card to pay for it. This is my first in-restaurant dining experience in 5 months (thanks Covid). And I couldn't have been happier in the choice! If you are a fan of the dive bar scene, Roxey's is the perfect choice. Started with a Bloody Mary - made from scratch! Got a Wisconsin jerky off the bar wall to pair with the bloody - perfect addition. Split a munchy platter, which you can create from any of their fried goodies. The jalapeño poppers were top notch. Fried pickles very good as well; unique pickle flavor, so probably a locally used source. Ended our meal with some Upper Hand IPAs and the hell burger - generous serving of pretty spicy jalapeños! The food was exactly what we needed. Fried, basic, delicious. The ambiance was also perfect; again, if you like the local watering holes. Service was slow. We had to go up and ask for our checks and never got refills on our drinks. The mop bucket used to clean the floors, was left with dirty water right next to our table. The back of the restaurant was trashed and unorganized. When we asked for condiments, the waitress acted irritated. The door to the bathroom won't close and the trash was full. The ceiling was also falling apart. After thought: The waiter also sat down at the table with us to ask for our orders. When I asked for a Diet Coke, they literally gave me a can. Would've had better luck at a marathon. The cook had to bring me my ranch because the waiter was sitting at the bar. read more

Went here because our local friends recommended the burgers. The food was ok bar food but the service was awful. Our waitress was very upset that we were a large group and made it very clear that we were not welcome. She had an attitude, even though we were very nice and patient with her being overwhelmed. Typically dingy, drab U.P. Bar. A friend recommended their burgers. I had the Philly Burger. It was good with nice flavor and ample bun. I also ordered fries, they tasted like fish. Um, this place was interesting for sure. It should probably just be called a Bar so that people know not to bring their children in. If I was just rating a dive bar, it pretty well nailed all the points it takes to earn the title. But we were there to have some dinner after travelling all day. Pretty much we were hungry and they were open. We sat at the bar because typically that's the best place to get service in a dive, but even then it was rough. Drunk guy outside had the employees too entertained to worry about customers. So we get there Friday evening and the special is fish of course, but they "just ran out". So we peruse the menu a little more and decide to stick with a burger. Wasn't terrible, but not great. Before we got our food drunk dude comes back into the bar and start whooping and hollerin, and trying to order a round of shots for the house. They didnt serve him thankfully, but he was loud and dropping F-bombs all over the place and there were several families in there. It was all very uncomfortable. During all this I think the "kitchen" and I use that term loosely (small grill, fryer, and fridge in the corner) got pretty backed up, and people were asking for their food to go. The cook was getting very irritated that so many people were ordering food and they couldn't keep up. The whole situation made me a tad uncomfortable. In the end, they did offer a round of drinks on the house to make up for the commotion, even though I had to remind the bartender and ask her to take that round off our bill. In the end we got what we came for, we left no longer hungry, and with what we considered a free show for entertainment. And that ladies and gents was our first hour in Ontonagon! read more

I used to love eating at this bar. Since the bar has gotten new owners, it's gone downhill. Went there a few days ago with some friends and the service was terrible. It took about 20 minutes for the waiter to bring us drinks, even though there were only 2 other tables and like 3-4 people at the bar. The owner, who was cooking, was very drunk. Our order was taken 45 minutes after we arrived at the bar. We did not even receive our food until 2 hours after we arrived. We did not get our food at the same time and the first person to get their food was done eating by the time the last person got her food. The food was also either burnt or so hard it was difficult to bite into. Then, we did not receive our bill for a long time, so we went up to the bar to get it. This town should have so much more going for it. Sadly, it does not. Beer and wine choices at this bar are identical to every bar, restaurant, and the few places to buy alcohol in the region. The bourbon dipping sauce for the boneless wings was OK. The jalapeno burger gave me diarrhea. read more

I was here last winter and man was the food great. There was a guy named Noah I think cooking and boy can he cook. Now I went there this past weekend and had a burger and a beer the first day and it was ok and on the second day I was hoping to see Noah cause the Ruben he made was so juicy and it melted in your mouth, but come to find out he no longer works there so I ordered the Ruben anyway. This time it was dry sloppy and she burnt my bread! It a shame! But I guess people have to move on sooner or later! read more
