If you add a better side to the food, you're charged the full price of the side and don't receive the original side your dish came with, rather than a discounted upcharge for the side as it's replacing something else. Beautiful location. It's a bit out of town but worth the drive. It was nice enough to sit outside for lunch and I felt like I could have hung out here all afternoon watching the rafting buses go by. I really felt like I was in vacation mode. (I bet it is super busy on the weekends here.) I tried the smoked cheeseburger special. It was a huge patty and was better than average but I wish I had tried some BBQ. I subbed in curly fries instead of chips and the mound of fries was huge. One other ordered the stuffed potato and it was ginormous!! Owner came out to thank us for coming in and was super personable. If the burger had been spectacular, this would have been a five star review. Also, the fountain Coca-Cola had a really off taste like a cross between Dr. Pepper and diet Pepsi. Great location! Just outside Tahlequah! We had their jalapeño poppers for an appetizer and the chopped brisket sandwich for lunch. The jalapeño poppers were fantastic. Tried this place today and loved it! The service/location/ambience, was amazing, the food arrived quick and it was delicious. Visiting for our annual river trip and decided to try this place out. Great location, It's right where the resorts are. They have a large outdoor area to sit. Inside is really fun! Service was good and had manager or owner come around checking on us. We tried out the fried pickles and we both got the brisket potato. Both were delicious! Sampled the poppers and they were good. Great BBQ place. Good hospitality. It was surprisingly nice to see that they gave us a sample of their ribs. As we ate the owner kept checking us, and we felt very welcome. Overall food was delicious. Good portion-sized size too. The mac n cheese was cheesy and flavorful but it wasn't hot, which is a crime. The Cole Slaw, surprisingly had a kick to it. And I didn't like that it was finely minced. I had the ribs dinner plate. The ribs were flavorful, tender, and a bit smokey. Good bone-to-meat ratio. The toast is amazing perfectly buttered and toasted. The floating trip was great, but this place made our trip even more memorable. Hopefully, it's still there when we're back next time. read more

Opening weekend and it was Mother's Day. Super busy. Service was excellent. Food was outstanding. Great brisket and ribs! The Philly steak sandwich was also very good. The bbq sauce reminded me of an old restaurant from way back in the day and if you're from Tahlequah I think it'll bring back some great memories. The atmosphere and decor were outstanding. This is for sure going to be a popular spot on the Illinois River!!!! Needless to say we'll be back.......many more times. A beautiful warm fall day. Perfect for a spin on 10, and a big plate of BBQ along the scenic Illinois river byway. Roxie's BBQ is the place for lunch and dinner. A destination restaurant for bikers, car enthusiast and river floaters. Outside dining only, order at the window and your food is delivered to your table. The tables surround the shady sides of the building. Most all are covered, either under the patio or under each table's individual umbrella. Tall metal stools are lined up along the north side of the patio behind a slim bar like table. They looked very comfortable. We selected two and relaxed. In minutes we were enjoying delicious Roxie's BBQ. Fast friendly service. A football sized baked potato, with tender smokey chopped brisket for me. It was loaded with meat, cheese, chopped green onion, a little sour cream and the house BBQ sauce. Get a bottle of Roxie's BBQ sauce to take home. My wife had a monstrous tray of food, the meat stacked brisket sandwich. She ordered her meal with the spicy slaw and tangy mustard potato salad. It also came with a bag of chips. Both trays had house pickled purple onion and a wedge of dill pickle. Excellent BBQ, generous filling trays of food. Check the pictures! And for dessert....a spin, north bound on 10. It was a perfect day to enjoy the curves. I made it all the way north to Hwy 412 without a single car in front of me to slow me down. My radar detector was silent for the entire trip. About mid-way there was a County Sheriff in a pull out on the west side of Hwy 10. His radar was off. Likely taking an afternoon power nap. I hope I didn't disturb his sleep. read more

This was a great experience all around! A family run BBQ joint in Tahlequah they take great pride in their BBQ, their establishment, and their customers. I'm always judge my places on their ribs so that's where I went with my food order and with the help of business owners chose some really good sides in beans and mac&cheese. They also had these brisket stuffed, bacon wrapped jalapeños they called Tahlequah Twinkies!! I got there a little early so they weren't quite finished but I witnessed a customer come and try and purchase 3-4 of them and when told it would be 45-HR he said "I'll be back"!! This is an expanding family business with a new sit down restaurant being built close by in the future. Situated right on the river it is a great place to stop after a long float or drive. The bologna had absolutely no smoked flavor and looked and tasted like freshly cut piece from a stick of bologna. The turkey had a great seasoning on the edges but didn't appear or taste to be smoked. Really disappointed for a BBQ joint, no smoked flavor. The beans were great and fries okay. So the place was super cute, outside patio and the service was great, everyone really nice!! The barbecue was probably the worst I've ever had. The pulled pork sandwich had a huge piece of fatty meat and my husband's 3 meat dinner was bland, full of fatty brisket. The only barbecue sauce looked like gravy and was not good! Out of everything when we arrived less than an hour after opening, waitresses were completely askew, and the food was cold. BBQ meats were grisly and terrible flavor. BBQ sauce tasted like cheap great Value sauce.. And they charge you a service charge for being dumb enough to stop here. I'm probably in the minority here but I didn't see what all the fuss is about. I got the Tahlequah Twinkie which would have been AMAZING if I could have actually eaten it. HOTTEST PEPPER IVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE! I got the brisket (which I didn't realize was chopped and it was just so so) and the ribs, which were very very good! I ate them without sauce, as I didn't care for their sauce at all. Not your typical Oklahoma bbq sauce. It was very bland. Hubby got the hot links which were hot and the bologna was just ok. We both got the beans-typical, nothing special. Same with the fries and coleslaw. Hubby is picky about coleslaw and the waitress said it was really good and sweet, which it wasn't. The pickled onions had the right color but no pickled flavor at all. The pickles didn't look dill so I didn't try them. Ah hubby said they were dill and just ok. The sweet tea was probably the biggest surprise. Most bbq places have really good sweet tea. Theirs was not. Not horrible but bland like everything else. Get the ribs to go. We ate at Roxy's on Saturday the 31st of May . The wait was extensive and they were out of several items we picked out. That wasn't the worst part however. The ribs I had were ok. The sauce was nothing special. I would have liked a spicy sauce but they only have one sauce. Again that wasn't the worst part. There were 5 of us. My niece ordered fried pickles. They were plentiful and tasted ok but all the time they were sitting there the grease just dripped from them. I think the worst dish was the combo my sister and niece split. They got ribs which again were ok and hot link which was spicy and pretty good. The cold slaw was awful. The Mac and Cheese was ok(I'm not a fan). By far the most awful stuff was the brisket. I am 75 years old and never seen brisket that looked like that. Looked like they scrapped the bottom of the pan. It was actually in strings that looked like brown shoe strings. It was horrible. We told our waitress. No offers to make it right. She did good job of keeping drinks refilled. Sorry but cannot recommend. They were really busy so maybe we just had the only bad experience. Roxie's is true gem in Tahlequah. Fantastic service and food that's better! The cost per serving with the 1-3 meat combo is a great value and the operators are always out to make the experience as quality as possible. People in our group who don't like coleslaw felt like Roxie's was actually enjoyable. I don't enjoy jalapeño's but my group had great things to say. Overall, Roxie's was one of my favorite BBQ experiences in Oklahoma, and would recommend to anyone coming up this way! read more
