Our deck was very weathered, the wood was splintering, and it was sagging in one corner. Roy responded quickly and came out the next day for a free estimate. Once we approved the estimate, he quickly scheduled the job and knocked it out in one day. He replaced all of the deck boards and top part of our railing. He secured the frame to the house again so it would not sag and feels sturdy. Will update once we have good enough weather to paint as well. Update: The deck is painted and looks great. The Repairs that I needed done were long overdue. I have always wanted a handyman service but never came across one until now. I was first impressed with the reviews from other satisfied customers. Then with his responsiveness. Finally I was impressed by his professionalism before and during the job. The estimate came in an email and the rate was reasonable. It took a little time to schedule the actual start date (a few days) but that wasn't much of a hassle. Roy arrived ahead of schedule and finished the two jobs within the timeframe. The paint job around the vent looks great. However, the touch-up that you did to the wall to cover the small blemishes seems to be a bit distracting. We hired Roy to replace an attic vent that had fallen out. He came and gave us a price, expecting that he would go to Home Depot, buy a new vent, and install it. When he went to Home Depot, he found that our vent wasn't a standard size, so he built a new louvred vent out of wood and painted and installed it. He did a first-class job on the construction, working out of his very well-equipped truck. This was clearly a lot of extra work, but he charged only the original bid price. Roy is clearly the sort of quality business that we want to work with, and we'll be using him again. And I'm pleased to recommend him. I can't say enough about Roy as a handyman. Roy came for an estimate for a small flooring job in our bathroom. His rates were reasonable, and he had the best solution. He stands by his work, too, and came back to address something that needed to be re-done and noted multiple times that if there are any issues, he's available "24/7". He came earlier than the appointment time, and the guy even put on covers for his shoes when he walked in (it's the little details that help!). In any case, the guy was fast, efficient, and even answered questions I had about the project. In the end, the guy even offered to lower the price! I made an excellent choice in selecting Roy Handyman. First, he's responsive and trustworthy. He shows up on time and follows through on his word. I recently hired him to help me to design a more functional closet. My closet is narrow and oddly shaped so I knew it would be a challenge. After reviewing several estimates I received, I decided to go with Roy's company. Roy's quote was not the cheapest, but it was not the most expensive either. I chose to go with Roy's company for several reasons in addition to his company's positive reviews. Roy responded quickly and made time to provide an in-person estimate as soon as possible. He was punctual, listened to my concerns, and he even told me that a couple of areas I pointed out did not need to be repaired and saved me money. Roy did excellent work on the installation and repairs, and he is super patient. He took time to answer my questions and even explained why he was using specific products for certain tasks. Upon completion, Roy told me if I have questions or concerns about his work, to contact him and he will return to address them because he stands by his work. I would definitely recommend Roy. Apparently expecting a response from a business is "showing hate", or so the owner believes. After berating me for apparently not knowing that he had lost his business in the pandemic (how was I to know? His online profiles are still active, as per my initial review), he explains that updating Google and Yelp takes a while (setting an automatic message in your Gmail or an automatic voicemail for your phone number that explains to people you're no longer in operation takes 2 seconds, however, but hey, I'm not a business owner, what do I know?). I would've let this slide, but I find it curiously ironic that a business owner who complains about being bashed and shamed feels the need to do the same to a potential customer. From now on, we should all give 5-star reviews based on how nice the owner sounds, or how hard his life has been, because that's apparently the only acceptable standard these days. The pandemic has been hard on everyone - including on people saving their pennies to be able to afford hiring a handyman. I sure hope it hasn't killed professionalism, because that would be a lamentable loss. read more

Two steps were installed in less than two hours, which I expected, but I was still disappointed b/c I felt I overpaid for a simple step installation.
