Wonderful experience here!! It takes a village to raise a child, as they say, and having a…read moreprofessional in the village is awesome. We all connected well and everyone is super friendly! We're really glad we got to connect! If you are hesitant to include a therapist in your circle of people assisting you to raise your child, take a breath and get past it. You'll understand the value after the first visit!

I haven't been to Raise but Jess has treated someone I love. I have encountered many therapist and…read morethere are many out there who are clinically sufficient. What Jess brings to the table is something more, which was a genuine concern for my child. On one of our conversatios she said " I went on this run and I was thinking about"... she was thinking about my kid and how to help. She made me feel like we ( we because as parents, things that affect our kids affect us) were "seen." I think more often than not people get complacent in their careers, including the medical or mental health field, which I would chalk up to human nature. However, she never made me feel like my kid was number or just another patient. She was someone going through something and Jess was going to figure it out. We had to stop seeing Jess due to some circumstances out of my control. Which only lead us to a merry go round of therapists and it wasn't until then, that I was able to fully appreciate her, not only for her emotional investment in my child but also for her instincts, which were proven to be spot on. While on that mental health merry go round, I learned that not every therapist has the capability to convey a genuine sense of commitment and concern for their client/patient , however Jess did. Taking on someone else's emotional pain, trauma, anxieties and fears has to be one of the hardest jobs I could imagine, especially when it comes to children...so I can understand having and internal shut off valve and not fault anyone needing to enact that protective mechanism. But as a parent who's child hurts....I sure as shit want someone who sees my kid, as I see them. Once again I saw Jess early in her career. Not only do I magine that she has gotten better with time but I imagine now that she has her own practice, she chooses people who values their clients as much as she does. ...I did recently refer someone here and they had positive reviews about Jess, Teena and the facility.

I want to start out by saying my experience with Dr. Horowitz was not in line with other reviews…read more I actually was mandated by my employer to see Dr. Horowitz for a second opinion of the medical care I was receiving from my primary providers. Dr. Horowitz was very professional and asked a lot of probing questions and listened intentently to me. Although he was not my treating physician he suggested many new options for me to proceed with management of my serious health issue. I realize now that much of the work he had to do was tedious insurance paperwork, which my prior physicians had a difficult time completing. I found him to be extremely professional and efficient. He did not present to me as a soft shoulder to cry on. He presented as a highly educated psychiatrist with the latest information on diagnosis of mental illness, the available pharmaceuticals and adept at managing the insurance paperwork. my review is tardy but Ive finally gotten it together enough to write it.

I recently saw this doctor for help with my mental health and left feeling completely dismissed. Instead of showing any understanding, he refused because I'm "functioning." As a mother, I have no choice but to function--that doesn't mean I'm okay. The entire experience made me feel unheard and belittled. If you're looking for a doctor who will truly listen and support you, this was not my experience here. I wouldn't recommend him, especially for women going through real-life challenges who need compassion and understanding. Since then, I've found another provider who truly listens and treats me with respect. The difference has been night and day, and it just confirmed that the care I received here was not okay.

Let me first address some of the previous negative comments…read more This is a small office. They don't need to take new patients, the practice does fine on it's own with its existing clientele and the amount of referrals sent to the Schwartz group on a daily weekly and monthly basis from other specialists all over the valley. Dr. Schwartz has earned his reputation for being one of the top child psychiatrists in Arizona. No, they do not take insurance and it is expensive. But it is worth it. From someone that worked the system and had my son see several specialists just so I didn't have to pay for it or only had to pay for the medication, or only had to pay a small co-pay... I learned my lesson that you DO get what you pay for!!! I was initially upset that they didn't take insurance either and that it didn't count towards any sort of in network type billing. You have to submit it all and do it all on your own. But now, I'm five with it. Dr. Schwartz was referred to us by Dr. Andrew Wiessman who is by far one of the best behavior modification psychologists and specialist that I've come across after seeing, like I said, a substantial amount of doctors and therapists and counselors for my son. And I don't mean like two or three I mean like 40-50. My son was diagnosed when he was four years old with several different problems. Fast forward to six years old and he's diagnosed after several hospital visits and school valuations and tests with ADHD, Tourette's syndrome, borderline autism spectrum disorder, OCD, anxiety, pica, and defiance disorder. Now my son is nine years old, his Tourette's syndrome and movements and verbal tics are almost 90% controlled with the help of his neurologist, behavioral specialist, and Dr. Schwartz knowing his meds. Dr. Schwartz looked through my kids years worth of a medical bible extensively and through all of the medications that my son had been prescribed. He managed to correct medication dosage, and the types of medication within three visits. And we didn't have to wait until three visits, he started adjusting stuff at the very first visit and making suggestions. He's worked with both our neurologist and our behavioral therapist to help our son. We've had a total of four visits and we still have our ups and downs because our son is constantly growing and changing and these adjustments need to be made, but we can communicate with Dr. Schwartz via email or over the phone, and he will adjust things when given details. With Dr. Schwartz and Dr. Andrew, I have learned that you really do get what you pay for when it comes to mental help. You also need to work. It's not just the Doctor Who is at fault for a failed medication, or therapy. It's the patient or in our case the parents. My husband and I are divorced. We had to mend our fences to be able to help our child. We still sometimes don't see eye to eye, but we always do what's best for our child. We needed to make both of our households consistent, we had to agree on the medication, we had to agree to schedule, we had to reduce stress in our child's life, and much more. We realized that our own inconsistencies or problems and his treatment. I understand that this can't always be corrected with separated or divorced parents, or people with really erratic hectic schedules. I highly recommend this office, and I recommend this office on a regular basis. And to several people that have watched my son, and everything that he's gone through for the past five years, they have seen that this past six months has been extremely life-changing for all of us. The right team of people, really makes a difference, and if it's your child...I would hope you feel they are worth it. My ex-husband and I had to save for his first visit for a period of time. And then we do have to space out our appointments to be able to have the funds for each one. But it is worth it! My son is worth it! I thought I would never get my kids back. And with the help of Dr. Kruer and team at Phoenix Children's Hospital, Dr. Andrew Wiessman and Gilbert and Dr. Marc Schwartz I've gotten about 75% of the child I raised back. And that to me is worth every penny.

Long version: I was originally apprehensive because I couldn't find any reviews for Dana, and when I saw she worked 16 years as a midwife I worried she would be like some of my previous psychiatrists/doctors who made me feel uncomfortable about not wanting children or about being gay. But I really needed an appointment ASAP and she was the soonest available so I went out on a limb and I am sooo glad I did. Dana was absolutely wonderful. I have very bad anxiety and find it difficult to talk to people and I'm easily put off, but Dana was incredibly easy to talk to, kind, understanding, and she made me feel comfortable right away. I never felt judged, dismissed, or pressured. I felt listened to and respected, which made a huge difference. You can really tell she cares! I highly recommend paperflower to anyone.
