Great store with basics good. Loved the chocolate selection and browsed around. They've got wine/beer, non-alcoholic beverages, snacks galore even a few home items. I like higher-end bodegas because you can find things you wouldn't get at a 7-11 or the like. We stop in here when we need quick things for the kitchen or a quick snack. I like being able to grab a treat and some wine here if we're headed to a party or gathering. They have a decent amount of organic offerings as well. Friendly service. read more

This is so much more than just a grocery spot. I was having a particularly rough night and they were exceedingly helpful. As my injury prevented me from moving about too quickly, Aubrey did the shopping for me. I didn't even want to impose by asking, she offered. I was blown away by the care & compassion shown to me. My partner and I came in near close last night and the staff was so understanding. We apologized, we just needed to grab something for pain relief, and the girl with short dark hair was very nice about it and helped us choose. We sat outside on the deck for about and hour, people came in right at close and they still were kind about it and let them take their time even though it was an inconvenience for them. Convenient grocery store at the area of Austin that is chock full of millennials. It sells stuff from regular goods you can buy at supermarkets like Sara Beth's instant cake cream to hippy Tony's chocolate whose marketing ploy is that it's for the lonely people out there. Has a surprising amount of ice cream relative to the size of the store. Keto ice cream, Ben and Jerry's, etc. The smell inside is worth complaining about though. It smells like a restaurant that specializes in old deep fried food, but never opens the window or door to let the air circulate. The unpleasant smell crashes into your nose like an obnoxious rat. Parking is atrocious. The only people who a frequent this grocery store are people who live nearby and people who live at a hotel nearby. read more

Let's be honest here - royal blue is a boujee version of 7/11. The staff is nice and welcoming, but the problem is not with them. They charge more than $4 for 6 eggs. If that doesn't do it for you, they do have avacados! (That are normally overly ripened to the point of being inedible.) It's ok though, because they'll give you a 50% discount since they are rotting - but you'll still end up paying $1.50 for one. Just bulk on groceries at HEB down 7th street or spend your money going to a restaurant nearby. Don't bother getting overpriced beer here when you can walk 1 minute away to Zilker Brewing and grab a locally brewed 6pack from them. read more

I'm not sure about the internet but whats the actual law regarding restrooms as this was all I could find. Pretty frustrating and why I gave one star. All I could find below... This location sucks. I live in the apartments above it, but I've been accused of being homeless twice(while my 9 year old son was with me). The manager has left the conversation on two different occasions of taking my coffee order to go help another customer who's ordering too, as though I simply have no value and my existence is not important to her. Everyone at this location is rude, unwelcoming, and unpleasant. I go here when I need something and don't have time to go somewhere else simply because I live upstairs. Most recently I went to two other locations and noticed how staff was incredibly different and it made me realize how terrible the East Austin location is. read more

Located right in front of Liberty Bar and the East Side King located right off of E 6th street, Royal Blue Grocery is a quaint little grocery store that has wine and other drinks galore. You can also get a variety of snacks as well as fresh food items such as pre-packaged sandwiches, hard-boiled eggs and salads. You can even order off a menu that offers freshly made hot or cold sandwiches as well as blended coffee beverages. I even saw a variety of regular as well as fancy chocolates and we definitely bought some. Did I mention that they have a very extensive wine collection? They are open from 7 AM to midnight every day which is very convenient, especially for those late-night wine fixes as well as to satisfy food cravings at odd hours. In the daytime they have tables and chairs set up outside so you can enjoy your gourmet coffee concoctions as well as fresh sandwiches. Easily accessible to anyone on the east side of 6th street, the next time you're in the area, go check them out! read more

I work in the area and frequently pop in this location weekly. No matter who is working that day/time the staff is always super friendly and welcoming! The hot sandwiches are so good and their coffees/teas are addictive! One of their team members, Angel, created this amazinggggg tea latte that I highly recommend! Stayed in the area for a weekend and came here basically every day. Once for coffee and a breakfast croissant, once for some beer and once for a snack. We are from SF and this store reminds us of one of our little bodegas- it has half essentials (bread eggs milk soap toilet paper etc..) and half gourmet beer wines and snacks/ small meals. Love this place. Was helped by Lindsay who was incredibly knowledgeable professional and kind! Amazing customer service. They are lucky to have her. This is a very quaint mini market that has alcohol and a patio to drink in; their other wares include household items, some over the counter medications, and produce. Really neat and frequented by locals and tourists alike! Their pricing is super fair, and their staff works quickly and efficiently! I was going to have a productive night in, working on installing closet racks. Then, the first tool I picked up needed a battery. Change of plans. I figured Royal Blue Grocery would be the most convenient place to get one. So I biked one block over, to get a battery, and also glad to have an excuse to get one of my favorite sandwiches - their "Texas Holdem." The battery was much more expensive than I expected but I was already here. The sandwich was delicious as usual - a pressed melt with roast beef, cheese, peppers and perfectly toasty bread. It's usually just a tad too spicy for me, but worth it. I'm a wimp when it comes to spice. So I sat down on the curb to eat my sandwich because they'd taped off their tables... then a storm came in and I hid under an awning, savoring the sandwich as I waited out the storm. So much for working on my closet project. That will have to wait until tomorrow night. If you're going to have your plans dashed and be stuck in the rain, you'd be lucky if you had a sandwich from Royal Blue Grocery to make up for it and pass the time! read more

I've been to this location on 6th a handful of times and never experienced horrible customer service until today. There's usually a very sweet girl with a sweet soft voice that's there that is polite. I went there today and bought a sandwich. The cost was $7.03 I gave the cashier at the front $20.03 she tries to give me $8 and some change and I told her no I gave you 20.03 so I get $13 back. She pulls out her phone to calculate it and she still gives me $12 im like you owe me an extra dollar she throws my change at me and says "wow someone has an attitude today" in front of customers. I tried asking for a manager info and refused to give it to me. I'll spend my money some where else. read more

I used to go to the Rainey St location on a daily basis and was planning to continue my coffee quest at the east side location. unfortunately the manager has an attitude and the employees follow suit. I paid $6.70 for a latte and a 15% tip for the barista which, first of all, is ridiculously overpriced. It was not good. I had to run to work, and by the time I got there, the latte had really obviously separated out and the milk was evidently spoiled and particulate. I paid seven dollars for a latte made with spoiled milk and subpar service. Hugely disappointed and will not patronize a Royal Blue ever again. read more

Been to plenty of Royal Blues around town over the last few years. Because the East 6th location is so close to me now that I've moved to the East Side, I figured it'd be a place I'd go to with some frequency. My first week in the neighborhood, however, I popped in at lunch to pick up a sandwich, which tasted fine, but must the service be so subpar? I went to the counter to pay and had to wait nearly 30 seconds for the cashier, preoccupied with her phone, to look up and deign to acknowledge me. Apparently her text was that important. read more

This heathy and happy grocery store is the perfect one stop shop. I was visiting Austin for a week and this was my go to lunch spot. They have a wide variety of drinks, including local kombucha. Went into Royal Blue on my work break today, and what a break it was... I walked in and immediately broke a bottle of (very reasonably priced) kombucha. The employees were promptly on the scene to clean up the mess and replace my tasty beverage. Upon leaving the store with this new and intact drink, I trip and shatter yet another bottle-- Only, this time, I went with it. One of the Royal Blue employees found me laying in this probiotic puddle, dazed and bleeding. He then brought me back into the store where both employees helped clean/bandage my wounds. They provided me with my third and final Kombucha and I was back at work in no time. Tim & Brandon, you are my heroes. Royal Blue, My gut is happy, my wallet is happy, and I am happy.
