I never leave negative reviews, I don't even com eon here to leave good reviews, but our experience at Hotel Royal Decameron in Los Cabos was genuinely disappointing and completely derailed our vacation. We chose the resort because it was all-inclusive, yet we ended up having to leave the property for nearly every meal due to the lack of edible and appealing dining options. The food was consistently dull, dry, and visually unappetizing. Most options were basic rice and beans or themed "Mediterranean," "Asian," or "Spanish" nights, with no alternative comfort choices like pasta, soups, or even simple proteins. If you don't enjoy those diets, you're essentially left without a meal. There are only two restaurants, and one requires reservations made the day before between 7:00am-12:00pm. The resort was nowhere near busy enough to justify rules this strict, yet without a reservation, you simply could not dine there. Lunch options in that same restaurant were equally discouraging: chicken nuggets, an out-of-stock pizza (with a 30-minute wait), hot dogs, and a hamburger that inexplicably tasted like buttered popcorn. Service and beverages were another major letdown. The resort caters primarily to Spanish-speaking guests, so as American travelers we felt excluded from most interactions, activities, and simple conversations. The resort did not offer basics I'd expect at any all-inclusive like mimosas at breakfast, a working morning coffee bar, or pitchers of water (waiters would only give a single glass at a time). Drinks were made from an extremely limited menu and inconsistently prepared across the three bars. The "top shelf" vodka was Smirnoff, and most cocktails tasted like cough syrup. On multiple occasions we waited over 10 minutes for service, including having to track down staff. I also witnessed a bartender tell a guest they didn't have piña coladas -- until the guest tipped, and suddenly they did. At one point a bartender even hid his tip jar when my mother and I approached, as if we were going to steal it, which was insulting. The service attitudes throughout the property were apathetic at best and irritated at worst. We felt like an inconvenience rather than paying guests. Sheets on arrival were stained, the room doors had visible gaps letting light in from the hallway, and the noise levels made restful sleep nearly impossible. We seriously considered walking next door and rebooking at the Hyatt Ziva, even at $350+ per person per night, just to salvage the trip. This hotel was a waste of both money and time, and unfortunately it ruined what was supposed to be a relaxing trip -- something I was truly looking forward to as a nursing student planning a wedding and renovating a home. The staff are super friendly. inclusive resort but I'd much rather pay extra for a better experience. This is not an all adult resort either. I guess I was expecting something wayyy different. Came with one of my friends for a birthday get-away. Looks as if they are doing some remodeling and a few upgrades outside. No beach front rooms but the beach is just a walk from the pool area. They offered us conga punch as we walked in along with grabbing our luggage. The concierge carried our luggage and walked us to our room all while showing us the different places onsite to visit, like the buffet and the small restaurant. There is a swim up bar as well. They also have staff that does games and physical activities throughout the day/night. It looks as if they have events for the retired community or at least folks over 60. Its very relaxing and Im in my 40s, I just wish it was a little more lively but you get what you pay for. There is a spa and a gym as well.... I didn't care for the bugs in the shower and the shower head being in the ceiling. There was constant moving of furniture in the room next to us or above us. Could have been construction, still not cool if you have tenants occupying the rooms next to it and they are awakened by it at 5am on vacation. The food choices at Luna are basically small bites. I did see several people ordering lots of items though. The buffet for breakfast was better than the rest. There is a small convenience store across the street and a boutique in the lobby area. Starbucks, McDonalds (doesnt open until 12p) and a supermarket are all right across the street. Doesn't take long for Uber to arrive if you want to venture out. I probably wouldn't patron again. Just my opinion. Started raining as we were sitting on the beach on Saturday night. Got to the room and all of the power went out. What a way to start your birthday. Came here in May as we wanted all inclusive but not to spend too much. You do get what you pay for. Our room was good, the resort and pool were clean. There are two main eating places. The buffet within the main building and the cafe/restaurant by the pool. The buffet was okay, each day some of the breakfast items change and during dinner, it is different each night. They serve you so you can't just go up and grab what you want which we didn't like as they portion size it for you. They serve due to covid restrictions as you do need to wear a mask indoors. The pool one has same menu each day bit during lunch, it's more of a snack bar. At night, it has normal dinner items. Food was okay. The smaller pool was clean however the larger one was always murky, even when no one was in it. They have an upper adult-only pool which was good for lounging. The upper bar wasn't always open so you would have to go down to the main pool bar to get drinks. Each night, they have different entertainment which was good but super loud. Where to start? We had an awesome relaxing time at Royal Decameron. The service was fantastic always friendly and willing to help. Every time I asked anyone in the staff for help they were all quick and happy to do it. The staff was ALWAYS cleaning which was sooo reassuring in this covid time. I watched them clean balcony's after someone checked out which I didn't even think would be cleaned so thoroughly. They came every day and cleaned our room if the sign requested on the door. They would also clean all the common areas at all times of the day. Unfortunately, they only had two restaurants open which made the food options smaller than we are used to in all inclusive resorts but they did change the food options every day. We personally loved the Ceviche tostadas served at snack time in the Luna restaurant (11-5pm). The buffet area below the lobby always had different options but there wasn't too much food to pick from. Again, this is compared to other places we have stayed at where there 6+ restaurants. The breakfast was delicious as well. At the buffet they had tortilla chips with salsa, crema, cheese, and pico which we're to die for add a little egg and beans and I could be there ALL DAY . The reason this resort gets only 4 stars is the lack of restaurants but honestly it's not too bad. Another unfortunate Covid side effect was there were not enough events going on in the day. It seems like they cater to 40+ generations. The activities were Bingo, loteria, word of the day, or yoga. Not much to do outside of that and the resort was pretty quiet after 9pm. We could hear next door Hyatt still party well into 10pm and a lot of variety every night. Their nightclub was also shut down with the Spa so it really limited what we did. If you are looking for a quiet relaxing resort this is the one for you. If you need a bit more entertainment and would like a variety of food options this might not be the one. Staff here are so great and work so hard to ensure happiness of guests. This my 4 star rating. Enrique is outstanding who recognized me after 1 dinner at Luna. Anticipated every need after 1 dinner. Wish all the wait staff was on par with Enrique! Royal Decameron while smaller and less decadent than other massive hotels down the street has less amenity as well. More humble and clean rooms. One of few upgrades room with ocean views unlike Cabo Azul. Much better than Grand Faro down the block. Was scared of booking here due to negative reviews prior. But covid sanitization is off the charts. Sitting at Luna enjoying sunset dinner was my favorite pass time. Food at Luna is 3 stars. Avoid the buffet. Atmosphere and layout is amazing here. And a simple walk to the beach from there. Wish the pool could of been a bit more cooler. Food is absolutely amazing with many different options and ethnic cuisines each day. Plus they offer all types of drinks including alcoholic ones at any hour they are open. Wait staff was so attentive to your needs, always doing so with a smile. Please tip them sometimes for all they do, they show their gratitude. My biggest gripe was the bed. The beds are hard as a rock, so if you're a side sleeper have fun with that one. Would I come back? Sure I guess... but only if no other options are available. read more

First all inclusive experience. I enjoyed myself more then I expected to. Staff- was amazing, they have all of the information and you are welcomed with some nice refreshing drinks and smiles all around. Resort- very clean, beach access where you can actually touch the water and even walk down either way for a nice stroll. Very nice scenery. They provide bottled water every day as long as you ask for them to clean your room. Nice AC in the rooms that cranks pretty good. Rain shower heads which is a nice touch. Private balcony's to over look beach or even the night shows if you wanted. Very clean with all the necessities you need. Location was perfect, only downfall is there was no ATM in the resort but some near by across the street was a swim with the dolphin area and they had one. Also, a 7-11 kind of store called OXXO I believe and a mall walking distance to check out. The food- most important part. They had food available all all times that I needed it. Morning breakfast buffet which is nice because it was something different every morning. I went 3 mornings in a row. They have a made to order omelet station I heard was good. I was more for the beans and meat with tortilla chips kinda girl, yum. Lunch there is a buffet and a snack bar- buffet was nice to try different things and snack bar was a hit or miss. I had a steak sandwich that was good and nachos that I liked. It's cool because you can try whatever and it's cooked pretty fast. Dinner- make sure to make a reservation for Luna. It is right next to the beach really beautiful at night. I went on seafood night and I ordered the grilled salmon. I loved it. Even though I was full I still tried to finish it. I really had a great time. Drink were flowing, nice swimming pools, daily contests and activities. Plus you get the vendors selling you everything on the beach like blankets, hair braiding, horseback riding, jewelry, and henna. Please do not come here if you want to enjoy your vacation. The food is disgusting, they have strict meal cut offs and anything served to you is like rations. I could count the fries on my plate, there's no tea/coffee served throughout the entire day. The staff here are so RUDE! Immediately after checking in we wanted to check out. Just knowing we have 6 more days here makes me sick to my stomach. We asked to end our stay early and have a refund for the remaining days and we have to wait for a manager's approval, and guess what? No managers have been on site. Alright. This place is literally the worst. I don't leave bad reviews often but pretty much immediately after checking in, I realized that this place was gonna get a bad review. So... We started taking notes. Here is what we have so far. Mind you, we are three days in to our 5 day stay. We immediately rejected our first room as it was directly next to a bunch of very noisy construction and no view whatsoever. So we went to the lobby and asked for another room. They were going to give us one but they were rude about it and didn't want to move us. , We saw there was an all inclusive plus option and inquired. Against our better judgement, we paid for the upgrade which promised a premium experience. Top shelf drinks, priority dining and access to the "plus pool". We figured, the only chance at saving this vacation was going for the plus package. Mistake. Since we checked in, here is our list of craziness. Not sure how to order these so here's a big brain dump: 1. House keeping banging on our door at 730am. 2. No hot water- it got kinda hot.... Once. 3. Had to call 3 times to get some water delivered to the room.. 4. Beyond bottom shelf liquor. Things you've literally never heard of before... Like VAT 69 Whiskey? Sure thats what I want to put in my body! 5. No bartenders. Bar tenders will disappear for long periods of time. The exclusive plus area went for over an hour with no bar tender. 6. No one speaks English. I get it, it's Mexico. But We've been to many resorts geared towards tourists and at least we could communicate basic needs or orders with the bar tenders or buffet staff. An example was we asked the made to order chef what he was cooking, his reply "No". And then he walked away. The front desk and the staff at the Luna restaraunt we're good tho. 7. No poolside waiters. 8. No beach side waiters. 9. Cockroaches Yep. In the bathrooms. Probably everyhwere. 10. Bed hard as rock 11. Food sucks. It's all been very.... Very terrible. Like to the point where im worried I might be giving myself food poisoning with every thing I eat. 12. Way too much pitbull Mr. World Wide on repeat at the pool 24/7. 13. 3 songs playing at same time in different areas. Overlapping Pittbull is worse than regular Pittbull 14. Only 2 good waiters So far. Only 2 of the entire staff have been any good. Jose at Luna was great. Felt bad for him. He was handling the entire lunch shift on his own. He's doing his best in a bad situation. The Luna night wait staff was also pretty good and friendly. Denis was very also very good and funny. 15. Premium "fully stocked" plus package mini bar is 2 carona lights and 2 waters. 16. General attitude of bartenders very bad. Act like doing favor just to get you a drink. 18. Very bad vibe. No excitement. Bad atmosphere. Generally dingy, run down, sad. 19. Shower head corroded, barely flows. 20. Can't shut bathroom door. I am routinely banished to the balcony so my Fiance can poop in private. (On the up side, she's pooping more than normal, which has been an issue in her life, sorry babe. Now the internet knows) 21. WiFi sucks. Disconnects you 4-5 times per day. Slower than just using your phones data. 22. Housekeeping threw out our WiFi password. Called front desk to retrieve. Was on hold for an hour. Used the Hyatt next door free wifi 23. Dangerously hot coffee in snack area 24. No ice machines 25. Advertised as Adults only. But there are kids. 26. No wine keys in room. Plus package came with a half bottle of complementary wine. But no way to open it. We called for one. Over an hour later... Nothing. So we left. 27. Exclusive plus bar area was empty for over a day. 28. Every bar is always out of something. 29. Late night snack options are.... An experience. We walked into the buffet after a night out hoping to find something to munch on. We walked in to a group of staff and weren't sure if it was open or not. They said it was, then laughed and shamefully presented our options. They knew it was embarrassing. It was a pan of some super old looking mystery meat, and a couple soggy sandwiches. We opted to head back to the room. This place just sucks. It sucks super hard. Stay away at all costs. We aren't the only ones that feel this way. We have talked to other guests here and everyone has had the same impression. The Only good thing about this damp dark shack of a resort is its proximity to La Comer, which is a target/Walmart type store where we could go buy things that are supposed to be included in our all inclusive package. I went last year 2018 and I fell in love with the resort and the people. So I decided to go back this year for my birthday September 8-13 2019. I had a great time. If you are looking for a chill relax resort, this is it. I love that it's an All Inclusive resort. Which means all you can eat and drink. I booked through Bookit.com payed $500 did a payment plan, everything was good to go. Do your research and you'll get hooked up. The food is okay, they have two restaurants one is a buffet the other you have to make reservations before 5pm(at the front desk) The reason I went back was for the staff/all inclusive drinks. Very welcoming don't forget to tip even though it's all inclusive. Rooms are very dirty. Shower was overflowing. The floors were disgusting. The buffet style menu offers some options but most are variegation of rice or pasta and some meats. Food was often very salty. Soft drinks and water were only given at the start of the meal in small cups. The alcoholic beverage menu is very limited and most of the options aren't very good. Drinks are all in small cups and the bar is always overly crowded. For the amount they're charging I hope the employees are making a liveable wage and not being overworked. Adjust your expectations as a North American and you'll be fine. The Royal Decameron--and in fact all foreign travel--is a dialogue between you and the host country and host property. Not everything is going to be exactly the way you want it. There will be blips and there will be delights. My wonderful wife took me here for my birthday, as part of an insanely inexpensive all-inclusive package. Two people flew many thousands of miles across latitudes and spent several nights and didn't pay for anything on-site: that's pretty significant. Even though Royal Decameron is a standalone hotel, it's so heavily tied into vacation packagers that you'll probably end up there as a result of a vacation packager. In fact, many rooms at the Royal Decameron had small signs noting that they are inclusive-package rooms. Some things that stand out, as plusses or simply observations: * CLEANLINESS: The hotel is incredibly clean. It's hard to stress how clean this place is. Workers were constantly sweeping and cleaning up everything, everywhere. Even non-descript inner hallways leading to the pool were being mopped and re-mopped all the time. Whether this is a factor of COVID, we don't know. But I do have a feeling that it's clean all the time, COVID or not. * FRIENDLINESS: Almost all (more on that in a bit) of the staff were very friendly. The women who staff the buffet room (Mercado) are helpful, friendly, cheerful. They are the front-facing staff, so we noticed them the most. But even staff such as housekeepers were very cheerful and helpful. * CLIENTELE: If you're a Norteamericano/a, you'll be in the minority. Most of the patrons appear to be Mexicans: families with kids, young couples, some extended families that appeared to be meeting up there, etc. Once at breakfast, we noted that we were the only North Americans. Just something to note. If you want to be among your citizens, go to the Hyatt next door. * LANGUAGE: Just expect that Spanish will be spoken, except for the staff members who do speak English. And there is a number, but not many. Anyone at the front desk will be fluent in both languages. Anyone by the front door or who takes bags to the rooms. A number of the restaurant people. But that's about it. On the downside: * GRUMPY DUDES: If we ever had bad encounters with staff, it tended to be the men--not all. Just some of them. At the worst, we had a gentleman who made his displeasure of us known. We don't know what we did wrong. He didn't like us from the beginning of the meal, and it ended with him grousing about something at the end of the meal. We were nothing but polite to him. Perhaps it's a cultural thing, but the older men on staff could be gruff or resentful, for no apparent reason. VERY friendly men staff who are exceptions to this grumpiness pattern include Cruz (very chatty, helpful) and another gentleman whose name we didn't catch who waited on us at Luna (effusively friendly and helpful and courteous). * MUSIC: Royal Decameron needs to realize that they aren't Party Central and shut off the constant music. For hours, music THUNK-THUNKED from the central bar (Temptation), with not a single person there. The hotel needs to re-frame itself and leave the party to other properties. You honestly cannot escape the music, except by going to the beach. *FOOD: Foodies will not be satisfied here. Our view of the resort was clouded by the dreadful "Oriental" night buffet. Food is, at best, satisfactory. Nothing really made us ooh and ahh with delight. Breakfast was the best. Plenty of baked goods, decent coffee, an omelet station, potatoes, tortillas, beans. No shortage of choices for breakfast. In the end, this is cheap sun. You get fantastic views of an azure-blue sky above a white beach. Waves crash high in the air, due to the steep beach. Forget your cares and relax, knowing that you don't have to mortgage the house or sell the children to finance this vacation: four stars. read more

It's been quite the stay. 10 days of sun and sand, and issues. The place is a little worn and dated. The food was disappointing and monotonous . We wound up eating in town more. It can be extremely noisy at times. We had to ask multiple times for hand towels and facecloths. I guess management tried to fix things by having our room fixed up fancy once...but any complaints we had we were offered dinner at the fancier restaurant on site which wasn't much better. After three times of being offered this it was by no means a reward. The staff was friendly, but any enjoyment we had disappeared when a large bug came with my wife's pudding dessert. San Jose Del Cabo is a wonderful location. We won't be returning to this hotel. read more

Royal Decameron was the first all-inclusive resort I've ever been to in my life (I've been on 2 cruises before Carnaval and Royal Caribbean). And after weeks of deciding between places in Cabo, I settled for RD. To say the least I wasn't disappointed. Only because I didn't have major high expectations. It is true that you do pay for what you get, this resort isn't the cheapest, but it isn't very expensive either, it's on the more inexpensive side. Regardless, this place met my basic expectations so I was happy. -Clean room -Random activities or something for you to do so you aren't completely bored -Enough beach/lounging chairs -Friendly bartenders -Food was edible and to my opinion good (not foodie good, but mid grade-ish good) -Staff spoke English and were friendly -Resort was tidy-ish -Walking distance to MEGA (why I picked this place, so I can mini shop) -Had an adult pool (no children pee, but I guess you're stuck with adult pee) -AC worked in the rooms! -Quiet enough to sleep at night Again, I came here to just chill out, relax, sit around, eat, sleep, and do nothing. We spent 4 days at this hotel and had nothing but a great experience. We were a family of 6. With two kids 10 and 1. Montse, Rodrigo, German, all went above and beyond to help us feel welcomed. They all took time to talk to my 10 year old Jacob and make sure he was having a good time. They asked him to participate in pool games and picking songs for the DJ he really felt special there. He didn't want to leave and asked when can we come back. Service was 100% the food is amazing bartenders were friendly the pools were clean and the ocean view superb! Even leaving everyone made sure to say bye to Jacob and made sure to go out of their way to give him a hug a high five or a little trinket. this resort is in serious need of upgrading, the rooms are old and rundown. On arrival our air conditioner and fridge were not working, we told the front desk, they were repaired the following day. our room was not very well cleaned, I used a cleaning wipe on a small portion of the floor, it came out black, the bathroom mirror had what looked like toothpaste and soap splashes on it, the closet door and shower door had not been wiped in a very long time. I informed front desk and asked for my room to be cleaned better, I could see the floor had been wiped, but not much more. We had to continually go to the front desk to have our door card reset, some days 2 or 3 times...very inconvenient when your wet and cold from a swim, or just simply to tried for another two flights of stairs and 2 long hallways. This was an issue echoed from people we traveled their with and other guests we met. The staff did not seem to care how many times one had to make this trek, the blame was put on the guest, i was told over and over I must be getting it to close to my cell phone, this was not the issue for me. The adult pool area has serval missing tiles, chunks out of concrete and in general disrepair. Public bathrooms next to pool table, the faucets on both sinks have fallen down, it is difficult to wash your hands as you are required to hold the faucet up to have the water fall on your other hand. The food was mediocre. not much variety from day to day. Usually room temperature for foods that should be hot. Very slow to replenish empty dishes. This was my first time in Mexico and what a great introduction this was. I picked this hotel because of how close it was to the beach. When i first got there i was greeted by a bunch of smiling faces of all the employee's and directed to the front desk where they promptly checked me in. After being checked in a bell hop carried my bags and personally show me to my room, i thought wow what great service. From there i explored the resort which keep in mind i got the all inclusive package, and i noticed how clean everything was and how friendly everyone was. After a quick exploration of the resort and the two restaurants i found myself at the beach which was a two minute walk from my room and took time to enjoy the scenery. Now for the food. The food here was alright nothing to rave home about and trust me i tried everything, but the fact the it was included with purchase made it better than it would be if i paid for individual meals. My favorite meal had to be breakfast, i had the omelet almost every morning that i was there. All in all i would come back i had a great relaxing time here. Pro tip if you want to party this isn't the resort for you,you would want to check out the San Lucas part of Cabo. PS i really loved the fact that this is a kid free resort. read more

Me and my family stayed at Royal DeCameron over a month ago and we cannot stop talking about our experience. The person who had the best impact on us was Señor Cruz, he went above and beyond for us whenever we had issues or even questions. Beach and pools beautiful food and beverages ok. Staff most were lovely. My big problem was with reservation and front desk irresponsible. We requested at booking ground floor accommodations due to an elderly relative and two post surgery family members and for our 5 rooms to be together. We arrived and only 1 room on first floor was available the others on 2nd and 3rd floor. 3 rooms were not clean, no towels, hair in shower, food left in room. 1st floor room belonged to someone else! They gave us a key and allowed us to enter a room they had given to someone else! Unfortunately this wasn't a one time situation. One three different occasions guests along with porter tried to enter one of our rooms. The last straw was when they gave away my daughters room which was paid in full!!! She had spent one night in the room and the next day there was someone else's belongings in her room! read more

First of all the service of the hotel was amazing, everybody look happy and happy to help you with any problem. The buffet ... i love it everyday something different, from asian, mexican, french, italian, hawaiian etc. The breakfast was amazing, from sopes to tacos, chilaquiles, juice, fruit, eggs, hot cakes, mexican bread, dessert, etc. The hotel was wow i love the modern decoration, the rooms, the restaurant but mostly the bar! They have a private upstairs infinity pool only for adults, you can drink your beers and chill at the pool meeting new people. The bartenders especially Manuel excellent service. Found this hotel via Orbitz while looking for all-inclusive hotels in Cabo. This one stood out because it was at the time brand new and had an amazing promotional deal. Royal Decameron is a 3 star hotel and it definitely shows. Be prepared to pay for your internet (wifi is $10 per day) and the safe in the room. They do not carry any top shelf liqueur. No waitstaff is around the pool area to take the drink orders. Hotel is located in San Jose, not in Cabo, on one hand its very quite but it you want to go out you have to take a 20 minutes cab ride to town. The landscaping and the grounds are very well kept, the rooms are spacious enough. I found the bed to be very stiff and the sheet were extremely starchy and crunchy. There are only 2 restaurants on the property that you can dine in, one of them is a buffet which was the best option. There are 2 swim up bars, and both are very understaffed. Bartenders are unenthusiastic, not even cracking a smile, working like robots. So with that said, the overall service is poor, including the check-in process (btw, you can't check in before 3 pm). Not sure if i would recommend to stay in this hotel if this is your first time in Cabo. read more

Okay so I read every review before coming here on yelp and trip advisor and I was super nervous because of the bad reviews butt man where all those bad reviews wrong! First off transportation! From the airport to the hotel was like 14 usd per person! (Just a warning) Check in: Painless we arrived around 2ish the bellboy (shout out to Cruz) took our bags , they gave us our wristbands and we went to eat and drink until our room was ready at 3! Room: Our room was beautiful , had a balcony and we could see the pool and beach! Food: Okay I saw several people saying they don't change the food or the food was nasty THEY ARE WRONG! The food was different everyday! And I lovedd it! Another Warning! If you want to go to Cabo San Lucas, it's about 40-45 usd to get a taxi! We found an activity called Party Hopper and it was $40usd and they picked us up from the hotel around 8:30 and took us down to San Lucas and we partied the night away and was brought back around 2. Mind you the clubs stay open until 5am so you are welcome to stay later you just have to pay for your own transportation back! It included tequila shots and beer on the drive their and welcome shots at each club! All and all I loved this hotel! I don't see how people could write such bad things! read more

It's not a huge resort so it has an intimate feel and the staff get a chance to remember you. The staff is very kind and they make all the difference. The food is fairly decent. Try to get a table at the sit down restaurant if possible. The food is a little bit better there than it is at the restaurant. The drinks were pretty good too. read more

Overall a good experience at the Royal Decameron. Room was great! A/C blew cold and had a separate remote for it. Nice balcony and HUGE bed! Although some of the other reviews stated the bed was too hard I found it perfect. THERE IS NO ROOM SERVICE Also the hotel only has two restaurants and they do not allow food 'to-go'. Pool was empty and there are always chairs available. Beach is super nice but isn't for swimming. Waiters and hotel staff were always professional. The food was okay. That's the only reason for the four stars. Tip if you want all the alcohol ;) To get there I just booked a shared van online from the airport. I will be back! read more

For the price that you pay this place is absolutely incredible. The value that you receive and the benefits are second to none for very little money. My room was always clean and spotless. Not sure how people say the floors and bathrooms were dirty. I was at this hotel for 8 nights and I didn't see that once. PEOPLE NEED TO HAVE REALISTIC EXPECTATIONS FOR THE PRICE THAT YOU PAY TO STAY HERE. IN MY OPINON, YOU PAY FOR WHAT YOU GET!!! If you want Ciroc, Grey Goose, Jameson, Patron. ETC. You shouldn't go here. However, they do have Captain Morgan, Bacardi, Smirnoff, Jack Daniels. ETC. People need to have realistic expectations with the alcohol, and same with the food. You won't be receiving high-end steaks, shrimp and lobster every night. However, the food they had was very adequate and it didn't taste nearly as bad as other people claim. There's not a ton amount of selection but at the same time the food could have been a million times worse. The activities at the resort were very well done. There's about four people who do their best to keep everyone active, engaged and to have fun. Regardless of your age, the staff wants you to have a great time and meet new people. The pool is beautiful and super clean. Not to mention, they have two pools and the temperature in the pools were perfect. They do an amazing job cleaning it every night. The INFINITI POOL IS AWESOME WITH SUCH AN AMAZING VIEW. THE OCEAN IS SWIMMABLE, HOWEVER, IT IS VERY RISKY. MY GIRL FRIEND GOT A DISLOCATED SHOULDER IN THE WATER BECAUSE THE WAVES ARE SO INTENSE. Swim at your own risk. The sand and the landscape is incredible though. All in all, everyone needs to understand that if you want a 5 star resort you are going to pay five star prices. If you love your vacation prep filled with stress, tons of phone calls, hours on hold, and rude booking staff, then this is the place for you! The online booking experience was a total nightmare! I've never had such an awful experience. They need to allow international transactions online to book rooms. It was countless hours of being sent all over Central America, South America. and Jamaica, to try to get assistance. The US contact was no help either. And the worst part was arguing with a completely unprofessional employee, Norberto, who was degrading and disrespectful and rude. We had the bilingual pleasure of arguing in Spanish and English but we may as well have been talking to a brick wall. The saving grace was the on-site manager, Carolina Diaz, who finally resolved the issue and upgraded our room. She at least positioned us to try to change our mindset back to vacation mode and salvage some enjoyable days. All of the on-site staff were amazing! The online staff were unhelpful and disorganized. The rooms, restaurants, and exterior all need upgrading and fresh decorating. Get rid of the weird nude art! (Used to be a swingers resort) New fixtures, paint, etc. Pool shouldn't be repaired (fixing cement at swim up bar) while guests are using it. Safe in room was out of battery power. Drinks were poor quality alcohol and the blended cocktails had a bad taste of aspartame or saccharine. There were no activities or entertainment at all. Only two restaurant options and bars open sporadically. Nice things: good Covid precautions, caring on-site staff, low capacity so no lines for food or bar drinks, and plentiful poolside chairs. Royal Decameron was an ok experience. Went for a bachelorette party and we had fun. I wouldn't come back though. PROS: clean rooms and the drinks are good (but not that strong). Food at the buffet was ok, not the best thing I've ever eaten. Dinner at the restaurant was also ok. The view is amazing. Staff is extremely friendly. I felt safe. CONS: "snack" as they call it aka lunch at the restaurant was HORRIBLE. It reminded me of a high school cafeteria. Couldn't swim at the beach. Pool smelt like a sewer and I questioned even swimming in it. The place was pretty dead. My flip flops got stolen while in the pool. Dance club was lame. These beds are like a cement slab...better off sleeping on the floor....the room is decent if like cracks in the wall and furniture. If you're someone who needs a good nights rest, then look somewhere else. Food and Drinks are good but the rooms are not! If you'd like privacy, when you use the bathroom look elsewhere as these doors don't even close! WARNING it's super far from Cabo San Lucas $40 cab ride one way. There's not much food around here so you're pretty much stuck with hotel food and it is worst than frozen food! I've been very depressed on my vacation because I thought we'd relax and enjoy all inclusive food but not even worth the trip. You are better off paying extra to Stay somewhere nicer. HOTEL: nice but not so clean and the shows they have shows at 9pm that are sooo loud I heard the whole thing from my room. Staff is super friendly but only down fall is that they don't clean your room if you been out to lunch and swimming all day you'll come back to a dirty room. The Royal Decameron is clean and safe. The rooms are reasonably priced and fairly well maintained. The kitchen waitstaff and kitchen staff at the standard buffet go above and beyond. Their hospitality is unmatched. Luna, their premium restaurant, left something to be desired. If you're going to stay here, I highly recommend you get the premium package. It's well worth it. Be warned--THERE IS NO WIFI IN THE ROOMS. This was a huge downfall for the Decameron. They refused to refund us for the wifi they did not provide, and the front desk staff was fair at best. Oh, Royal Decameron, where do I begin? I want to leave a detailed review, so that you can decide if this resort is good for you. If I had to do it all over again, I would not have stayed here for the time that I was in San Jose Del Cabo, yet the experience was not all that bad so I want to be fair. Check-In: Very nice experience; the staff was very friendly and welcoming. We were greeted with drinks and smiles. Room: We booked through a third-party, which is always a tough call with resorts. In this case, we got the "expedia room" which was al the very end of the hotel. The room was small, but clean. The fridge was already stocked with water, soda and beer. The A/C unit in the room was broken, and made a loud banging noise all night long. Our first night's sleep was not good. When we went to the desk the next morning and asked for another room, we were told, "Why didn't you tell us about that?" Not the best response, considering the resort was at about 25% occupancy. We had to wait for maintenance to fix the A/C, which they did. Water was always hot; room service was always great. Rooms were always cleaned very well. No issues with cleanliness at all. Amenities: This hotel charges for Wi-Fi. That blows my mind, considering almost every other resort in the corridor does not. At $10/day, that's just too much. I hope they consider chaning that. The buffet at the hotel was decent. Since there is so much amazing food in Cabo, I would encourage you not to depend on hotel food for your stay. We relied on the buffet for breakfast and the occasional snack. This is not the kind of place that you want to eat for dinner however, as it would be a 2-Star restaurant tops. The other "option" to eat is Luna, the restaurant of the hotel. You have to make reservations by 11am for this one. Big disappointment, not worth your time. The one time we did go, the attendant completely ignored us, and we waited for about 40 minutes for a pizza and quesadilla that seemed like it might have come from the clearance rack at Walmart. If you are counting on having Luna as a dining option, don't book at this hotel. Hmm....what else? Well, there was a bullet hole in the ceiling of the hall. That was a neat sight. The remote on our TV never worked. Maintenance came to "fix" it but left. Not a big deal, we didn't watch any TV but the problem was never fixed and that says something about the hotel experience. There is a "Mega" shopping complex across the street which is a great way to keep stocked on all of the essentials. There is a La Comer that has everything you might need. The hotel is only minutes away from downtown SJC, and if you want to walk there it's doable. You can also take a local bus for about $1, which is really fun. The pool is nice, and very well-maintained. The fitness room is free, and it is comprehensive. This hotel does have a Jacuzzi, but it is part of the spa and therefore at least $30/day. The activities at the resort were well done. The team that handled the daytime events and evening shows was great. Aside from the one person at the desk on day two, everyone was very kind and welcoming. On the subject of booze, this all-inclusive is very accommodating! Just remember to keep tipping the staff, and they will keep the liquid flowing. The beach is not swimmable, but it is very beautiful. Sunrise and sunset were a treat. So, for the price, in SJC you can do better. Would I do it again? No, I would not stay at this location for the same price. It would have to be about 30% less to make it worth my while. Do I regret staying here? No. 99% of the staff made the trip worth it. It is clear that the staff wants to keep you happy and most of them seem to enjoy being there. I would say they are doing their best to keep guests entertained while getting pennies pinched by management. That's a tough job for anyone, and I appreciate everyone we met. read more
