I came down to Philly really just to hit Royal Farms, as my comments were bustling with Royal Farms Fried Chicken recommendations. I was skeptical about eating gas station fried chicken, but the sheer number of supporters they have curb stomped my fear. I hopped out of the uber to a Winter Wonderland, as snow had been POUNDING the City of Brotherly love all night. A personal existential crisis ensued: If I reviewed the RoFo fried chicken outside in the snow, it would undoubtedly get more views than if I ate it inside the gas station. However, the most fair rating would be inside because the chicken would be unaffected by the elements. At this point, I had to ask myself "Who do I want to be? The guy doing things for views, or the guy doing it for the love and integrity of the game." I decided to do it outside, but when I opened the door to a gust of bone chilling wind, I had to call an audible. I just knew doing it inside was the right thing. Good vs evil is a battle we all must fight every single day. This fried chicken was SMACKIN. Nice crunch on the exterior, with the breast even being tender and juicy. Do you know how hard it is to get tender breast meat on some fried chicken? It's truly an art. 9.1/10 from me. I just left from there and I was trying to order some food considering I didn't have much options because most of the food was either dried out looking or a few pieces. I decided to go with the chicken tenders and fries since the tenders looked as if they were the freshest items on display. I kindly asked the man that was making the food if he could drop me some fresh fries since there were only a little bit and multiple had just walked in and started placing an order as well. He told me that the fries were sitting there for a "little less than an hour". I said to him I could see if you said 20 mins maybe even a half an hour but I don't want any fries that been sitting out for "a little less than an hour". He refused customer service for something so simple. I don't understand how are you the manager of something when your physical appearance is of someone who shouldn't even be working with the food. No gloves on, shirt not properly tucked in, hair sticking all out of the hat which possibly has fallen in someone's food and you don't have good customer service skills on top of that. The young lady at the front register looked clean and kept and way more presentable and she wasn't even a manager based off of what she told me. This was also about 11:00 pm. We got to know the food prep guy, Michael Dortch. He would call us out by name and knew our Slushy choices! Alright... I have been waiting to review this royal farms since they opened. When they first opened towards the beginning of the year, everything was fantastic except they were slow. They were short staffed, but the to order food tasted awesome. Since then they have gotten faster, the staff is never short and is always super nice, and the atmosphere is a little calmer than the closest Wawa. I honestly would have given them a 5 star review if it hadn't been for the past 3 times I have been there. Today was THE LAST TIME I will actually buy to order food there. 2 out of the 3 times we have been there in the past 2 months they forgot our sauces. They were busy so I thought that it was not a big deal, just annoying. Today.... My husband found a twist tie in his burger, My mashed potatoes tasted funky, and there was a hair in my chicken sandwich. After having visited another royal farms out of state, and after being served without error at wawa the past 4 years, I just can't understand how the food service has gotten so terrible. The only reason that this isn't a 1 star review is because other than the made to order food everything seems perfect. The store is always clean, displays are great, the carwash is cool and getting gas has never been a problem, the rewards program is excellent.... everything else deserves 5 stars, but the made to order food deserves like half a star. The staff was pleasant and helpful and went out of their way to navigate the screennn mmc. Bbvh hv vc . ordering system for me. The bathroom was clean and well stocked . I know that royal farms tries to be eco friendly . But the amount of salt on the chicken!!! It was deadly. This Royal farms has to be one of the worst stores out there. As a lifelong Philadelphian, I love Wawa! I do also like Royal Farms. It's great to have the same concept but a bit different in the area. Royal Farms really does have some good chicken. It's usually hot, fresh and delicious. This time around not so much. My chicken was luke warm and my wedges were cold. This location is very dirty and unorganized as well. I do like the self checkout here and Royal Farms sells beer. That's a huge advantage over Wawa. My recent trip to this location had me stuck in a world of disappointment. I ordered four sliders. Four different sliders. None required cheese. My atomic had cheese and lettuce which is not how it comes. Two of the sandwiches weren't even chicken. It was beef cut in half on each slider bun. I spent 25 minutes waiting for my food after paying for it. The employee preparing my food was on his phone via airpods that he was trying to hide. The language he was using was very inappropriate. There was only two people working and one had to keep leaving to work the register. This marks Royal Farms' first shot into the Philadelphia, the only other ones in the area are in Delaware County and Jersey, and it's at a pretty good location just off Aramingo. I stopped by about 2 weeks after it already opened, and it's a bustling hub of people passing through. There's a large number of gasoline pumps, a car wash, plenty of parking, and it is a nice clean store with clean restrooms. This is a great new store for Royal Farms, especially for bringing its "world famous chicken" to Philadelphia for the first time. You can't help but miss it, being that its "fresh kitchen" practically takes up half the store. You can walk straight in and see chicken in a variety of options, but you gotta stop at the touchscreen ordering stations to get your hands on it! Chicken is the opus of a Royal Farms, just as hoagies are to Wawa. I've written before that I'd prefer to taste a hint more spice in Royal Farms chicken, and that I wouldn't go out of my way for it. While I haven't changed that general opinion, a second-shot at their chicken left me thinking that it was in fact pretty darned good. This time I got the chicken tenders (which were plump and juicy) and western fries (delicious potato wedges coated in a very light batter); both were delicious and left me wanting more. I don't have to go much out of the way anymore, being that this store is in my general neck of the woods. The aisles of Royal Farms have product shelves that are all lit up with LED lights, giving the store an added air of elegance. Check out this store, if you're in the area. Waited 50 minutes for chicken, realized the worker cleared our order since she was taking to long and went out for break so had to wait. Realized we were only waiting for 2 out of 16 pieces of chicken, so asked to substitute out those thighs for something faster. On the way back, realized they didn't season our fries (which they gave us a size that was one too small). At home, while adding seasoning, the box fell apart and all fries fell on floor so that was that. First off Royal Farms is a convenience store attached to a gas station, for the area it's relatively clean and staff is usually very friendly. This review will be for the fried Chicken. I've heard how good the fried chicken is here by many folks, all of which have never been to the south. As a long time resident of the south a gas station claiming to have the best fried chicken is pretty crazy. I went for the 3 piece meal with fries and a roll. The fries are the big ol' wedges, hearty portion, more than enough to fill you up by itself. The chicken was a very nice sized portion and pretty juicy too. The breading was decent and seasonings were also decent. The best part was the price at $5.79 including 2 dipping sauces. I liked it but the chicken doesn't hold a candle to a zaxbys, bojangles or publix for juicy flavors. Realizing I cannot get those places here has to account for something and I would have this chicken again for sure but it's not the first thought triggered when I think of fried chicken. read more

I bit and went for their "Buy 6 Energy Drinks, Get 1 Free" "deal", and here's what ensued: When my 7th/free one came up, it was 3am. The 2 girls working had no idea how to honor it. They actually told me twice, "It's not how many drinks you get, it's how many days in a row you come in", which was obv complete bs, which was confirmed by the Cherry Hill location that i called and asked. So i returned a few days later during the day, and the girls working there said, "I have no idea about that offer" even though there was a sign on the drink case for it. She was going to let me just walk out with a free one, but i said something rude (which i felt was warranted at the time b/c -- how can you run a deal in which ppl give you their hard-earned money, and then make them jump through hoops, lie about it, claim to not know about it?) I actually got out my phone and got her on video saying i could walk out with it! But when i said something rude on the way out, she called the cops and took a picture of my license plate to accuse me of stealing!!! I gave the drink back and never (and will never) returned. Saw this place on DoorDash and decided to give it a try. I ordered a two-piece chicken tender meal, chicken slider, two hashbrown patties, and a bag of Krispy Kreme mini crullers. Instead of chicken tenders, they sent me a thigh and drumstick and only passed along one hashbrown. I gave my housemate the dark meat and they said it was really good. The fries were rustic and steak cut like what KFC had before the latest switch but they don't have the seasoned flour coating. They tasted good but needed salt, not very crispy though. The hashbrown patty was good, wish I had received the second one. Chicken slider was cold and a little bland. The mini crullers were great. Update!!! 1/29/20: just went in and saw brown roaches climbing on the milk shake machine!!! The man working laughed and said "don't worry, they don't eat a lot!" This location is always dirty. ALWAYS. Trash all over the floors, sticky self check out, dirty coffee station etc. you can almost always count on their coffee to be empty or disgusting. Literally the worst tasting coffee I have ever tried. I have never in my life been in a store that always has empty boxes on shelves.. for days at a time. You can expect them to be out utensils, straws, napkins or coffee lids.. They switched to all self checkout and I would say 50% of the time at least 1 of the 3 register is down.. then when you order food you will be waiting at least 15 minutes. I love this place. Great prices on gas, I get .10 cents off per gallon for being a rewards member. Regular is $1.95, not bad for Pennsylvania considering we have a high gas tax. If I could give less than one star I would. The people who work here are nice. But they are understaffed. They are not trained. Always out of food. You order. You pay. You go to pick up. "Sorry. We are out". Fill the tank and get a car wash? Chances are the receipt won't print at the pump so you have to inside and get a receipt print out. And then when you get to the car wash it's out of service. Don't sell car washes if the car wash is out of order. Hire enough people to run the store. Safe bet you need more than two or three people. A constant disappointment that is always dirty. No one ever answers the phone. They do not care about customers or employees. That is loud and clear. read more

I want to like this place so bad but it never delivers. Weather is bad, I get it, emoloyees call out, I get it. I walked in ordered my breakfast, made my coffee, then paid. The cashier was a cook trying to fill in. I then went back to get my food and noticed only one other guy in the whole building and he was making chicken for customers and didn't look like he was experienced in that either but both guys were trying. After 20 minutes I asked if they were going to make my breakfast sandwiches and he said no. Myself and several other customers had to get refunds. after hearing some friends talk about royal farms i had really high expectations. i went many miles out of my way to give it a shot and unfortunately i was a little disappointed. to begin, i went at approximately 615AM so there were no lines or crowds. the store itself is very spacious inside which i think is part of the problem. its EMPTY space. i didnt find the store to be very welcoming at all. it was just kinda blah. very bright lights and no welcoming colors or signage. just alot of space. i went to the counter to check out the menu then used the touch screen to place my order. i wanted to specifically try the chicken bcuz i heard it was really good. so i ordered chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy. the young lady who waited on me misread my order and gave me chicken, mashed potatoes AND potato wedges. she realized her mistake after the fact and let me have it all anyway. fine, i get to taste test one additional item. cool. on to the food. the chicken was tasty but not the best ive ever had. about the same as kfc but not as good as popeyes. it was hot and moist so no complaints. the mashed potatoes were not good. they didnt taste like real mashed potatoes. the white "gravy" that came with them seemed to be very "sour creamy" for lack of a better description. the wedges were a total bust for me. entirely TOO BIG. dont get me wrong, i love potato wedges but they were ginormous and not very flavorful. kfc wedges are definitely better. overall the meal was just okay. i would absolutely NOT go out of my way again to patronize this establishment. read more

Where to start. I have been waiting for this place to open since I knew what it was. I even waited a week or so for the new crowds to die down. I finally get to go and was slightly disappointed. For a store that's brand spanking new, there was trash all over the floor. Wawa WOULD NEVER !!!. I looked past the trash, and figured maybe they were swamped earlier and didn't have time. I ordered my food, in this case just plain chicken noodle soup. You can't mess up chicken noodle soup, right? WRONG! the noodles didnt feel right when chewing, texture was off. and the taste was weird. HOWEVER, I will say that the staff was very nice and service was great.
