I'm happy to report that CVS executives, FINALLY, took the steps needed to GREATLY IMPROVE the CVS Pharmacy on Fairmount Avenue in Philadelphia. The deeply problematic pharmacy manager, is NO LONGER MANAGING THE PHARMACY. The staff is ORGANIZED, PROPERLY STAFFED for the amount of scripts the pharmacy fills, EVERY EMPLOYEE IS GENUINE AND PLEASANT, as well as, HELPFUL and PROFESSIONAL. Messages left for the pharmacy are returned in the PROMPT manner they are supposed to. The pharmacists, and staff are, EMPATHETIC, SOLUTION-ORIENTED, and are truly a breath of fresh air! CVS has updated the check-in process, with automated check-in screens at every pharmacy register, to provide a more EFFECTIVE and EFFICIENT process, beneficial to customers and the staff. I applaud Mr. Oke, who oversees the pharmacy for the region, and the VP of Customer Relations, and her staff. Additionally, the CVS representatives on phone support have consistently been helpful, and have tried to use their resources to correct issues. Again, THIS IS A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT PHARMACY AND STORE EXPERIENCE!. From front of house to the pharmacy, hiring is well done, and THE STAFF IS WONDERFUL . Thank you for making the decision to remove the cancer from within your store! Everyone should know that when they say the pharmacy "closes" at 9pm, it actually closes whenever the people working there decide to close it so that they can be out the door by 9pm. I made a vax appt at this cvs for my boyfriend over a week ago. He came today at his appt time and waited for his shot. The pharmicist then ran his prescription insurance info thru. When asked why we input this info when we made the appt she responded that the appt system doesn't send that info to the pharmacy (which is not true bc I have gotten vax shots there). Then after 10 min of waiting the pharmacist lady told my boyfriend that his insurance doesn't cover vaccines. Which is also not true. He has a union job w great insurance and has had all vax shots covered in the past. When he mentioned that to the pharmacist she said - I guess call your insurance. I mean, shouldn't she be the person calling the insurance? I guess CVS blatantly does not want business? Weird. There is a reason why CVS stores are struggling financially - they have a broken business model where they aren't interested in having payiing customers. Their stock has fallen 60% this year. I wonder if they will ever figure out why or if this store will just close just like the other CVS in the neighborhood did. read more

After getting my heart medications filled with them for two years, they have now told me "Currently we're placing an order for your Rx" every day for the past two weeks, and nothing comes in. When I call, I just get an answering service and no call back. When I go to the store, they say every time they're expecting it tomorrow. My meds, fortunately, are preventive. This CVS Pharmacy had four people working behind the counter the day I came, but apparently this CVS closes the pharmacy from 1:30-2 PM for lunch for the entire pharmacy staff at the same time. Six customers were in line waiting and at 1:30 PM, the employee at the pharmacy counter told them the pharmacy was closing. A customer informed the employee that the customer's daughter just got back from the hospital and was in extreme pain and really needed the meds right now; the employee said the customer had to wait. This was ridiculous. I personally was trying to pick up time-sensitive medication as well. Customers work hard to try to fit in time amid their busy days and use resources to travel to CVS Pharmacy for their needs. There is no reason an entire pharmacy needs to close down at one time when there are multiple employees. Why do they not stagger the lunch shifts? Additionally, the CVS itself is dirty. The carpeted floors are ridden with debris, dirt, and stains. I will be changing my pharmacy and not going to this CVS anymore. read more

The pharmacist at the CVS 2320 Fairmount location today, January 3rd, 2025, is clearly someone who has no problem discriminating against people with mental illness. I couldn't get my needed PTSD medication (my refill was for today,) but he couldn't fill it because he told me they were out of stock and I would have to come back on Monday. I told him I needed the refill because I had to travel tomorrow, and he was quite unconcerned. I kindly asked him to transfer my script to the nearest CVS, which he would not do (he said they were too busy.) He also told me that no one ever picks up the phone at CVS, so a call wouldn't do any good. Additionally, he told me I was one my own. He then stared at me for a moment, then motioned for the next customer in line, who he spent about 15 minutes helping while I desperately searched for another CVS that had my meds. I found a store, they were about to fill it, but then they couldn't because, for some reason, the pharmacist at 2320 Fairmount put a "termination order" on my script. If that's not discrimination against someone with mental illness who just needs his PTSD meds to stay stabilized, then I don't know what is. I plan to take further action because I write for journals and papers. I'm even considering litigation because I am registered ADA and I keep an attorney on retainer. Done. read more

Sent photos to this store, came about a few days later for pick-up (ordered through printmatic). The staff could not find my photos for an entire 20 minutes and while looking did not think to explain to me what was going on at all. I had to ask what the situation is and they had minimal response. Eventually after asking again they said that when photos were ordered no one printed them and they can not resubmit the order. They proceeded to tell me I should resubmit my order and then when I told them I will not be paying for this, and asked how I could pay they stated they were not sure and I should come back to the store with receipt. I walked out keeping in mind to never order photos nor buy anything at this store again. Terrible customer service. read more

I purchased deodorant here. Had to wait for a employee to open the locked cases, that didn't happen so the security guard helped. I get home to find out the deodorant had been used....... disgusting. I don't understand how this could've happened being that it was locked behind glass. This place is a dump! Stay away! read more

The existence of this pharmacy has never once been beneficial to my life. The first time I refilled a prescription here, they felt it necessary to rudely ask: "You realize we're not your regular pharmacy location, right?" No, really? I had no idea. But, please, take a second to review my address. I didn't realize it would be an issue to switch locations within a major national chain. I remembered a prolonged pick-up time for that request, so I put a hiatus on my trips to this spot for several months in hopes that maybe they'd improve in time. Yeah, no. Nope. I knew I had a time-sensitive order to be filled by Sunday, so I put the request in on Friday. Apparently giving two days wasn't nearly enough time (shame on me!) even though my usual pharmacy in Jersey always has it ready within hours. I received a call later in the day on Friday from a team member who said that they needed to order it and that it would arrive on Monday. She said per the medicine, it's okay for me to skip a day. Okay, so not ideal, but not terrible. But then today, I received a call from yet another team member who said that the script was not in and that they'd have to order it (aka, the same exact thing the other person said on Friday), and that it wouldn't come in until tomorrow. I barked that I needed it yesterday and couldn't wait any longer. I told him to get that medication stocked today -- period. He offered to put me on hold while he called other pharmacies. I told him to call me back. He called back and said the one at 19th and Chestnut has it. Super cute since that's not convenient for me at all, but hey, I guess CVS doesn't care about my convenience if they don't care about my health. I've learned my lesson. I'll continue to pay the $5 toll to pick up my scripts in my home state. Two stars for the store portion. Self-checkout is okay. read more

I've been going to this pharmacy for 3 years now and this lack of service at the Pharmacy has been consistent. I went today at 10am, said hello to the cashier, she acted as if she could barely speak. I had my first experience with the pharmacy yesterday. After my interaction with the man behind the counter, I come to find that my experience was not unique. I recently changed my insurance, and with my new policy CVS is pharmacy is one that can fill my prescriptions. Before coming here I stopped at Rite Aid, my previous pharmacy, and I was told that all someone had to do at CVS was call them and they would transfer my referrals. I get to CVS and I tell the man the two medications that I had been prescribed, and without him even knowing my insurance tells me they will not be covered. He proceeded to show me two over the counter medications (one being an alternative to my original prescription). After he had showed me I asked if he could just call Rite Aid to make sure he was correct, and he responded back with "No" all while smirking. This was my first and last time dealing with this pharmacy. I ended up going to Fairmount Pharmacy where they filled BOTH of my prescriptions and were covered by my insurance. This CVS used to be fine, but over the last few months it's really gone downhill. There's trash and fallen items from the shelves all over the floor, boxes blocking aisles, and the floor looks straight up filthy in some areas. Half the products are locked up and require an employee to unlock them. The self-checkout machines malfunction a lot, making them difficult to use, but there is rarely a cashier available. The staff is always polite and helpful but they seem to be understaffed, often with only 1 or 2 people working on the floor at a time. Recently I went there 35 minutes before closing time and they were already closed down. I'm not sure what happened to this CVS but I hope it can be cleaned up someday. read more

I guess I don't understand the angst some people have in their reviews because I use another pharmacy, but I absolutely love this CVS location. It's a great place to run in for random groceries or beauty items, and I can see where I tie up my dog on the fence the entire time I'm inside. It's a sad commentary of our times but this is a store that has given up any pretext of customer service. If it were not part of a major chain, it would have shut down a couple of years ago. The pharmacy is a prime example of the store's dysfunction. I've been using the pharmacy for the past 18 years. What was excellent in past years has devolved in both an uncaring and unprofessional service. There is no sense calling the pharmacy since they no longer answer the phone. After waiting an hour on hold, I finally decided to drive there to question the pharmacist who had given me the only 30 pills in a bottle that stated 90. It was a Sunday morning the store was basically empty although there was a pharmacist and four techs at the counter. Also, the pills looked different from my previous prescriptions. The female pharmacist was defensive and argumentative. Finally, she took back the prescription bottle and gave me another bottle with the full count but with different looking pills. She claimed it was a different manufacturer but who knows if it was. If the pill count was wrong, who knows if the pills themselves were correct. Staff with angry attitudes towards customers, and towards its white customers in particular. Very racist. The neighborhood is expensive to reside in so one wonders why this CVS store is so unpleasant to enter. It should be the opposite since it is serving good people. Why do they dislike white customers who've been going in that location for over 20 years? The store itself is now dirty. I remember when this location first opened, it was clean and the staff was so courteous. It remained nice into the early 2010s. We loved going there. I'd see my neighbors in there and we'd chat and buy more stuff. It is the opposite now. It gets progressively worse in there and took a nosedive during the riots of 2020. Our neighbors feel the same way I do which is why the store isn't busy like it once was. Personally, I still order online in the app and pick up at register to avoid being in there more than a moment. Even that interaction with staff to get what I paid for at the register is too much. They don't even say thank you. They are good with dirty looks, though. Maybe they're homophobic too. They'll be going out of business soon. They did this to themselves. Sucks to see CVS go. Same with the one that used to be on Pennsylvania Avenue, down the street, where there are multi-million-dollar condos across the street from what became another nasty CVS. That CVS closed down because nice people didn't want to go in there anymore. The riots of 2020 did that location in. It never recovered just like so many other businesses. read more

Do not use this pharmacy for specialty prescriptions. On more than one occasion, I have had a specialty medication shipped to this branch (2320 Fairmount Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19130) for pick-up. And on more than one occasion, despite having a UPS tracking number and delivery confirmation, employees have assured me that I am incorrect and that my medication is nowhere to be found in the store. In the most recent case, my medicine had been delivered the previous Friday morning and I was told the following Tuesday morning that the medicine had not been delivered. I called the CVS Specialty national customer service line and received great service from the rep who answered; she called this branch to investigate. Guess what -- they immediately found the medication at this store. So, either I was lied to or, as a customer, I was not a high enough priority for them to actually look for my medicine. When I picked up my medication - I did not receive an apology or explanation; they could not have cared less. Again, this has happened more than once and I expect it will happen again - you don't get the sense that customer service or continuous improvement matters much to the pharmacy staff...to put it lightly. I will no longer be a customer of this branch. If you actually need your specialty medication, get it shipped to your home or find another CVS branch. read more

Two days ago I went to pick up my prescription and realized the pharmacist had written "Happy birthday!!" on my medicine envelope. CVS at 18th and Chestnut may be open 24 hours but they should take notes. Added a star to my updated review not only for the attention to detail and my being a general sucker for flattery, but also because this location recently expanded its merchandise selection and added self-checkout lanes with a store revamp. read more

This review's only for the pharmacy and my experience with picking up medicine every month. The second star is only there for the hours. The pharmacy is open until 9:30 p.m., which is very accommodating. Other than that, I'd say 9 times out of 10 when I come here, the pharmacists are snobby, rude, and unwilling to help with any questions or concerns I might have. I don't expect chipper moods from everyone (especially if you're stuck inside on a beautiful night filling prescription bottles) but blatantly acting like my request is impeding on your precious time is not the way to treat a paying customer. Just because you graduated from Penn's pharmaceutical program doesn't make you any better of a person. Get off your high horse. read more

I've been going to this CVS for 2 or 3 years now. It's another CVS, right? Not so fast. They have recently reorganized this store and it's a bit of an improvement. At first, I didn't like the new layout: the aisles are much tighter, I didn't know where to find things I was looking for, blah blah blah. The improvements include a "grocery" section has a wider selection. They also do a better job of not having the miscellaneous crap (like pool floats, cake pans, and other things that I will never buy) partitioning the two useful sides of the store (drug store side and general sundries side). And they added Self-Checkout lanes, but I prefer trained professionals using scanners: I'd really hate for my head to explode. Oh, the parking lot is generally a Mike Charlie Foxtrot. read more

The CVS at - Address: 2320 Fairmount Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19130 - I went in there this evening, Monday 03/05/2018 at approximately 7PM. The entire refrigerated food section, freezer food section AND the non-perishable dry goods sections (chips, pastas, canned goods, coffee, tea, snacks, condiments, cereals, soda etc.) had 'DO NOT ENTER' tape blocking every aisle. The clerks were very diligent NOT to allow anyone near that area. When customers asked the clerks what was going on, they claimed not to know. They said they were ordered to dispose of all the food IMMEDIATELY. All available clerks were sitting in the aisles, tossing all the store's food goods (perishable and non-perishable consumable items) into large trash bags. They were disposing of it ALL. The pharmacy staff was very unprofessional. I came in with a script from my oral surgeon and instead of explaining/educating me as to why my script looked suspicious (two different color inks were used apparently) they simply straight up lied and said they don't carry Vicodin. They sent me to the next pharmacy down the street. I get it. Addicts try to pull tricks all the time for pain pills. But for those of us who aren't, take literally 30 seconds to explain to me why you are refusing my script so I can inform my doctor. read more

I can't remember ever having a small-town pharmacy feeling at a big-chain store until this one. I'm sure many people younger than me don't even know what it's like to have a pharmacist who knows your name. That's how the pharmacists at the Fairmount CVS are. They're always friendly and helpful even when you can see their backlog of orders to fill is daunting. As someone else said, there is often a wait at the pharm checkout, so try to go at less busy times of the day if you can. There's also a nice coffee/sandwich shop across the street if you need to wait for your script to get filled. The rest of the store is pretty good as well. I love that they have self-checkout and they're pretty good about keeping them all in working order. read more

Used to be good but has gone downhill fast. I first started using this CVS two years ago when I moved to the neighborhood. The pharmacists were excellent, the staff helpful. It was a well oiled machine. But something changed about a year ago. They kept getting orders confused. They would send texts and voicemails saying my orders had been filled but when I would get there they hadn't. I often have to wait 15 minutes to an hour for an order even when the call says it is ready. The pharmacy staff has gotten to be so slow, they no longer make eye contact, many speak in a mumble. It used to be attentive good customer service but no longer so. They also are very inconsistent in restocking. For three weeks I tried to get dixie cups and they were would. When I asked a clerk they said the tag probably fell off the shelf so nobody remembered to order them. Huh? That is how you do inventory? You just forget about an item if it is sold out and don't see it on the shelf? The Rite Aid on Callowhill is now more convenient and I am considering switching to that pharmacy instead. read more
