I adopted my little nugget (Scout) when he was a little over 10 weeks old and he's now 3 1/2 years old. I've had no health issues with him other than kennel cough (twice) when he was a baby. I was told he would be a "small" but he's a healthy 26lb boy (with a little length to him). I WOULD NOT trade him in for the world. Seriously, he's the sweetest little dog with a bit of sassy personality. I can take him everywhere: the store, restaurants, the beach - and he's so good. He does get a little case of the zoomies but it's cute and he's happy. I lived in Boston when I adopted him. Windy and Autorio were great. The courier was amazing. My family have several of these dogs and every one of them has horrible allergies that cause them to scratch till they bleed even with allergy medicine, one had to have their eye removed due to a genetic issue where their eyelashes grew on the inside of her eyelid, another has has perpetual ear infections that the vets cannot fix and given how expensive the dogs are the upfront cost is nothing compared to the very bills you will have which are probably two or three times the price. read more

I loved my royal frenchel, but after $40,000 of vet bills and only 4 years, he died of health complications. I would highly recommend to never buy from this breeder. I got 2 royal frenchels. I received one dog with a crack in his skull, a heart murmur, and giardia that they did not tell us about. I then contacted the breeder and was met with a harsh and belittling attitude, and found out she was aware of all of these issues. My other pup had to undergo chemotherapy and medicinal treatments for seizures and brain swelling. It astonishes me that they advertise less medical problems within this breed. I had never imagined dogs could be this expensive or stress inducing. The price and the loss/ grief this breeder has caused me is unforgivable and disturbing. read more

Love our dogs but nothing but health problems. Very prone to allergies. Had testing done and serum therapy and it's the gift that just keeps coming. Ectopic eyes are a significant issue. After 3 surgeries we finally opted for removal of the problem eye. In our very visits, we're hearing more and more problems with them from staff from both of our vets. Staff is friendly, dogs are cute and loveable but they really did get all the worst health traits from their original breeds. It's hard to watch. If you go this route, keep your insurance, but opt for the whole package and be ready for lots of money in treatments. read more

Not your average dog by any means!! These dogs are just extraordinary. I didn't really give much credence to how distinct a breed could be until I met these guys. I couldn't love mine more and I have friends and others that I have met that have also been extremely pleased with both the personality and health of this breed. My Ren is just perfect, health, intelligent, communicative, playful and generous. She has been a breeze to train and I always get comments on how beautiful and well behaved she is. And it's true. Her coat is the softest and she is healthy and robust. And I love her small size too. It makes everything so much easier with her. I reference their Royal Frenchel website and youtube station all the time because they are so informative. Anahata (Windy) and her team are so loving, knowledgeable and helpful through the whole process and it is very clear that the puppies are healthy and loved. I visited with several pups and found them all to be so distinct and affectionate. It was hard to chose but Anahata was so helpful and really got to know me well and help me decide what personality I would enjoy most and she knocked it out of the park. I am nuts about Ren and could not be happier. I really never realized how close I could be to a dog and I will always be eternally grateful for Anahata and her impeccible team at Royal Frenchel. I've had my royal frenchel for 5 years now and Have never had a more troublesome health-wise dog. Thousands spent on vet bills! So many physical problems, horrible skin conditions, allergies to numerous to name, was charged a premium because she was year old and house trained and trained supposedly, NOT! It looked to me like she was bred before they sold her to me for a ridiculously high price. Has been an extremely anxious dog from day one and is only now starting to settle down as she has gotten older. Would never recommend this breeder, look around before you get a dog from these people! I got my 8 week old Royal Frenchel and have had nothing but medical issues since day 1. I have spent endless visits at the vet and thousands of dollars. She has chronic gastrointestinal issues, hip dysplasia, and came to me with giardia and two other parasites. Unless medicated and on prescription food, she vomits, has diarrhea, and is completely lethargic. Even on treatment, she bleeds constantly. Is she the most loving dog imaginable? Yes. The dogs are cute and sweet but this is definitely a sketchy backyard breeder. They won't show you where they keep the dogs. They do not take very good care of the dogs they breed. They overbreed them and get rid of them when they're no longer able to breed. They don't keep their shots up to date and or other basic things like getting their anal sacks expressed. We now have 2 Royal Frenchels in our family and could not be happier! I first heard of this breed from a person I met on vacation. I went to visit the breeder and spent a great amount of quality time with Windy and Arturo. They told me about the breed and as I met each pup they talked about the personality and disposition of each. It was such a fantastic experience and I really didn't feel any pressure. I went home with our first boy pup and he's been fantastic. He is a true part of the family. After our other older dog passed, I went back to get another royal. We now have a boy and girl. I could not be happier that I did not stay true to this statement as I can't not image a better puppy companion than my Sir Bruce the Bark Knight. At 12-weeks of age, he is a healthy and happy pup.
