I especially love the Esperance location for its gorgeous views and the option to sit outside by a bonfire. The stunning views are matched by the fun, Nordic-inspired interiors. The decor, seating, and bar all add to the atmosphere, and even the bartenders fit right in! Service is great--they're so sweet and knowledgeable about the meads as well. As for the mead, it's absolutely delicious. I recommend trying a flight to sample the different flavors before picking your favorite for a full glass. I loved them all, but my top pick has to be Loki's Lure--a rich blend of coffee and cacao. Other favorites are the Heritage and Black Currant. The one thing I do wish the meadery offered is snacks. It would be nice to have something to munch on while enjoying the drinks. Beware of the mead though--it's so tasty and goes down so easily, you might find yourself tipsy before you know it!

Besides the liquors, they also have some local beers and wines available as well as some cocktails (see more below). I was able to sample many of the liquors. Of their whiskeys, their rye was my favorite. Their gin is a bit milder and possibly a gin for people who aren't huge fans of gin. Their Black Rock Maple bourbon-infused maple syrup is amazing. You only need a little bit when pouring it; it's quite sweet, and it's also 10% ABV!!! The ambiance is a big plus, with a very friendly and chatty staff. We were welcomed and felt at home instantly. Of course, our first greeting was by a very excited dachshund puppy who seemed to need to check out every possible smell on my shoes. You can order cocktails featuring their liquors as well, and they make their own syrups and sour mixes. They also feature Martini Mondays, with a variety of martinis available all evening for $7 each. That's a fun reason to come back even if you don't need to purchase bottles of liquor on any particular day.

They are a great add to downtown Valatie. The inside is rustic and welcome. I enjoyed the Bavarian decor and conversation with the owners on their heritage. There were a dozen beers on tap. I would have liked my vanilla porter to be slightly more robust, but the taste was pleasant. Small amounts of snacks are on every table, as well as their WiFi information. You definitely need the WiFi there, because certain cell phone providers have zero coverage there. Community involvement here is high, they offer a number of events and participate in other local ones. Street parking is convenient. I saw customers getting pizzas delivered, so I assume you are welcome to support other local businesses by requesting their food delivered here. As I recall, I think their website even advertises them. They clearly provide enjoyment here all-around.

Walk around and behind the store and then up the dirt road leading between greenhouses. The cidery is on the right. The front part has a few tall tables and the bar. Go through the doorway to the left of the bar and it opens up to a huge space with picnic tables. Beyond that is a huge fire pit and Adirondack chairs. It's a really cute spot.

I decided to check out Troy Beverage Center, and fell in love. They have a very wide variety of different beers. I've gone back multiple times to try different ones, and I plan on keep going back! The only problem with this place is the lack of organization, making it very tough to find things if you have something particular in mind, and it's also very dusty, which makes me wonder how often they rotate beers out. Other than that, this is a great spot to pick up some specialty stouts, IPAs, or whatever you might be looking for if you're in the Troy area!
