So that forces patrons to choose the "run a tab" option even if just dropping in for one beer. Problem 2: This policy feels needlessly suspicious and hostile, as if USB doesn't trust their (almost exclusively well-heeled) clientele to pay. And this isn't some busy NYC bar where people occasionally walk on tabs. And bowhere else I've been in Hudson does this. If Governor's or Padrona tried it, regulars would look at the server like an extraterrestrial. Management might want to take a chill pill and try trusting their patrons more; Hudson is still a small town. Take the order, do a good job, give us a bill when we're ready... Each table has games so if you just want to enjoy a beer and play games you can. I played the BeerIQ game and I learned a few things about beer and now I want to buy the game for home. Beer: I had a sample of brown ale and the imperial stout. Both were incredible. It is hard to get a good brown ale and Eric nailed it! I ordered a brown ale since I was driving and the alcohol content was lower. I tasted the Imperial stout and wow delicious. One of the regulars was raving about the imperial stout and he was so right! Some days they offer food, but we came on Saturday where the kitchen was closed. They are a great add to downtown Valatie. The inside is rustic and welcome. I enjoyed the Bavarian decor and conversation with the owners on their heritage. There were a dozen beers on tap. I would have liked my vanilla porter to be slightly more robust, but the taste was pleasant. Small amounts of snacks are on every table, as well as their WiFi information. You definitely need the WiFi there, because certain cell phone providers have zero coverage there. Community involvement here is high, they offer a number of events and participate in other local ones. Street parking is convenient. I saw customers getting pizzas delivered, so I assume you are welcome to support other local businesses by requesting their food delivered here. As I recall, I think their website even advertises them. They clearly provide enjoyment here all-around.

Upon speaking with Kari, I learned they opened in 2020 and it used to be an old schoolhouse! They had a craft night for a Valentine's Day craft, they have games, pariticpate in the jigsaw puzzle competition amongst a few local breweries, and had an ongoing "guess the amount" competition to guess how many candy hearts were in a container, and they have live music. They don't serve food but do have pop-ups with local places. I wish I could have checked out the outdoor space but weather didn't allow it. Definitely a place I'd come back to, especially in spring/summer. Sidenote: If you're looking for a local place to stay the night, the upstairs loft is a beautiful Air BnB!

The outdoor yard area is also spacious. Convenient parking that you can see the horses near the stable from. It's just a quick drive and easy to locate from Albany. I would highly recommend without hesitation.
