This is owned and operated by a farm-to-table-loving husband and wife team; they are both extremely affable and deeply informative on the surrounding areas and history of the Catskills. Learned some incredible facts: ask about the ford dealership that struck a deal with Henry Ford himself! There is some time in the van between tastings, as expected, but the views are gorgeous and the company was great. They have multiple tour options so we'd definitely do this again when we visit. Business was slow so the woman serving drinks offered us a free tasting of their four main liquors: vodka, gin, maple spirit, and rye whiskey. She was incredibly knowledgeable and was able to give us detailed descriptions of each one. I'm no liquor expert but the gin and maple spirit were both delicious. We bought a bottle of each and can't wait to tuck into them later. We stayed for a few cocktails as well and really enjoyed their pleasant tasting room. If liquor isn't your thing, they also offer a few local wines and beers. Highly recommend checking this place out when you're in the area!

The tasting was like a show in itself; between Brian and him, we really got to know their Bootlegger line of vodka, gins, and bourbons. While all of them tasted great, my personal highlights were the vodka and the bourbon cream. Theirs was the smoothest vodka I ever tried that I almost bought a bottle right then and there (waited until after the tasting, of course). The bourbon cream was like a dessert -- sweet, not too heavy, and, for someone who prefers vodka to bourbon, it made me appreciate bourbon more. Following suit with those who recommended it to me, I also recommend it if you're in/near Roscoe, especially if you want to support the local businesses.

I especially love the Esperance location for its gorgeous views and the option to sit outside by a bonfire. The stunning views are matched by the fun, Nordic-inspired interiors. The decor, seating, and bar all add to the atmosphere, and even the bartenders fit right in! Service is great--they're so sweet and knowledgeable about the meads as well. As for the mead, it's absolutely delicious. I recommend trying a flight to sample the different flavors before picking your favorite for a full glass. I loved them all, but my top pick has to be Loki's Lure--a rich blend of coffee and cacao. Other favorites are the Heritage and Black Currant. The one thing I do wish the meadery offered is snacks. It would be nice to have something to munch on while enjoying the drinks. Beware of the mead though--it's so tasty and goes down so easily, you might find yourself tipsy before you know it!
