I understand having a limited drink menu, but each time my friend asked for a recommendation she was responded to as if she had just spit in that woman's face. The final straw was when my friend said, "I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with most of these drinks. What do you have that is sweet?" asking for a recommendation. The bartender looked at her and said "sugar" then rolled her eyes so hard I'm surprised they didn't get stuck in the back of her head. I understand being over your job, but my friend did nothing wrong. Was not rude, and in return got spoken to like a child. I don't know what the chip on this person's shoulder was, but if you absolutely HAVE to to be vile to everyone you speak to, try a back of the house position because you are actively damaging your bar's reputation.

It's really a great space for having a private party. And on top of that, while it can fill up quickly, there's free street parking outside. They offered recommendations for food and drinks and overall the food was great. Lemon drops were not on the main menu, but they said they can make almost anything if they have the ingredients. The most beautiful male wait staff member changed clothes every time he returned to the floor, he gave us a show of his own honey!!! I get hot super easily so I was happy to experience a cool space inside. The AC was cranked up, so if you get cold easily, bring a cardigan. Entertainment was superb, got to interact with the performer and even met with him after the show was over. If I had to list any cons about my experience, it was the staff constantly going back and forth as I was recording the performance on the stage. I had to cut so many of my videos because someone walked directly across the shot. I know they have a job to do, and they do it WELL! I'll definitely return for another gallery visit (the exhibits/shows change all the time)! But Eubie Blake is more than a gallery, even during COVID times! It offers live music (Eubie Live!), classes, and events. It's not very clear to me what they're doing right now during COVID, and their website isn't great at providing information about their hours or how to visit (I wasn't sure, for example, if you needed to have a pre-selected time to visit the galleries during COVID or not - the answer is no). If you happen by and they're open, stop in! There's some really great art in those galleries! I hope to return for some jazz sometime soon!

(FYI in case you don't know: Peabody is JHU's music conservatory/school.) I attended my first concert at the Peabody Institute last weekend when we had some visitors in town. The concert we attended was a performance of the Peabody Symphony Orchestra. It was free, in the beautiful Miriam A Friedberg Concert Hall, and wonderful overall. It's a gorgeous venue and location for a classical music concert, and the Peabody musicians are so talented. The concert was wonderful. I'm planning on attending concerts in the future! What a wonderful place to hear classical music in the city! I got invited by a friend to come see her daughter in the Black Nativity. I was super excited and…read moreinvited other friends to join me. This play was good community theater. The songs got me right into the Christmas spirit and gave me that old time black church gospel vibe. The first half was dedicated to the nativity that we're all familiar with. The Arena Players had their own special twist on the story, but the end result was the same" unto us a child is born. Jesus Christ, Savior of the world. The 2nd half takes you to church with testimonies followed by some good ole gospel music. They had you singing along, clapping your hands, and tapping your feet. They took us to church. The only reason they're not getting 5 stars is because the audio was none existent. No one was one had a mic on, and had I not been sitting in the front row it would have been extremely hard to hear them. It's a real shame because their voices were beautiful. My friends who have seen other production agreed with me, but said the plays they've seen there that they did have mics on. Perhaps they had some technical difficulties. I hope they fix that before their next production in January. They also have a Youth Theater program for ages 4.5 to 18.
