Booking an appointment with MK was very easy. I texted her but you can also call the shop to schedule an appointment. Whenever I have questions about our sessions and what products she's using in my hair, she's always there to answer and help. I haven't cut or colored my hair in about two years. I was trying so hard to grow it out and have virgin hair again. When we first got started she measured my hair with her comb. She asked me how many inches I wanted to chop off but I wasn't sure so she gave me a visual with her comb. I think I chopped off 10in. I can't remember lol. Throughout the whole process she was telling me what she was doing to my hair. She was really informative through the entire session. She advised me to buy Fanola No Yellow purple shampoo to tone out my hair once a week. She also recommended buying Olaplex #3 to deep condition my hair once week. Mk also recommended buying hair oil/serum and heat protectant. Not many girls do their homework from their stylist in between sessions but I want to keep my hair looking healthy and fresh so of course I'll follow what Mk tells me to buy/do. If I could give this place more than 5 stars, I gladly would. I have not had experience with other stylist in this salon but I'm sure they are good since I have witnessed their work sitting from a chair. I've had my hair cut styled and colored by Chelsea. I am absolutely pleased with everything she's done to my hair. I was so happy the moment she told me she could do my hair on such a short notice. I was always told by every stylist that if would be hard to bring my hair to a ashy blonde color because my hair is at a warm tone and blah blah blah. I get it, I don't understand much about hair but for once, Chelsea was able to bring it to the blonde I have always been wanting. Although it took a while, I almost felt bad that I made Chelsea work so hard and long... It was absolutely worth it. She also cut and styled my hair, not to mention, she does one of the best shampooing ever! Also, she waxed my eyebrows, and my lip area. She did an awesome job. My eyebrows are on fleek and shaped very nicely. I look like a whole new person! I'll definitely be going to Chelsea to do my hair from now on. I'm completely satisfied with my hair! And if you're looking to see if the other stylist are any good?! Yes! The owner seems to be such a friendly and Caring lady. I absolutely recommend Royal salon, as long as Chelsea still works there! Terrible job...I showed the girl who did my hair a picture if what I wanted and she pretty much just bleached my hair and left it the different shades it turned out! One I asked for ombré and she gave shitty orange color... I paid like $40 dollars for just a trim on top of paying for the shitty hair color she did. I'm so pissed!!! This is kind of a late review but I came here to cut my hair sometime the end of March. I've been following Kimmie on Instagram and was interested in having her cutting my hair since she always did a good job on her previous clients. I'm really picky when it comes to having people cut my hair due to horrible past experiences elsewhere. -- Anyways, I got there around 12 but Kimmie previously has told me that she'll be working on hair&makeup for prom. Although I waited a couple hours, I really didn't mind at all because it was really a homey feeling salon. The workers as well as customers engaged in the same conversations and it made the time go by quickly. As for the haircut, Kimmie did a great job. She not only did she deliver exactly what I wanted, but she educated me on how to maintain my hair & a bunch of other stuffs. I'm glad I didn't end up going to the salon I was originally gonna go to because Kimmie did a great job. Will be coming here again. read more

This place does an excellent job. First time customer and very pleased. I started out with redish hair and wanted my hair highlighter to look blonde and was skeptical because i have never been there and wasnt sure if they could pull it off. I told and showed jhere the stylist what i wanted and she made it happen. She is very honest about what it might look like and told me step by step what was happening as she did my highlights. They had to blend it to get less red and now i cant see the red much anymore. A lot of stylists are rough but she wasnt nearly as harsh on my head as ive had before at other places. I've known about The Royal Salon forever since the owner Nila and my mom & aunt are all friends. I haven't gone to Royal Salon because I think, once you find the perfect hair stylist for you - you kinda stick to them and you follow them to whatever salon they move to, just to make sure that you have the perfect service everytime. Well this time, my mom said that she would pay for my hair color & cut since she was getting her hair done there too. I've never been serviced by Nila but I have by Jhere. Believe it or not, Jhere was the first person to color my hair professionally when I was in high school more than 25 years ago. She has done my hair before, so my mom suggested that she do my hair. Jhere has always been a very vibrant person and she hasn't failed me. I went darker this time so that my hair can look healthier. She also suggested that I cut my hair. I am trying to grow my hair out, therefore I'm usually against it. I told her to go ahead and cut it. She took off 2 to 3 inches and I'm glad she did. It looks so much healthier and she did my fringe layered cut......I am in love with her again, lol. Ooh la la....I love when she shampooed, rince and massaged my scalp! I am going to come back for a deep conditioning massage from Jhere. She was way much more cheaper than my regular hair stylist. I only paid $100 for my color/cut/blowdry and straight iron which would normally be $150 with my other hair stylist. Let's just say I'm a very satisfied customer and I will be back! read more

I was very disappointed. I made an appointment at 4:30, and arrived here at 4:15. Being that it was not appointment time yet, I was okay with the little wait. There were a couple others sitting in the waiting area with me. When 4:30 came around, she took someone else that was in the waiting area, who DID NOT have an appointment. On top of that, the lady who was supposed to cut my hair, looked directly at me and said, "oh, she was a walk in". I'm sorry, I guess the priority goes to the walk-in, right? And making an appointment means absolutely nothing. I get it, you were slow and told your walk-in that you had time, but if you know that your 4:30 APPOINTMENT is here, and someone else is free to cut, why not send the walk-in to that person? My advice, don't waste your time making an appointment here. And another thing, I now need to find someone who can fix my hair that I asked her to LAYER. read more

Called yesterday to schedule an appointment for peekaboo highlights and haircut. Lady said come in at 2:00 pm. I come in 1:50 pm and no one had any idea who was styling my hair. One stylist says she thinks I'm her client but was working on another client. I sit waiting patiently and for 1/2 hour I got no acknowledgment from the stylist not even an apology saying she's running behind schedule..I got no acknowledgment from her as she's washing her previous clients hair so I walked out and left. Please to say my money was spent elsewhere with better customer service and got exactly what I wanted. I definitely won't be going to Royal Salon again or even refer anyone there. read more

I just got my hair done on Sunday with Winnie and I'm so happy I ended up going with her. I had been researching stylists for a while, trying to find the right person to do my hair prior to my wedding and I got a referral from a coworker of mines. I checked out her Instagram and loved what I saw. The process of setting up an appointment with her is easy and fast. She does email and text, but I'm assuming texting is always faster. My appointment time was scheduled for 10:45am, but since she was running ahead of schedule she texted me asking if I could come in earlier. I was happy about that. Before she gets started she goes over the pricing, which is awesome. Sometimes you go to stylists and find out how much they really charged AFTER the fact. Having a price list and then your final charge are not always the same! So I'm glad Winnie takes care of that beforehand. Anyway, the process went smoothly and she's so nice! She informs you about how long certain things will take. For example, I had full highlights done so when it was time for my hair to be heated she let me know it would be around 15 minutes. I also got toner and a haircut added to the full highlights. Another thing I liked was that Winnie had the courtesy to let me know that the color I'm aiming for will be reached in time for my wedding (When the toner fades and my hair gets lighter), which was nice to know since I don't know much about hair. Last experience LaiLa- or whatever her name. Did my highlights way too light. She didn't even use a toner (found this out with my new hairdresser). Was rushed because she had to deal with other prom hairdos at the moment. Just a lack of quality service. However- I'd give 5 stars to Chelsea, she highlighted my hair once when Laila- whatever her name is didn't have time too. She's younger than the other stylist and much more patient. It's sad because I've been coming here for the past 2 years and also referred my cousin here but now I go see Sammy at super cuts in Salt Lake. Don't bother wasting your gas driving all the way from town to this location and being charged an arm and a leg- literally!! Been coming to this salon since I moved to Kunia back in 2006. Jhere has always been my stylist and she does a great job and is always consistent. She is very knowledgeable at what she does. She is honest about if she could achieve the color you want in one sitting or if she needs to gradually work her way to the desired color. She will tell you the pros and cons of the color or hair cut and I respect that. Once, I strayed away when I moved to pearl city and ended up going to another salon close by for convenience and they did a horrible job so Jhere had to rescue and fix my hair! She colored my hair today and I wish I did highlights, but I was pressed for time nonetheless I love it and it looks great! She even cut my daughters hair, just the bangs. Long overdue review, but NILA at Royal Salon is a gem. I had a DIY hair disaster which left my hair bluish green...ahhhh! It's was around 6pm, when I walked in Royal Salon. There stood my hair angel lol. In 2 hours she was able to do a color correction, highlight and toning AND give my daughter a quick trim. I will never have a DIY disaster again because Nila won me over and will continue to go to her until my pocket says otherwise lol. Thanks for my beautiful hair Nila:) read more

I went thier recently, looking for a last minute stop to get my hair did and looked on yelp for help. I came across Royal salon and wanted to give them a try because of the great reviews. I went in and was aknowledged immediantly, I did't wait long and i had Zen to help me and my daughter.Looking around it looked okay for a corner shop salon, the sinks to wash your hair in was very dirty, still had loose hair around the sink area. Hair color smears around the wall and sinks and there was one the towels to dry you hair on the floor, i guess to wipe up a spill they had, instead of a mop...ewww... I went in about 11:45am and wanted a trim, flat iron. My daughter had highlights and flat iron as well. Zen was a delight and took the time to do our hair which i really liked. My daughter was really happy with her hair style even though she did not have a haircut ( which i wish she would) We got done with everything at about 3:30pm. Which was really long for that kind of hair cut. We went to pay and we were rushing out and already was late for a function, and our bill was a whopping $230 dollars!!!!! now given both me and my daughter had long hair , Highlights was a given but are you serious???? I should went to another salon to get a hair cut and a pedi while im at it. My daughters highlights was first the wrong color and she did not want to complain, because we were therer for 31/2 hours, and tried to tell my daughter that it looked better lighter...... I am sorry but me i really don't like to complain but i have told quite a few of my friends what i had to pay and all were outrageous....My hairdresser was a doll and would recommend her if you had the time and want a quality haircut, but the price I mean really.....That is like a 1/2 a star to me. Do not go here! We decided to attempt somewhere different that showed promise through some Yelp reviews however I got to say that the other negative reviews about sum it up. The appointment was set for 1pm for a simple straightening that turned into a nightmare. First off the stylist was unprepared and appeared to be eager to take us. Then about 2-3 other people came in and my process was interrupted several times she even forgot about me on the sink where she washed my hair. Stylist Nila seemed determined to get more sales than give proper service. Other stylists seemed to be family members. Other people came in and left after waiting for an hour or longer without any service. The process of simple straightening ended 4hours later with hair dried and dead since my stylist seemed preoccupied and multi tasking and only seemed to care of the sales not quality of cut. We will definitely know better than to go back to a 1/2 rate place like this ever again. This service ruined my hair, and to see any positive reviews are misleading. My friend recommended me to go to this salon. I haven't cut my hair in a year and a half because I liked my long length and well... the lady who cut my hair the last time totally ruined it. Anyways, my friend told me to go to this salon. I called to ask about their salon hours and asked if I could make an appointment. They were pretty slow yesterday afternoon so they were able to fit me in. I went to Jhere and she is a goddess. I told her I wanted to keep my long hair and I wanted layers. She was on it! My hair turned out amazing! No regrets at all. The atmosphere was cool. They made you feel like family and they're so down to earth and funny.
