Responding to Chelsa K.'s 1* review. As I am someone who was in the restaurant when it happened…read more I just think it's funny how you aren't mentioning y'all came in as 6 people and then wanted accommodations for 30 people during one of the busiest times of the night. Or that they argued with the amazing manager for nearly an hour total after being told they couldn't accommodate that size party. They're also leaving out the part where people from their group marched in and seated themselves, stood over occupied tables waiting for guests to leave, insisting the hosts clean the tables, and made the entire restaurant uncomfortable. This had nothing to do with race and everything to do with behavior. Any group acting like that would've gotten the exact same response. In short, do better. Y'all came in and ruined everyone's dinner because y'all don't know how to plan ahead. Stop blaming people for your mistakes and take accountability.

This restaurant is known for their crawfish unfortunately I visited for a weekday lunch and they…read morewere posting a sign on the doors after I had walked in stating they don't serve crawfish until 4pm weekdays, 3pm on weekends. This may have been part of the reason its wasn't all that busy on a Tuesday lunch. Similar to some other restaurants in Louisiana I've visited, they have a side with a bar, to-go area and high tops, and a more family oriented side of the restaurant with a bunch of low top tables. Fried pork rinds are served with every table. They have daily plate lunches and the one day I came it was chicken fried steak. However, it's not usually a good idea to order CFS outside of Texas in my experience. Therefore, I ended up ordering the catfish and shrimp platter, served grilled instead and added a $5 strawberry margarita. The entree comes with a side salad but they only have seelct dressings and none which I would typically order, so i just settled on honey mustard. Margarita- for only $5 it's not bad and comes with either sugar or salt rim Catfish and shrimp platter - seasoned with a blackened seasoning but it wasn't spicy. The catfish filet was small and tasted like it was previously frozen. The shrimp were also small and didn't taste much better. Not sure I'd return if ever in Lafayette, as I was really looking for a more festive environment and more grilled options.

The Cajun Table - 8 EMPTY TABLES. All clean. All ready to go. But somehow they were all off limits to me.

Food is AMAZING of course, but I was a little disappointed in the fact that the doors to the patio…read morewere closed, and I always look forward to sitting on the beautiful patio. I asked if they'd be able to open them and the reason given was they closed them due to customers complaining about the heat. It was around 7:30, the sun was setting, I then let my waitress know that I was cold and I sat on the patio to not be cold. She said she'd ask but they most likely would not do it. This problem is not that deep but I am anemic & I don't think its fair to us who sit outside for the sun and warmth to have to be cold due to the people who can just sit inside if they're too hot‍

He recommended several local brews and food options, and somehow we ended up having one of those conversations that makes you feel like you've known someone longer than five minutes. We talked about traveling, different beers, Louisiana, Ohio, Atlanta, and everything in between. My favorite part of the conversation had to be hearing about the brewery owned by three Japanese women who live in Brazil. That's a story I definitely wasn't expecting when I sat down for a drink! As for the food, it was incredible. I had the seafood gumbo, which came loaded with a crab cluster and crawfish tails, and I also tried the blackened alligator. Both were amazing and full of flavor. The atmosphere was great, the beer selection was excellent, and the service made the whole experience even better. I genuinely can't wait to go back to The Chime! If you're in the area, definitely give this place a try. 6/5 from me!

Bottom shelf wine at a California price. $12 per glass of Bonanza cabernet (for wine that costs $9 for a full bottle.) AND $6.25 for domestic beer during Happy Hour. My two sons, three others and I walked in to see a sign that said "Please seat Yourselves"... as we did. About 5 - 10 minutes later, we double checked the sign because honestly, it felt almost deliberate how we were ignored. After not being acknowledged AT ALL by the waitress who checked on the three tables next to us MANY times, or by anyone else working there who clearly saw us, I went up to the bar after another 10 minutes to ask if we did right to seat ourselves. The worker behind the bar said that "she" would be with us shortly as she was only one on floor. SHE (waitress) continued tending to nearby tables without even so much as a "I will be right with you." We waited several more minutes before she came by again with her back to us, tending to another table, as one of the girls softly got her attention. She basically shrugged at her saying something quick which we didn't hear clearly but something about being a minute. Then she did not acknowledge anyone else and turned her back again...THEN...we left.
