We stopped in for lunch in a Saturday afternoon. We did not have a reservation and were sat quickly. The resturant was noce ans clean. Our waiter was extremely nice and brought a round of waters while we looked through both the drink and food menu. There are tvs around the area we sat with a few sports games playing. The food came out hot. The crab cakes came out with the sauce on the side. I would have liked the crab meat to be more visible in the crab cake.

We visited Fezzo's on a recommendation from a local. Honestly, I don't care much for this type of cuisine. However, Lafayette is located in the heart of French Louisiana (the Acadiana Region) and is known for Cajun and Creole cuisine. I keep trying different restaurants to keep an open mind, although I feel like my opinion will remain unchanged. We ordered the Fezzo's Oyster Sampler to taste all the flavors. The classic charbroiled oysters and Rockefeller oysters were chef's kiss. However, the Monterey Jack's flavors didn't mesh well and neither of us cared for it. This was supposed to be an appetizer but it arrived at the same time as the entrees. We also ordered Fezzo's Cajun Trio and chose the chicken gumbo, shrimp & corn bisque and red beans & sausage. The chicken gumbo had a "burnt" flavor to it. Lil Dizzy's Cafe in NOLA does gumbo better. The shrimp & corn bisque was tasty but the red beans & sausage and pistolette was bomb! The fish tacos were overly salty. That's the only thing I could focus on since the first bite. Not one to waste, especially in this economy, we forced ourselves to eat them. I liked the crispiness of the taco itself but the salty flavor of the fried fish was just too overpowering. Surprisingly, the onion rings were also disappointing. They were soggy AND cold, like the dish was waiting for a while before being served. The onion rings at Burger Inn in Oakdale (served hot and fresh!) was superb compared to Fezzo's version. The chicken tenders and fries were standard.

First time here on the way back to Colorado Fezzo's was recommended by the Homewood Suites front desk. Don't be dissuaded by the full parking lot - the place is huge! Cajun Crawfish dip was excellent - very flavorful with excellent warmed pita bread. My husband had the grilled snapper with crawfish étouffée. I had the Fezzo Ultimate Potato with crawfish étouffée over it. The food was excellent. Service was good. But we didn't have time to enjoy the appetizer before the side salads came and then a minute after that the entrées! So very efficient and fast food bit no time to enjoy. This is a server education issue (we had restaurants, too) to wait a bit after the salads come out to fire the entrées. It was Friday night and I get wanting to turn tables over but I felt like I was being rushed. We tried the bread pudding dessert and it was very very good. I almost cut the rating down to 4 stars because of the timing of the food, but the food was so good I added the star back!

Last night was my first time at this location but I'm no stranger to Fezzos. This location is very nice and very large. I was with a party if 8 and we were seating promptly upon arrival and was provided great service by our server Mia. I ordered the Oyster Sampler to start which offered 4 different styles of chargrilled oysters. The sampler was delicious! For my entree I ordered the Catfish festival w/ seafood etoufee. The portion size is huge! Fezzos was a wonderful experience per usual!

In town visiting, this place was okay....Cajun flavor was here but not the best. Service was great! Establishment was clean.

We had chicken and sausage gumbo, Pepper Jack boudin balls, bam bam gator bites and the blackened chicken pasta. The waiter this time was better than the waitress we had last time. He was very attentive and made sure we never had to ask for refills. The appetizers came out fairly normal time-wise I would say. The main portion took a little bit longer than what you're used to at a franchise restaurant but here that's perfectly fine as it's worth the couple extra minutes. The gumbo is perfect(I love when gumbo is not over complicated) I like to add a lil hot sauce to it and it's delicious... only thing is, while they already give generous portions... the cup and the bowl looked exactly the same except I think in the bowl they give you one extra scoop of rice... which would be just fine if it wasn't like $6 more. But still delicious nonetheless. The bam bam gator bites were really good and I highly recommend them. If you like bam bam shrimp you'll love these. The pepper jack boudin balls were good, nothing special but they were definitely worth the try. My co-worker had the blackened chicken pasta and when I asked him how it was he said "dude, it's really good!" lol. The building is pretty unique and they have some outside seating with a massive beautiful tree that over looks the restaurant and takes claim to some of the asphalt in the parking lot lol. But it's a great spot for birthdays, good lunch menu deals, casual date night or if you wanna blow some steam off, they have a little bar in the restaurant as well. Overall, I HIGHLY recommend. I'm from East Texas, so I'm no Cajun/Louisianan but they truly got some good grub here. I'll definitely be coming back several more times when I get the chances. I will warn you, I believe the food is freshly made so when it gets to the table, give it some time to cool off because it comes out HOT.

This review is LONG overdue:…read more As first-time guests at Poor Boy's Riverside Inn in Broussard, Louisiana, we were completely captivated by this historic, family-owned gem that's been serving authentic Cajun cuisine for nearly a century. The atmosphere strikes a perfect balance of rustic charm and subtle elegance, reminiscent of South Louisiana's river camps. With its warm lighting and lively buzz of happy diners, it's an inviting spot for everything from a casual meal to a special celebration. Our culinary experience was outstanding from start to finish. We began with appetizers of Cajun crab fingers, crispy and bursting with fresh Gulf flavor, and alligator tidbits, perfectly seasoned and wonderfully unique. The entrées were phenomenal: the Redfish Extravaganza, a masterpiece of fresh redfish stuffed with crabmeat and topped with a rich blend of more crab, crawfish, and mushrooms, delivered bold Cajun flavors in every bite. The Crabmeat Imperial was decadently creamy, while the filet with Riverside topping--a tender, perfectly cooked steak crowned with jumbo lump crab and mushrooms--was pure indulgence. Our drinks elevated the experience further: a Richard's tequila martini, crisp and refreshing; a Blue Raspberry martini, vibrant and fun; and a Buffalo Trace Old Fashioned smoked with an Italian cherry, adding a sophisticated, smoky depth. Dessert was a highlight, with warm, soul-soothing homemade bread pudding and sweet potato beignets, a creative, sugary delight that left us smiling. Every dish and drink showcased the Hurst family's dedication to fresh, high-quality ingredients and authentic Cajun recipes. What made our first visit truly unforgettable was our server, Meagan, who was an absolute superstar. She greeted us with a warm, genuine smile that instantly made us feel welcome. Meagan's knowledge of the menu was impeccable, and her recommendations guided us to perfect choices with enthusiasm and confidence. Even more impressive was her deep understanding of the Hurst family's history and the restaurant's legacy--she shared captivating stories about Poor Boy's nearly 100-year journey, adding a special layer of connection to our meal. Her attentiveness was flawless, ensuring our drinks were refilled and our needs met with a friendliness that made us feel like longtime regulars. Meagan's passion and care transformed our dining experience into something truly extraordinary. Poor Boy's Riverside Inn is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Cajun cuisine in a warm, historic setting. The Hurst family's legacy shines through in every bite and sip, and with servers like Meagan delivering exceptional service and storytelling, it's easy to see why this place is a Louisiana treasure. As first-time guests, we're already eager to return. Five stars for an incredible meal, perfectly crafted drinks, and an unforgettable experience, thanks to Meagan's outstanding hospitality!

This is a top-notch local seafood restaurant, and long time favorite. When I say "long-term", I'm almost 82 & have been a customer for over 65 years, since coming with my parents in the 1950's. I know of no other restaurant anywhere with that record of excellence & consistent performance. The specialty is Louisiana Atlantic blue crab, and in that genre, Riverside has no real peers. Yes, they offer a wider array including local crawfish, shrimp, & oysters; plus cold water lobsters & steaks. But our crab is delicate & must be handled with expertise. Riverside does that better than I could at home on the Teche. Secluded off street lot parking, swamp-ish theme landscaped grounds, locals bar, professional waitstaff.
