Really enjoyed the festive atmosphere with lively Dixieland jazz music playing in the dining room. Ordered the Boudin Stuffed Pork Chop with side of mashed sweet potatoes & the jalapeño cheese grits. Overall great flavor though the grits were very dry like they had been baked on the plate and had a crispy crust on the outside. They tasted good, but I wasn't expecting that texture. My mom ordered the flounder with cream sauce and sides of potato salad & mashed sweet potatoes. She said she really enjoyed it. They also served a bread basket of thinly sliced salted garlic bread before the meal. We ordered a slice of the chocolate doberge cake to take home which seemed a bit more like French silk chocolate pie with a chocolate cake bottom. Tasted delicious & very rich. Our waitress was very friendly. Plenty of parking spaces outside. They have a large bar area too so seems like it would be a fun happy hour spot after work. read more

So tasty! I had the blackened chicken pasta, and it was fantastic. So flavorful and a giant giant portion. Also came with some garlic bread, which was tasty, but the pasta was so filling, I didn't eat much of it. Ordering online was a little frustrating as I placed the order about an hour ahead but when I arrived, I was told it wouldn't be made until I got there, so I had to wait longer. Best gumbo I've ever had. All the family loved this place and I cannot highly recommend the food and service.

This used to be one of our favorite stops in Lafayette, when this restaurant was at its old location. I've never warmed up to it at the new location, probably because they took the Boucherie Board off the menu. We visited on a Sunday at our friends choice. One of our friends got the bottomless mimosas and a couple in our group got the bloody Mary's, which they seem to enjoy. My friend got the meatloaf which she enjoyed and another of our party got the shrimp tacos which she asked for fried shrimp instead of grilled and they were able to accommodate her. I think she enjoyed her lunch. Now I have to tell you that my husband is a Poboy snob. He really shouldn't ever order a Poboy anywhere but in New Orleans because he is very picky about the bread, but this was not even close to Poboy bread. They should call it a fried shrimp hoagie because the bread almost resembled a hotdog bun, but it was more like a hoagie bun. I think the shrimp was cooked nicely, but my husband said he would never order that again. I ordered the crawfish étouffée. In Lafayette, I think you should be run out of town if you can't make good étouffée. This étouffée tasted OK. It was a little bland, but the sauce seem to be made correctly. What I didn't like was that some of the crawfish were a little gray in color which leads me to believe that this was frozen or leftover étouffée that was not made that day and they added in a handful of fresh crawfish tales, which were bright and fresh and color. It tasted OK and it didn't make me sick or anything so it was OK, but that is the highest praise. I could give it if you are a restaurant in Lafayette, Louisiana, you should make a fresh batch of étouffée for the Sunday brunch crowd. Now, maybe they were having a bad day, maybe the chef didn't show up or he had a late night. I understand this happens with restaurants sometimes which was why I didn't give them a lower score. read more

After scouring high and low for food recommendations, we came here because it seemed to be one of the most popular locations to grab Cajun food. We came at 4:30pm on a Friday. It wasn't busy and we took advantage of their 2 for 1 happy hour. We started with the gator bites appetizer, which I highly recommend! From there it was tough for me to pick what I wanted so I went with the crawfish pot pie. The inside was cold. I was disappointed. Tried this place while in town for a wedding atmosphere was good very welcoming. Food was delicious. Service was just ok I think we might have had a new server he didn't really seem to want to give us suggestions and when we asked questions he just looked at the menu and read us what was there which we could do ourselves. Stopped in for dinner when traveling through Lafayette on Mardi Gras trip. Nice upscale pubby atmosphere, friendly and efficient service. Hayley was very personable and helpful with menu choices. My partner decided on shrimp tacos at her recommendation and was very happy with them. I took a bite and they were expertly prepared and delicious. I had the Crawfish Pot Pie, it looked huge but was shallower than expected so it filled me up without wasting too much food - I finished all the Crawfish Etouffee inside anyway. It was very good, could have been a tad juicier but it was very tasty. I also had a Ragin Cajun Rita which was spicy and refreshing. We had a decent meal at Bon Temps. The waiter was extremely helpful and friendly, and assisted with some recommendations. We started with the crispy crab cakes as an appetizer and while it wasn't lump crabmeat, the crunchy texture combined with the soft shell or blue crab inside was a nice combo and the white sauce was delicious. Prior to ordering the main course, my waiter was nice enough to let me sample all three sauces in addition to sampling the crawfish etouffee which I appreciated. I decided to go with the blackened flounder over safe sweet potatoes. I found the flounder a little too salty and the portion was on the smaller side but I loved the brown sauce and the salsa. My friend ordered the mahi mahi and while he seemed to enjoy it, it tasted rather bland to me. The waiter gave us some garlic bread to get us started and we enjoyed his pleasant demeanor as well as the restaurant's vibes. I've slowly become more disappointed over time. I've said similar before. I have a toddler so I get delivery to my hotel room for dinner, especially if we are tired. Like tonight! I have my order screenshot and the receipt that came on my delivery bag. They don't match my order fully. Missing my drink. Missing the side of red beans (for my toddler because he is a picky eater and might not eat the kids order I bought him) Fries to me mean French fries not potato bits/wedges -- so he wouldn't eat those since they weren't French fries. The Caesar salad dressing was split (oily on top even after shaking the container) definitely meh and seemed flavorless. The boudin balls inside were "watery" kind of mushy with no real texture just mushy. Overall the meal was edible, spice was there, most items were just okay. Bummed because early on I was very impressed with multiple meals. I always say maybe the dine in is better. I'm convinced now though that I won't be ordering out from here anymore. I'm a tired mom alone with a toddler on a trip for a funeral and the last thing I want to deal with is meal order issues with a picky toddler. Also why are their two different fees added to the order too? Nearly a $10 "service fee" what is this service fee? The restaurant tip? Because missing items twice now I'd like to deduct my tip. The delivery and driver were great! I used Grubhub. If we have the sit down time and energy then maybe we will go in for dinner and see if the meals are better served there. Not Cajun by any means. I don't get the reviews. Everything was completely bland, no seasoning. I had to add salt and pepper to my blackend flounder (and everything else). The "jalapeno grits" didn't have jalapeno and were as dry as polenta. The Crab cake was wet dough with a single piece of crab on top. My friend never received his side dish. My chicken was so dry it was hard to even cut. She finally returned with the checks well after we finished eating. Good food, decent service, dog-friendly patio. We went at 6 on a Thursday and it was pretty much empty. We sat with our dog on the back porch. My wife had the crawfish enchiladas, which she really liked. I had the crawfish etoufee, which was good but I didn't find the roux to be particularly brown with strong peppery flavors, like I prefer. The service was a little slow, given that the restaurant was empty, but we weren't in a hurry. All in all, it was a good dinner though not what I'd call amazing Cajun food. read more

Went with a friend and we had happy hour drinks (denoted by alligator image on menu) I had lemon lavender drop martini. It was tasty but I should have upgrade vodka but there goes happy hour price. Put us at a high top table in the bar that was sticky and dirty. We saw some available tables in the dining room and asked that two tables be moved together for us. Manager told us that was not possible and that he could only put us on a waiting list for the next available table. Told us there were no other options however restaurant wasn't that busy. The fish selections were nice and hubby tried the speckled trout. Chicken with satsuma meunière sauce was nice. The satsuma gives the meunière butter a nice tangy and slightly sweet flavor that would also pair nicely with the fish. Our server was very attentive. Prices were very fair and food was nice. I've visited Bon Temps Grill on a number of occasions. Every time I've ever eaten there the food is next level delicious, waitstaff is friendly, hardworking and knowledgeable about their menu. On the one occasion that I was left waiting a long time and food was served cold I spoke with management and he made everything right and really took care of us so I will assuredly return and enjoy another dining experience. If you want a delicious taste of Cajun culture and enjoy some unique items that are not offered at most other Cajun restaurants. I highly recommend Bon Temps Grill! read more

We loved the food and service here! Everything we had was delicious! We had the salad with field greens, crunchy chicken, strawberries, Gorgonzola, granola and delicious praline dressing. We had the cheesy crab dip! The gumbo was tasty but really spicy! The cup was a huge bowl! My husband had the house special which was a mahi mahi with a spicy honey glaze and grilled shrimp and smashed sweet potatoes! He loved it! Our waitress was fantastic! She knew the menu well and gave us excellent service! We loved the crispy garlic bread that they bring you after you sit down! So good! Highly recommend this restaurant! We stopped at Bob Temps Grill on our way to Houston. It was amazing! We had the bang bang alligator bites. Definitely a must try. I had the chicken salad which was beautifully presented. My friend had the shrimp tacos and was very pleased. She's a California native so it passed that test. My other friend had a special which was rice and gravy with steak tips. Very good food, and very good service. We took a chance and were pleasantly surprised with great choices of good food and great deserts. Our server, Justin, was helpful and friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. THANK YOU to the DOUBLetree, Lafayette, La for refusing us service (because, in spite of expecting two bus loads of people, they had only one cook, 2 servers and could not handle more than three tables at a time. They did, however, have THREE Hostesses!). Well, our recommendation is to skip DOUBLETREE entirely and to enjoy the hospitality of Bon Temps! Pulled in about 5pm. Greeted and seated right away. The place was decked out in Wonka decor they are doing a charity event for Grief Counseling for children. Kenzie was our server and was so helpful, patient and kind. On her recommendation we tried the Jalapeño and Crawfish Hushpuppies appetizer and they were the most amazing things I have tried in a long time. Flavorful and paired with a remoulade that I would be down to drink it was so good. We split a Gator Bang bang poor boy the only negative I have to say about that was there was no kick that I would classify as a spice/kick but the Gator was cooked perfectly. I paired that with a Gnarly barley Jucifer IPA and it was delicious and well priced so I didn't feel guilty having another. My daughter ordered the kids Gator Mac and fries not your blue box Mac but quality scratch Mac. I was shocked to see it was only 3.95 and it turns out we were given an old menu because it was not in fact 3.95 but 6.95. All in all I highly recommend checking this place out! read more

I went here because it has decent rates on Yelp! I sat down at the bar around 6P for an early dinner. The bartender was a younger guy that said he was going to school at UL. He was very cordial and made some menu recommendations. He said his favorite item was the Crawfish enchiladas so that's what I went with. I got maque choux and veggie skewer for my sides. The enchiladas are very rich and cheesy. They don't look like much when they come out in a serving boat but I struggled to put them both down because of how rich they were. It was the first time I'd tried maque choux. It was pretty good and had a little spice. The veggie skewer helped cut back on the richness of the enchiladas. I don't make it to Lafayette often. The next time I'm in town I don't think I'll make it a point to come back. I might use Bon Temps as a fall back. read more

This was the best restaurant I visited on a recent trip to the Lafayette area. The atmosphere alone sort of reminded me of a Mexican restaurant, even though the food is cajun, or a derivative of it, at least.. It helped they were having an event the night I visited, and all waitresses and several employees were dressed up, and there was live music on a Tuesday evening, early. I tried the ceviche, trout entree with mango salsa, and the chefs fresh catch, which was a thick fish filet, I forgot the exact fish, but it really hit the spot with the Satsuma sauce. I also added a cocktail as part of the event, which was on special for like $5, I couldn't resist. It was their version of a chocolate martini. It was well worth the price. I did skip out on their raffle that evening. I really wanted to try the desserts, but I ended up skipping for next time. I had another spot picked out for dessert in another part of town.
