I brought my dog from Michigan to Fort Collins for a hemipelvectomy at the Flint Cancer center at the University. It was a difficult procedure, but they did a stellar job. The Vets and specialists at Royal Vista did her follow up care, and they did an amazing job. Extremely thorough, I could not have found a better team. She had a complication, and they implemented procedures I've never heard of, placing 'antibiotic beads' in her wound when it was having issues. They were so professional, patient, and I know they helped with saving her life. I am forever grateful for finding this clinic, and if I am in CO again it will be my first choice! read more

On June 8, 2025, I brought my 11-year-old dog, Piper, to Royal Vista Veterinary Specialists in a desperate attempt to save her after she took a turn for the worse. What followed was not only a devastating loss but an utterly deplorable experience that turned our grief into anger and disbelief. This facility's lack of empathy, blatant money-grabbing tactics, and gross negligence in handling our pet's final moments have left an indelible stain on what should have been a somber but respectful farewell. From the moment I arrived, the staff demonstrated a callous disregard for my financial constraints and emotional state. I called ahead, informing them of Piper's condition and my limited budget, explicitly requesting transparency on costs. They quoted an initial $380 for testing and the visit, which I agreed to. However, within 15 minutes, a staff member informed me the doctor wanted additional tests, ballooning the cost to $688. When I inquired about payment plans, hoping to pay half now and half later, I was curtly told they don't offer such options and threatened with collections if I didn't pay in full. Under duress, I signed for the $688, only to be blindsided later with a $907 bill. The additional charges, including roughly $140 for euthanasia and $120 for communal cremation, were never discussed beforehand. Their excuse? A half-hearted, "I can't say I'm sorry enough." Even then, they tried to upsell us a "beautiful locket pouch" for a lock of her hair, which we refused in disgust. This experience stands in stark contrast to the compassionate care we received two years ago at a Texas vet when we lost our 19-year-old dog, Gidget. That clinic charged nothing for the visit, $35 for euthanasia, and provided communal cremation at no cost. They sent us home, refused to let us pay that day, and sent a bill mailed later to prioritize our emotional well-being. They dimmed the lights and lit a candle to honor our loss, creating a memory filled with dignity and care. Days later, in the mail, they sent us a certificate featuring Gidget's paw prints, her name, and a lock of hair tied with a pink bow, all free of cost. This was a deeply emotional time for is, as any pet owner who has lost a furry family member can understand. When I received the paw print, I was devastated to see that my dog's name was misspelled. What should have been a comforting keepsake turned into a painful reminder of carelessness. I reached out, assuming it was a simple mistake and could be corrected, but was told they would not remake it or offer any kind of resolution (They finally refunded money for the paw print, but stated that was all they could do). It's hard to put into words how upsetting this was. This wasn't just a typo -- it was my dog's name, and their final remembrance. The lack of empathy and unwillingness to take responsibility made the experience even worse. We have not brought him the easiest of ailments and with his knowledge, efforts, and suggested treatment regimen they are back to healthy again. On one occasion he could have said we tried all the options and there is nothing else we can do, but he suggested an alternative that worked extremely well and has allowed us more time with Charlie. We had to put our cat down last weekend, and they were all extremely kind. Everyone was super patient, gave us plenty of alone time, and allowed us to choose the urn for cremation. Just had a wonderful experience at Royal Vista Veterinary in Windsor!! My cat has been having abnormal labs on routine exams that I've been monitoring regularly. She's a Siamese mix and very vocal and a bit fidgety but very sweet and not aggressive at all. Only vets with lots of cat experiences truly know the difference between aggressive cats vs. merely vocal cats and won't have any issues performing any professional veterinary services. Since my cat gets so stressed during blood draws, we needed an abdominal ultrasound to make sure these abnormal labs are just stressed related vs. a true medical issue. I contacted Royal Vista as one of the few ultrasound providers in our area. They were extremely nice and explained everything in detail, provided me with a rough estimate of price and was able to schedule the appointment within 2 days, although I was given an option to be seen same day for an emergency visit for extra charge. I opted to wait 2 days instead. Location was super close and convenient. Plenty of parking and office/hospital area was large and clean with plenty of seating. I was attended to immediately and all questions were answered quickly. Front desk staff and ultrasound tech were amazing! Extremely nice, thoughtful and very informative! They explained the process step by step and advised if anesthesia with exam was needed, they would let me know in advance and what those fees would be. I was given the option to opt to select to opt in or out for CPR if needed and what the cost range was. Tech advised, they rarely use anesthesia for ultrasound which was very comforting knowing how experienced they must be. Paperwork said ultrasound length would be about 20-30 mins. But my cat was done less than 20 mins. showing how highly trained and skilled they are. They said my kitty was vocal but behaved well nor was aggressive, even as they were shaving her belly for the ultrasound. I was so relieved as I've had other vets not able to easily draw blood on my cat and blaming it the cat being too vocal or blaming me the owner for making the cat anxious. So having Royal Vista reassure me that it's not my cats issue or mine, was so comforting! I currently now have an experienced cat vet/tech that draws labs easily so it's no longer an issue, but going to new places stirs up that old PTSD, but the staff here at Royal Vista are all so very warm, caring, professional and experienced! They are definitely well trained to know how to handle sweet but vocal cats. Plus the cherry on top was the cost of the abdominal ultrasound was even less than quoted since no exam or anesthesia was needed!! Cheapest ultrasound around for $315 Plus even better, they were able to get the results sent to my primary vet that very same day hours later and even emailed me a copy! What a wonderful place. We took our dog there. Kept her for 2.5 days! Said diagnosis was kennel cough and pneumonia. We finally picked her up. She was so drugged up she didn't recognize us. Had poop all over her bottom. So now poop was all over car seats. Put her on antibiotics and a bunch of other meds. Got home still lethargic. She was ok for a day but still coughing. She just kept getting worse. 6000 bucks later didn't help at all. We ended up taking her to another hospital. 1. Not kennel cough 2 not pneumonia 3 New vet ran a few test and she only had a fungal infection in her lungs that antibiotics would not help. Put on steroids and went home. 1st night not one cough. The royal vista ran tons of test and more test and no results. We feel we were over charged. Don't recommend. read more

We did have to wait a long time after that, but the staff kept us up to date with our dog's tests and treatment, which we really appreciated. And call in (as you must do on arrival) and am told sorry, we tried to call you to reschedule. I have no missed calls or voicemails from Royal Vista, but ok. Annoying, but miscommunications and errors happen. I reschedule. I request a confirmation email. And I'm told they 'don't really do confirmations', to which I reply understandably that I would like one. To which the receptionist begins again defensively recounting how they tried to contact me. I don't expect to be treated unprofessionally, particularly when I (who will be paying hundreds of dollars for the service) have been the one inconvenienced, and multiple times. I also believe that in 2022 a confirmation email or even text are de rigeuer. Find someplace else. I certainly will. read more

Our dog had to go in for an ultrasound tonight. They ran behind schedule, because the dog before us was in rough shape. We waited our turn, and I am so glad that we did. The tech listened to all my concerns, she was so sweet with our boy and put me at ease. When she brought him back out, she talked with me and I was able to go home feeling better about what Riley's future may hold. I'm glad we chose to come here for his ultrasound. Our furry friend has a tumor on her arm. Our regular vet referred us to Royal Vista to assess the margins to remove the tumor. We initially were helped by a lovely oncologist who took an xray of her lungs, did blood work and an overall physical assessment. She said she would call in a couple of days with results and we would figure out the next step. She Did Not. In fact, she is no longer at Royal Vista. We called to get results and, after a bit of a run around, were told what kind of tumor it was and the exorbitant fee the surgery would cost. We were also told that she had pharangeal paralysis that they could also take care of during the surgery. NOTE: we mentioned that she was coughing as part of the intake but it was never discussed nor looked at. How can they diagnose something that needs surgery without looking at it??? Apparently, we were speaking to a receptionist who informed us that a doctor would call us back as she could not answer our questions. That didn't happened until we called to get the test results sent to our vet. Then they called and wanted to schedule a consult. We went and they wanted to charge us a $250 more after we already paid $1000 for the tests and original visit. We declined. Our vet is scheduled to do the surgery for a quarter of the price. The money, for us, is not an object as she is part of our family, but obviously it is the object for this practice. We did not appreciate their cavalier attitude or the feel of their greedy fingers in our pocket. We Do Not Recommend Royal Vista at all in any way what so ever. They deserve ZERO stars. read more

After much diagnostics and X-rays... we chose a non surgical path for the pup.... We spent hours driving between multiple vets to figure out what was going on with our dog and finally landed at Royal Vista, who performed emergency surgery to remove a thick palm sized chunk of rubber toy from my dogs stomach. They were informative and up front about the procedure, compassionate, and their costs were as close to affordable as we could find. The doctors gave prompt and thorough updates, which helped immensely while our minds raced with "what if" scenarios. Unfortunately, we were at Royal Vista last Sunday evening for euthanasia of our 15 y/o dog who took an unexpected turn for the worse. All the staff was extremely kind, compassionate, and caring during the entire ordeal. They made us and our pet feel very comfortable during the process. They let us have as much time with her as we wished. When I went back to pick up her belongings, paw print, and cremains, it was a positive experience as well. I brought my baby here after being sent from another vet that didn't have a working X-ray machine. My kitten was bit by a dog in his abdomen, I knew it was serious because his stomach was all distorted. The previous vet suspected a hernia but needed imaging to determine where and the type of surgery he'd need but knew he needed surgery. After two hours waiting the vet came out to tell me they saw nothing on the X-ray and he needed an ultrasound. Unfortunately it was 9pm on Monday and an ultrasound technician didn't come til Wednesday but they might be able to get one the next day. I expected an EMERGENCY vet to have all resources available in an emergency, even if they had to call someone in. Regardless, the vet told me my kitten was stable and doing good, he no longer needed oxygen but they hadn't taken blood work because my kitten wasn't cooperating (he could barely move and according to my bill he was on an IV?) They didn't know why his stomach was distorted but it could just be an air bubble in his stomach, I was skeptical but had hope my baby would make it. They wanted near $2500 up front for the care he received and future care. It was late and we were approved for a loan but wouldn't get the money until the next day because it was after hours. We asked to pay for the care he did receive which was around $600 or so and pay the rest the next day when the loan came through, they wouldn't allow this. We pulled all the money from our autistic sons therapy account to cover the $2500 so we could go home. 20 minutes after leaving I got a call "that he had taken a turn for the worst, he had stopped breathing and died." They also finally got blood work and he had severe levels of toxins in his blood. I don't think they even attempted to work on him until we paid. After talking with other vets and researching, he had a 70% chance of survival if he had surgery. 6hrs at vets and he was kept warm, on oxygen and some pain meds is all the care he received. I relive that day in agony knowing he would very likely still be here if I had taken him anywhere else. I included a picture of my beautiful boy so you could see him as I did, he was so precious and had a full life ahead of him, IF they cared as much about their patients as they did about their money. The other place we brought her to just upped her medication which did nothing. This place actually took her in and examined her and did an ultrasound that she obviously NEEDED. UPDATE: I have been trying to fill my dog's insulin prescription since yesterday. The Pharmacist has been trying to verify the type of syringes that were needed. I finally called to get the type so I could save my dogs life. Upon me calling they transferred me to the Finacial person whose first and only concern was the review I had left. MY FIRST AND ONLY CONCERN is getting the syringes for my dog because she needs the INSULIN! This is what they are truly all about! THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR FUR BABY! They only care about money and reviews! STAY AWAY I was referred to this vet by another vet who said the price would be cheaper than anywhere else. My total bill was $8,500. The staff was very rude. They did not give me specifics when I would call and ask for updates. All they would say is that she ate and is doing great. But when we picked her up her blood sugar was still high. They sent out someone who never touched my dog or had any involvement with her care at all. She couldn't answer our questions regarding her care at home. And she didn't fully explain how to administer her insulin. They charged us an additional $600 for who knows what. When we got home, she wouldn't eat. When we called them back to ask what she had been eating there and when the last time she ate was they responded with "well since she checked out, we cannot pull up her record." Are you serious?
