This is hands down the best experience I have ever had with a veterinary hospital. The entire staff starting from communication even before the in-person visit was very inviting and easy. They made myself and my pets feel very comfortable, they provided options, they were kind, and extremely knowledgeable. The staff at this practice are some of the most patient, kind and helpful people I have ever met in a vet clinic. I had a horrible experience at another vet that left my dog traumatized, and they have worked with my dog, at his slow pace, to build a relationship with him. After feeling like I'd never be able to take him anywhere, I've felt so much relief coming to this vet. My whole family now visits them, and we've also had great experiences taking our older dog in for acupuncture. read more

My dog recently had his teeth cleaned and I was very disappointed in two areas. I had asked to see the xrays in surgery if there were any problems (I have a dental background). They agreed but didn't do it, in fact they sent the xrays the next day.... day late and I was disappointed. THEN after having his major procedure, NO ONE from the clinic called to check on my doggy later that day. I've never had a vet that didn't care enough to call and check on my baby after a surgery, so again I was disappointed. Not even a text to follow up! I'm moving out of the area, but even if I was staying, I wouldn't want to go to a vet who seems to care more about making money than caring about their patients. So disappointing. read more

The doctor I saw, Dr. Martell was a complete chauvinist! no bedside manner and very dismissive. Everything is literally 200% overpriced! I WiLL NOT be returning, not recommending to family or friends! Such a bummer as we just moved to the area! read more

Well... they are really good at providing drugs to pets that are not appropriate. My pet was horribly mismanaged. Expensive tests that were not appropriate. When I did bring my pet in for a final visit, vet did not even come in to discuss situation. Vet tech asked what we could do to make it right. Hmm... 2k later was a small price to pay for finding out what bad care they provide. My pets are safe with care at different facility! read more

My dog Sadie was a patient. There was an emergency in the middle of the day during regular hours and they told us to take her to urgent care in ft collins which would have been an hour in traffic. Took her to urgent care in Longmont. She was a stranger to them and they did what they could. SADIE DIED. She should have had her regular vet who had her history. There was no help and no compassion. I'm finding a new vet for Buddy. 4 seasons in Loveland has been recommended. If you have a senior dog don't go here. read more

We have been using this facility for over 25 years. I currently don't see the same quality of service that we received years ago. Every time I call I'm put on hold. They are slow at getting back to you when you call for meds. I did like the interactions with the actual vets, but with this curbside bs, I'm losing faith in using their services. I've lost my patience for using this facility and may change where I take my business. We cannot continue to blame COVID for everything wrong with our world. read more

We moved to Berthoud about a year ago and since then have been taking our pups to the wonderful staff at Berthoud Animal hospital. Sadly we haven't met any of the lovely vets in person due to a Covid but have felt well cared for, understood and have had nothing but warm interactions with the staff. We had a younger dog that was diagnosed with a rare cancer and hospice care was the only option. The staff was always willing to talk if we needed advise, was always very honest about the prognosis and helped us through a hard time with so much care and heart- not always an easy task when you haven't met the family and all of the conversations are over the phone. Berthoud Animal Hospital staff we can't wait to meet you and thank you in person some day soon but till then we are so grateful for you all and will continue to be loyal clients. read more

I have had nothing but problems with Berthoud Animal Hospital. Latest and last discretion is that they charge between $700-$1400 to clean the teeth of a healthy five year old husky mix. I only got this quote after paying for the office visit and postoperative bloodwork. I was also missed quoted the price of the heartworm medicine and when I tried to order it online based on their test they wanted to charge me $15 to provide a prescription. We love Berthoud Animal Hospital. I'm sorry to see the negative reviews. No, they aren't perfect, and yes veterinary care is pricey - that's the downside to owning and properly caring for a pet. They are a very busy practice, and sometimes you are put on hold. The entitlement mentality of some of the people on here amazes me. However, despite the fact they are less than perfect (please name any healthcare practice that gets it right every time), the doctors and staff at Berthoud Animal Hospital have always been kind to both me and my dogs. Vets, vet techs, and assistants have to deal with A LOT - probably especially from humans - so we need to cut them some slack. If they treat your animals well, that is 90% of the game. read more

Took our dog in and Sarah Stafford was the DVM that saw her. She was unable to determine what the issue was with the dog and for 2 hours kept running every test that they could and charging me for services because she could not properly diagnose. She also did not inform me of the cost for these services and then proceeded to want to do even more tests, Ultrasound, x-rays, IVs, urinalysis, checking in to hospital for observation etc. I finally said enough because it was plainly obvious she was inexperienced and had no idea what she was doing. Went out and they charged me $342.20. Took her to a different DVM and he immediately knew what the issue was and charged me $60 and our dog was properly diagnosed and helped. I was charged for services to compensate for Sarah's lack of expertise and knowledge and was prescribed medications that were not right for the dog. read more
