I'm in town for work and this is the closest place to my hotel. I booked a shellac manicure and a polish change on my toes. For reference, I like my nails as short as possible and "squoval". I asked for my nails to be cut really short- done perfectly. I didn't have to ask about the shape because they were so short already- awesome. There was no polish left on my skin or cuticles afterward- great. The polish change on my toes was fine, I'm not as picky about that because my feet are under a desk all day. Other perk- it was pretty quiet, which I really love, no TV, no loud music. The only downside is that I made an appointment at 11 and didn't get started until 11:20. Also this place is not super fancy, it's not a spa. I knew that going in so I was fine with it. read more

I love this salon so much. Demi is so sweet every time I see her and always caters to anything I would like done with my nails! I've moved around a bit so I've gone to a ton of other salons but I always come back to this one! They are fast, efficient and have so many options for nails. Anytime I break one they will fix it for free. They are all personable and happy to see you come in the door. I will not be able to stop going to this location. And it's also not expensive as hell! We went here for a pedi a day or two before this past xmas (2017) because the place we usually go to was booked up. My daughters right big toe got beat up pretty badly when the technician did the cuticles. It was immediately cut and swollen. Within a day it was looking worse. Within a few days it was full on infected and she had to go to the emergency room and was put on antibiotics. Point of all this is that the 'foot tub' etc seemed to not be clean at all. The question I always have about nail salons is whether the tools have been properly sanitized between clients since you really don't see what they've done with that stuff behind the scenes. So the tools? I couldn't tell. I can say however that the foot tub's cleanliness was questionable at best. Needless to say we won't go back. read more

I took my N.Y.C mom to Royalty Nails. New Yorkers have the best nail salons, I know because I lived there. The owner Demi does the Best Solar Nails by far. I went to Demi years ago, and after a long while she now is my only go to gal for pedi and mani. She is the Best!!! DIRTY The towel was reused and had another customer's nail clippings on it. It wasn't even changed. The nail files are being reused (they are heavily covered with white nail residue from the 100 other clients) and I didn't see the people working there wash their hands. I have been going to this salon forever. great attention to detail. good choice of gel polish colors. I am very very picky about my nails and demi is great. Jesse also gives a killer pedicure. The price is great as well. I used to pay way too much for a half decent manicure, for someone who gets their nails done every 2 weeks price matters. I would call ahead so you don't have to wait. I had a terrible experience here today. I went in for a pedicure and debated walking out without finishing the service. Three times I debated walking out. The service was dismissive, fast and non-caring, with little attention to detail. The woman did not use cuticle softener and started pushing my cuticle back without my feet soaking and then unbelievably starting trimming the cuticle. I couldn't figure out why it hurt so much so I paid attention when she did the second foot and that's when I saw she used no softener. I asked about that and the "technician" said my feet were already soft enough because they had been soaking. They had been soaking the length of time it takes to remove the polish. About 45 seconds. Not acceptable. She did not rinse my feet with clean water before she started the "massage" portion of the service; she simply dried off my feet with the SAME dirty towel she had my feet resting on for the cuticle/skin removal. That was disgusting. It gets better. I looked at my feet before she started putting on the polish and there was still dirt in at least 4 of my toenails. I started trying to pick it out and then discovered tons of dead skin that had not been removed. I was thoroughly disgusted and couldn't wait to get out of there. She was still using that same dirty towel. She acted annoyed that I was not going along for the ride and hustled me out of there at 5:10, even though they close at 6:00 and no one else had come or gone the whole time I was there. This whole time two other "technicians" were there and they were playing along with the Family Feud game show and it felt like they could have cared less about me as a customer. It appeared I was an imposition to their free Saturday afternoon. I was in the car getting ready to leave when they left and locked up at 5:15. read more

Don't go. Understaffed. A pedicure that should have been relaxing took 20 minutes and hardly did the service. Very nice women but totally overworked with walk-ins and appointment clients who pay for this. I also saw no attempt to sterilize any implements and was surprised to see another person soak in the pedi tub right after I used it. I'm sure they wiped it down, but no scrubbing or removable liner was used. I'm staying away. read more

I had the most wonderful experience getting a gel manicure from Kim! After my harrowing experience at Helena's in Denver, I was hesitant to do gel again, but Kim explained to me that she would take care of my nails and went on to give me one of the nicest manicures I've ever had. The tech, I think the owner, slammed the process in 18 minutes flat (during which she took a break to remove the shellac on another customer) Pushed back cuticles with out soaking, left dirt under my nails, didn't use enough lotion/oil during the terrible and obviously short massage that my hands were turning red. I went in to this nail salon on a whim and it was really nice inside. However, I ended up waiting 20 minutes and having nothing done except "soaking" my nails to get the polish off the entire time. I wouldn't have minded waiting since I came in without an appointment but a "regular" came in and they started tending to her and doing more to her nails then they did to mine even though I was there a good 10 minutes before her. It was kind of ridiculous so I ended up leaving... Definitely won't be back. read more

I just went in for a basic manicure that was nothing special.. it would've been hard to mess that up. But I think if the "technician" could have she would have.. like others here have said.. rude. She acted like she didn't care at all about me or my nails and couldn't wait to get done so she could.. who knows..? and she kept yanking on my hand and telling me to relax.. which is kind of hard to do when your not sure what the heck she's doing! There is one word to sum up my experience at this salon - RUDE. The atmosphere is very unprofessional and rude. I was not treated with any respect and when a regular customer arrived I was left hanging and finally had to head for the door before someone paid attention to me. I was not valued as a customer. I have been a regular customer for over a year. I started by myself, but now go monthly with my 86 yr old mom, and bi-monthly we include my 89 yr old dad. Demi, Jess, Kim and Tony are truly kind, funny and thorough. The place is cheery, clean and welcoming and lots of options for mani/pedi's at value prices. Can walk in, but better to call ahead if you can't wait a bit when they get busy. Good attention to detail, especially cuticles and ingrowns after softeners and good soak: same towel used, yes; but then use a clean hot towel to get oils from a very good massage to penetrate, then use alcohol-based spray to clean nails for polish, two coats plus clear topcoat. Simple mani is similar, but neat process to bring nails to a better-than-natural sheen. Yes, their first language is Vietnamese, but it never feels pointed at customers, just a natural part of their everyday lives; and they shift easily in and out to converse happily with customers, or to leave you to your own zen. TV gives diversion, or a cover to your conversations. I am a happy ongoing customer. read more
