Amazing product and stunning service. I tried a variety of chocolates, some tabs, the and the nama collection. I tried the matcha nama and the origins collection pack. The Nama was nice and creamy with the right amount of matcha to provide a balanced taste of earthy matcha and the smoothness the Nama is known for. The origins collection provided a trip around the world via cacao sourced in Ecuador, Venezuelan, Vietnam and Madagascar. All these taste very different from each other. I loved being able to compare the different tones of fruitiness, bitterness and feel on the tongue. I can't wait to go back! This place will come in handy during the holidays as they offer to wrap your purchases and my people love the Nama collection. A must in Houston for sure!

Royce has been a forever favourite of mine, so when I heard they opened a shop in Houston (finally!) I was ecstatic. Chocolates are fantastic, as expected but staff is super courteous and go above and beyond. I had missed getting a seasonal edition of their nama chocolate (matcha fromage sea salt), and staff let me know that it might be possible for them to get it in a future shipment. Apart from that, the last time I was in store they had a new seasonal offering that I wanted to try before purchasing and they managed to open a fresh box for me to sample. I didn't end up getting it but i might soon.

Okay, so I honestly had no idea ROYCE came to Houston. Thank goodness they have Yelp events to bring stores to my awareness! Came back to get some Mother Day gifts for friends that have never had it! We have had certain items in Japan and really love it. It's just one of a kind! Since tomorrow is Mother's Day, the items came in a cute wrapped bag, which I really loved. We got the Royce Rum & Raisin Bar, Nama Chocolate "Milk Cacao," and the Royce Pure Chocolate Columbia Milk. They had a special going on and if you spent $50 bucks, you get the Nama Chocolate Champagne for free which was an awesome deal! Also, our friends loved it and killed the Royce Nama Chocolate quick! LOL! Again, we met Nino. He's dope, full of knowledge, kind & very welcoming. Store is super clean and neat. Absolutely will definitely continue to come back!

Great Yelp Experience! Located in Chinatown, ROYCE' is the perfect place to get a unique gift for friends or even yourself. I was given a tour of the store and allowed to try samples of some of their hit products. The staff were great in explaining the source of the chocolate and the quality that goes into these Japanese treats. I absolutely loved the matcha chocolates and I was told that if you bought one of their chocolate truffles up front, they would send you home with an ice pack to keep it temperature controlled. Most of their products seem to be priced between $20-$30 Thank you Jando and Yelp Team for this fun event!

First time trying Royce and the chocolate was so good. It melts in your mouth so yummy!!!! Their chocolate make great gifts. They also have chocolate covered chips which I didn't get a chance to try. A box of their chocolate will definitely be added to my gift bags. The staff was very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful from the moment I walked in. Definitely stop by if you are in the Bellaire area.

Amazing chocolate place in the area which came all the way from Hokkaido Japan! As you taste the raw chocolate it melts in your mouth like a magic! Very nice chocolate vibe and the service is great! Will definitely be back! I got a gift box for a friend who is leaving Houston soon! Great place for gifts! Come visit for those who love chocolate! Cheers

Came on a Saturday morning, very classy ambiance with great service. Got to try a free sample which was delicious got a bar of their black chocolate, big fan. Price point makes sense for luxury chocolate, a bit expensive for me to get regularly but would come for gifts or something

Came here for a yelp event and was able to sample a few different things but I bought myself some dark chocolate. I love good QUALITY dark chocolate and this one tasted heavenly, it came even with a ice pack to keep it from melting. Super bougee!

I first tried ROYCE' in Japan and loved it a lot. I was so excited to stop by here while I was in Houston. The cashier gives a few samples of their nama chocolates and talks a bit about ROYCE' behind the counter. They have a variety of flavors and percentages of cacao. I was concerned that the chocolate would melt if I brought it outside because it was very hot, but the chocolates come with an ice pack that lasts up to 3 hours, which is awesome! You can also get it gift-wrapped complimentary.

    Cheers!

What's the hype with ROYCE' Chocolate? I didn't know about this brand imported from Japan until I visited my family in California. My sister bought everyone in the family a package of Nama wrapped in silver envelop, with care. Gee. Someone is rich. That's $20 a pack. Then, she visited me in Houston. She bought a package. Nice. I was shocked how smooth that tiny bit of chocolate tastes. Man, it's too pricey for my salary to even get it for myself. I am glad it's already proportioned for sharing. Yeah. I am all about sharing with friends. Few months later, me and my friend Nina walked by as we just left a lunch party at Sterling Plaza. I thought it's time to update my experience with ROYCE' Chocolate. So, we walked in. Man, it smelled so good. The employees were so friendly. Am I in Houston Chinatown? I felt like I was in high-end department store. She gave us a quick tour of the chocolate variety they carry. "Would you like to try one?" Seriously? Am I in Chinatown? "Sure," we said. So, I came to validate the expensive one that my sister bought was made with fresh cream and all imported from Japan. There are many inexpensive ones. I bought a box of individually packaged dark chocolate 70% from Ecuador, Valenzuela, Vietnam and Madagascar. Package didn't need refrigeration. I shared the box with Nina afterwards. We also tried others. I sure will come back to buy some of those I tried.

Was so excited to see that they opened one in Houston, TX! Royce doesn't sell your average chocolate bar -- these are imported straight from Japan! The staff was highly informative and helped me pick out the perfect flavor for me. I decided to go with champagne which was $20. It's bitter at first but then it goes straight to sweetness and small hint of champagne flavor. The cocoa powder and milk chocolate combo really makes it melt in your mouth. These chocolate are to be kept in the fridge and shouldn't sit out for longer than 10 mins. Overall, highly recommend for everyone to at least try this high end chocolate at least once in their life!

My husband and I made the trek to Royce Chocolates over the weekend because I had heard great things about the nama chocolates. My favorite chocolates of all time are the small chocolates that they give you after dinner at Da Marco, and based on photos these seemed to fit the bill. There wasn't a lot of chocolate variety to choose from in the shop and admittedly no one offered to help us or tell us about the chocolates when we came in, but I knew what I wanted. We purchased a box of the bitter nama chocolate and they sent it home with us in a insulated package with a little baby ice pack. The chocolate itself is pretty great. It's not quuuuuuite as good as the little chocolates I love from Da Marco but they are pretty dang close!

When I stopped by on a weekday evening at 9pm it was packed. They had stations setup throughout the store to order different goods, which helped to alleviate the rush. Knafeh ($6) - They offered 2 types of knafeh, one with cheese and one with custard. I went with the one made with Nabulsi cheese and topped with shredded phyllo, and soaked in sugar syrup. It was warm, crispy and delicious! Karak tea ($5) - This milk tea drink was made with aromatic spices, primarily cardamom, cloves, ginger and cloves. I was happy to see they used whole milk instead of evaporated milk. The drink was incredibly rich and creamy and tasted great. Turkish delight ($18 / lb.) - This was extremely fresh, soft and chewy, made with cornstarch, sugar, nuts. Some of the varieties I tried had chocolate and/or fruits. The baklava here was fresh made with layers of phyllo dough, chopped nuts, and held together with some honey. The nut offerings here included, almonds, walnuts, peanuts and a few more. For example, with the Turkish delights and ice cream selections, only a few items are labeled. For most of them, you have to guess the flavor or ingredients. When I asked questions, there was a language barrier, and the staff member behind the counter was unable to clearly explain what the items were in English. This can be especially frustrating for customers with food allergies or dietary restrictions. In the U.S., I would expect all flavors and ingredients to be clearly labeled so customers can make informed choices. Even if staff members are not fluent in English, having accurate labels for flavors and ingredients would greatly improve the customer experience. The desserts themselves are excellent, but better product labeling would make the experience much more enjoyable and accessible for everyone.

The store front is very tiny, it could fit maybe 6 people fairly comfortably. They do have a speak easy space for their tastings, which is an interesting concept, which I'll touch on later. Effectively, they have different unique shapes of chocolate that are liquid filled with alcoholic and non-alcoholic liqueurs. Think licor 43, gin, bourbon, whiskey, tequila, etc. The chocolates themselves are good, there wasn't any that I disliked and I'd say the carajillo was one of my favorites. All that said, I think this can be hit or miss with some folks. I like them, whereas I can see how it has a bit of a flash in the pan type taste. It hits fast and then, that's it.Personally, I can get past that probably and could easily eat 10 in rapid fashion. Where this place loses my attention and where I struggle is the pricing. Value is always subjective and I'm sure some will find these to be well worth their price. For reference, I think it's 4 for $22, 8 for $34, when I recently visited. I just didn't find them to be worth that pricing model, particularly when there are other brands that you can get at a lower price and similar fillings. At the end of the day, I think this is worth it for an experience or date, particularly if you're going to go in for the tasting. Think, wine and cheese, in this case, cocktails and chocolates. It's $65 a person for the experience. Overall, I'm glad to see a boutique shop like this that's locally owned by a young, ambitious entrepreneur. My two cents, price lower and there is likely a higher amount of return customers for the chocolates, but I'll save you, the reader, the take on an entire business model diatribe here.
