Food is pretty good but you need a lot of time to go here. We went at 12:30p and they were 1/3 full maybe. It took awhile to get seated, then have someone get over to us, and it was 55 minutes before food came. I understand they might be short on staff to take orders etc but I didn't expect to wait almost an hour for sandwiches. Positive though: food was properly crispy - the fries were airy but crunchy and you couldn't see seasoning but they were delicious, and the bread on the roast beef sandwich was crispy with garlic butter and the perfect portion to completely fill up without leftovers. I'm glad I read the reviews to understand why they were wearing Ray's shirts at Roy's but it was confusing at first. GPS wanted us to only enter from route 96 and do a several block loop around the town but there's another entrance as well to keep an eye out for. read more

The food, service and ambiance is as Awesome as Rays of Canandaigua NY, and just like Ray's, they close by 2:00 pm. It seems to be a trending practice that a lot of diners in the Canandaigua, and the surrounding areas of throughout Ontario county, that if you're a privately owned restaurant, that they can only serve breakfast and lunch or lunch and dinner. Or sometimes all evening till 8:00 or 9:00, at night. Some of the restaurants once had serviced all three meals That makes me sad bc sometimes, essentially on the weekends, one might not be able to make it to a specific place, but attempted to get there only to find the restaurant closed. Stopped here for a late breakfast on our way to western NY since it's a quick hop off the I90 Thruway. It will now be our go to stop whenever we visit our daughter in Buffalo. The restaurant is cute and clean. We were seated right away and brought delicious coffee. The menu contained a wide variety of breakfast and lunch items with blackboard specials and desserts that also sounded so delicious. I ordered a vegetable omelette with sourdough toast and shredded hashbrowns. My husband had bacon, eggs, shredded hashbrowns and white toast. Sounds simple right? Well it happened to be one of the best breakfasts we ever had! To top it off, the service was fast and courteous. I requested that my omelette be made with egg whites only. 90% of the time that means a dry omelette but this was delicious. The filling was so plentiful and the egg whites cooked so that it was a fluffy, moist, very delicious omelette. Our toast came with a little pot of strawberry topping that tasted like summertime. We did not request that, it just came with it. And then there's the shredded crispy hashbrowns. They offer two types of hash browns..shredded or chunky. The shredded ones were done to perfection. My husband loves hashbrowns that are super crispy and these were! Not greasy either.. just perfect. We really enjoyed this breakfast stop and want to try it sometime for lunch. We watched the lunch platters go by and they looked phenomenal! Good job Roy's and kudos to the chef and staff! read more

This place is amazing. I ordered broiled haddock, and it far surpassed anything I was expecting. Perfectly seasoned with lemon pepper, and just the right amount of butter. What a delight! My new favorite place!! read more

We had breakfast this morning. I had the waffle with chocolate chips, a side of link sausages and sourdough toast. My wife had buttermilk biscuits w/ sausage gravy and a side of home fries & onions. The coffee was regular unflavored and we had OJ, both quite good. My huge waffle was excellent, the toast & sausage links also very good. My wife inhaled her meal and actually finished ahead of me, that never happens lol. Our server was attentive, checking on us several times throughout our meal. We both left stuffed and happy. Great for breakfast! Fun local vibe and friendly service. My eggs were cooked perfectly and the home fries were really good. Also tried the French toast, which was excellent. We went on a packed Sunday morning and had a little bit of a wait. We were seated shortly after and were greeted by our fantastic waiter Eric. The food took a little bit, but once we got it it was delicious! I got the Macy's omelette, and I have no complaints. What really impressed me was that everything was made in-house. My wife got biscuits with sausage gravy and it was great; a little much in the Parmesan cheese for my taste but very good. I got cinnamon rolls and eggs with sausage which were great. Even the jam was homemade. Not great presentation and not everything was perfect but everything being made in-house is very unique nowadays and makes up for what probably should be a 4 star place. Initially upon opening very good with great coffee. Took a small group for a meeting a few months ago and the coffee was not good at all. Chocked it up to a bad coffee day. Returned last week with a friend, paid $2.75 for a cup of dirty water labeled coffee that I couldn't force myself to finish. Avoid this place ! We ordered a Rueben sandwich with fries and a bowl of French onion soup. It was about 3 o'clock on a Friday afternoon and the place had no one in it. My Rueben was awful. You had to hunt for the pastrami literally, and it was a few chunks of meat, not slices like every other Rueben is made with, and the few chunks were filled with fat. There was no sauerkraut on it either. TERRIBLE!!! The French onion soup was covered with blackened burnt cheese. This place just opened and doesn't seemed destined for longevity. I will say our server was a energetic young man and did his best. To him I would say run away from this place and find another restaurant where your talents would compliment the food, you're better than this place ! read more

just stopped of the NYS 90 to get a bite to eat. Roy's, Ray's Brother was very near the Manchester exit (2 minutes) and had good reviews on YELP. They weren't lying. My sister had hot beef and gravy w fries...gravy tasty, not salty, beef tender, fries crisp. Tom had turkey BLT with fries....sandwich was more than a mouthful! came with a boatload of fries! When my husband can't finish every last bite of food you know it was a very large helping. Tomatoes were ripe, red, lettuce crisp, too much to finish! I had the patty melt with their homemade macaroni salad. DELICIOUS! Julie was our waitress, cheerful, talkative but not too much, attentive. We learned that Ray has a restaurant in Canandaguia on 332. We will definitely eat here again and will try Rays too! Thumbs up and five stars from me! read more

I've never had Ray's, but his brother Roy doesn't know how to run a business. I've tried it twice now, and been disappointed both times. The only good thing about it is that you get your food fast, but that doesn't make up for the food. First I'll start with the breakfast. I got an omelet with homefries and toast. The toast was toast, you can't mess that up. The homefries were bland and had zero flavor, and same with the omelet. The waitress wasn't too attentive to us the first and second time, and we got the same one both times. They had no selection with the jelly spread, only strawberry. The coffee was hazelnut. News flash, not everyone likes hazelnut. This time, I got a fish fry. They only offer beer bartered fish. I personally like beer battered, but they should offer broiled, and regular fried fish. They don't offer mash potatoes for a side, but they got onion rings. Kinda strange, but whatever. The coleslaw tastes way too sour, and was just not edible for me. The fish was bland and lacked flavor as well. I got fries with it, and the fries were decent. But the waitress didn't offer me a refill on my drink nor ask how the food was. Overall, this place is a disaster and I really don't recommend trying it at all. You're better off going to Park Place, or any other place for food. The only thing I can be happy about is the portioning of the food, and the quickness. That's all they got going for them. Everything else is complete garbage. I'm not a picky eater and I try to give everything benefit of the doubt, especially with covid. But this is unexceptional. read more
