If you are into small, family-owned, no bells and whistles breakfast diner (that serves more than just breakfast), make your way to Durf's. We were in the area for hockey for a quick weekend, and we went here twice because the food was so good, the staff was so friendly, and the overall experience was warm. Each time, we got a very standard breakfast: eggs over easy, bacon or sausage, toast and grilled hashbrowns. Just spot on each time. Nothing fancy, and that is exactly what we wanted. Prices are very reasonable, and the parking was easy. If you go when they have their homemade raspberry jam, do not pass this up. I repeat - do not pass that up to get a little container of it to spread on your already-buttered toast. If we are ever in the Rochester area again, Durf's is a DEFINITE! read more

Very small diner hidden away and you would definitely not know it was there unless you were looking for it! I had some nice coffee along with some pretty decent home fries eggs toast pancakes and an awesome waffle special. The waffle special was with a wild berry topping I think it was kind of like a raspberry blackberry mix and it was awesome! The waffle was a great combination of chewy and crunchy and the pancakes had chocolate chips in them as well as sprinkled on top! Best part of it was the bill! I ordered a few sides (bacon & strawberries) so I can't really elaborate too much on my meal - both tasted good though! Our server always had my coffee cup filled and was so sweet. We tried Durf's for breakfast for the first time this morning, and we will be going back... often! I had the LA cinnamon bread, and my fiancé had the homemade corned beef hash. Both were delicious! This is truly a family restaurant. Three siblings run it now. Sister, Kathy, was out front (taking orders, and making sure folks were satisfied). Two brothers and a niece were in the back preparing meals. Other family members were there as well, and it seemed like the workers who were not related by blood felt like family. read more

I love to support local business so we headed here on a Sunday morning. If you haven't been it's kind of tucked back from the road behind a gas station. Staff is super friendly & if you have to wait they ask you to sit in your car & they will call you when your table is ready. Tables are spaced out & they sanitize all the menus. Our table had 4 people & we ordered a variety of food. Homemade corned beef has which was decent & came out nice & hot. It comes with eggs & toast. They also do offer canned corned beef hash for less money. I ordered the avocado toast which comes with home fries & eggs. The best part of my meal was the toast, the avocado smashed didn't have much flavor & had a few tiny pieces of tomato in it. The eggs had a weird texture. The full stack of chocolate chip pancakes is 3 & they were average pancakes I could have made at home. Husband had an omelette which he said had no flavor even with meat, cheese & vegetables. His eggs also had a strange texture. Coffee was decent & your cup was always full. Their homemade raspberry jam is very good. All in all it was great staff, ok food & we were glad we were supporting a local business but I will probably not be back anytime soon. read more

Durfs is tucked behind another store, a hidden gem. I heard of this place because my cousin who lives blocks from here recommended it. The food is pretty good. A much more homey and affordable version if Denny's and IHOP. There is limited parking outside. A family style breakfast, brunch, and dinner spot. The chairs and tables aren't the most comfortable, but the waitress did make an effort to keep the table clean. I got the rubbish plate with a cheese burger. I got it with yellow mustard ketchup, relish, onions, macaroni salad. Everything except for hot sauce. (Recommended to me by my cousin) Gotta eat like a local, right? Glad it was available for breakfast because thst filled me up for our 5 hour drive! The macaroni salad was a little too sour for me that early in the morning. There are really good breakfast deals written on papers stuck on the walls. Go for those! The waffles and pancakes are very fluffy. They typically come with something carby, eggs, and either sausage link or patty. My dad really enjoyed the coffee. He even got a cup to go after drinking 4 cups there. read more

The restaurant, as other reviews note, is set back from the main drag. You won't notice it if you're just driving by; you have to be actively looking for it. Once you get inside, it is like stepping back into time. This is not a fancy-shmantzy glitzy restaurant. Rather, it is a restaurant that celebrates what it is, the interior neat and full of bonhomie. Not being a Fairport local, nevertheless, I always feel welcome @ Durf's. Whenever the Duchess and I dine here, we're in the thick of the locals, almost bumping elbows. We dig Durf's specialties, especially the housemade raspberry jam and their signature corned beef hash. Came here on a Saturday morning and waited for 30 minutes for a table. It's a local favorite so you have to be patient. Once we were seated we asked about the homemade jam. Our waitress brought us a small tasting with crackers while we waited for our order. We sat in the back room at a small table for two, but while we were waiting I noticed another waitress going table to table to check if anyone needed anything. The hostess did her best to seat people as quickly as possible, but it's clear that they are understaffed. (Heard a comment from the kitchen that they were out of clean spoons, lol) Then the food, I ordered the Fresh peach shortcake French toast with a side of a sunny side up fried egg and my bf ordered the Fresh spinach, bacon . . . Omelette that is at the top of the menu board. Then the food came, and it was delish!! Inhaled my fried egg and French toast quickly. My bf almost ate his whole omelette and part of my French toast. We are from CA and I'm BIG on trying family owned spots. Well Durf's didn't disappoint. We had the clam chowder, grilled chicken sandwich, French toast, avocado toast and breakfast sandwich. It was all fresh and delicious. We came across a local who recommended this spot and I'm glad we tried it. I know one of the employees mentioned they aren't big on Yelp but I am. He said they like being a kept secret and aren't into that sort of thing but I want to discover what locals enjoy. The service was pretty speedy and our server was nice. When my companion and I arrived we came between 10-11, not being a huge breakfast person, I decided to order soup, while my companion ate "his regular" at this location- which is a loaded baked potato omelette with a side of home-fries and 2-slices of Texas toasted with their homemade raspberry jam. The jam is delicious and available for purchase. I have to say upfront that my companion is a "regular" here and always praises this location - so of course his dish was "phenomenal"! I had a cup of their Italian sausage bow tie soup and ordered two slices of Texas toast -which the waitress took as two side orders of toast...so I ended up with four slices! A lot of Texas toast...I felt bad leaving two slices not eaten, but toast really isn't something you can take home....the soup was flavorful and good, could have been a little hotter, seemed like maybe it was heated up in the microwave- that patchy heat, some places warm, then hot, then cold.
