I was greeted and given paperwork to fill out. Within minutes of handing it in I was called in. I sat with Maria and she took my blood pressure (yep, they take your blood pressure there. How awesome is that?!) and x-rays. We discussed the condition of my teeth. Then, Dr. Millan came in and he looked over all the X-rays and my teeth. He discussed the treatment he'd like to proceed with. Sidenote: Dr. Millan is super likable. After talking to the dentist, Nicole came in and we talked about insurance coverage and what wasn't covered. If you don't have the money upfront , they do take CareCredit (you can get 6-12 months interest free). This is my second appointment there actually May 3. It was recommended that I need to come back for a deep cleaning three months after my regular cleaning and as much anxiety as I have, and as hard as it is for me, I went ahead and came back during my second appointment. It was explained to me that all of the procedure procedures that they want to do would end up resulting in about $2000. There were a lot of things there that I didn't feel were necessary and would take off of that total bill like replacing my old feelings. Anyways, I show up to my appointment today. The hygienist is as kind as can be, and really trying to help me deal with my anxiety. All went well at the end she applied some kind of medication that she said I couldn't floss my teeth for a few days. All is well I go to pay and my bill is almost $1000. My jaw dropped to the floor I have never in my life paid $1000 for a cleaning. The first response from the attendant was that I signed for this when I was lost at the office three months ago. I said excuse me, but it was never mentioned to me that my next appointment would be $1000. What if I was in a position where I couldn't pay for this right now this is completely unfair. The right thing to have done would have been to discuss his financials with me when I arrived and gone over any Part of it that was considered optional and not covered by the insurance. Apparently the medication that they applied at the end is what skyrocketed the bill but at no point was just explained to me or discussed with me prior to the process which I feel is very unprofessional and sneaky. I have completely lost trust and I will never be going back to this place. I do recommend them for their services and their staff, but make sure you are on top of your visit before committing to anything make sure that prices are clear to you upfront prior to having a procedure because this was very deceitful and not what I expect from a provider that is supposed to be caring and looking after my best interest. Dr. Mufson's hands shook badly during the procedure and before I could stop him, he broke my tooth and I swallowed the broken pieces. He gave no apology and his assistant, Loretta, who is also his wife, hustled me to the desk to immediately pay. I was stunned. I tried disputing his charges on my credit catd but got nowhere. I found out afterwards from an aquaintance of mine that Dr. Richard Mufson left a piece of bone in her mouth causing her an emergency visit to Jackson Memorial Hospital. Do not use this oral surgeon under any circumstances. This money hungry dentist also took CT scans and x-rays that I just had done a few days before to grab more money from me with no dental insurance (I didn't need the additional dangerous radiation either). Don't believe those old 5 star reviews. This older man's hands shake terribly. He needs to immefiately retire.
