In fairness to RPC, I recognize that my experience with them seems to be an outlier according to other reviews that I've read here. Also, I will start by mentioning a few positives about them; they work neatlyand the receptiontist, Leigh, has a pleasant manner . BUT that is where my kind words will abruptly end.
I caledl RPC to do a very common job; rewiring a kitchen after a wall that housed a few receptacles was taken down and new cabinets were about to be installed. To make this straightforward job even easier, the sheet rock was off all of the walls and the floor, which was being replaced, was removed down to the joists giving easy unobstructed access to all the kitchen wiring.
I called RPC in July. The job was not completed until November and only then as a result of my having finally run out of patience.
RPC sent an electrician, Dan, to "begin" the job. To this day, I am not sure exactly what was done on that initial visit besides sorting out the wires, but I was charged $1,900 and told that I would have to wait until the cabinets were installed before the job could be completed and inspected. Fast forward to two weeks ago when Dan came by to "finish" the job. On that morning, he hooked up some wires to the breaker box, put in four or five outlets and told me that I owed an additional $520. The problem is that after Dan reconfigured the breakers, my electric hot water, which had been working perfectly since I put it in 15 years ago, began continuously tripping its breaker so that I was left without hot water. Dan told me that the sudden failure of my water heater was "unrelated" to any work that he had just performed. He suggested that I may have needed an addtional breaker box, an idea that seemed absurd to me since I was then using LESS electricity than before the project began.
I called the main office and demanded that someone come by to look at the problem. I got nowhere with them. IT WAS NOT A PROBLEM OF THEIR MAKING they lucicrously claimed.
At my wits end, I dashed off a draft copy of what you are now reading and emailed it to them with the warning that I would share it widely on social media if RPC didn't get an electrician to my house at once to fix the issue. (Mind you, my wife who suffers from Parkinson's Disease, was extremely aggitated at not having any hot water for over a week.)
It worked. Within 30 minutes Ray, the owner, was at my door with a helper. After about a half hour of trouble shooting, they discovered that very simple cause of the problem: one of the breakers was only partically screwed into place. A few turns of the screw driver and voila, everything back to normal.
I was grateful and told Ray that I would refrain from publishing this review. BUT just before he left, Ray had the audacity to say, "I'm still not sure that this was our fault". To suggest that the improperly installed breaker simply loosened itself after 25 years of working fine and the fact that Dan had been moving breakers around on that box was insulting. Morever, attempting to dodge responsilibility for one's own mistake is not the mark of a true craftsman or good businessman.
Throughout this process, RPC was extremely difficult to communicate with. I was told repeatedly that they had other priorties before they could get to me. Apparently, they were extremely overbooked.
So the bottom line is this: I paid RPC their high prices and had nothing but delays, headaches and a huge inconveniences.
