We did use RPM mortage as our lender when we bought our house in 2017. They came recommended from our friends. The mortage process was lenghty and very complicated for us. As first time buyers in the US, we did not know what to expect. Since then we have had 2 attemps to Re-Fi and both times have failed due to false promises and lack of communication. We have been trying to contact them for weeks without a reply. Nicole Francis has not been available and does not return our calls even priomised by her staff. She was the reason we chose RPM, because she convinced us the Re-Fi could be done in matter of weeks and how they would give us the time and attention needed. This was in November last year. We are in end of April now. Don't waste your time with them. read more

Had a great experience with Jonathan Pass and Lisa Van Court on our home purchase in 2016 and refinance in 2020. The most impressive thing is their response time -- I consistently got replies to any questions within 30 minutes, within business hours or not. That's pretty amazing and it enabled us to lock in a great rate when timing mattered. I did look at rates available at internet lenders, and they were able to beat the rates and with better service. Jonathan made sure he understood our objectives and advised us how to meet them and what was realistic. He was able to think creatively when some income wasn't able to be considered, in order to make our first home purchase go through on time. We would definitely prefer to work with them in the future. I had an okay experience with RPM nearly 20-years ago. Now, I cannot get them to stop calling me and emailing me. I have received 30-40 emails, many phone calls, and regular snail mail from them despite, on multiple occasions, requested that they do not contact me anymore. This is excessive. I suppose the positive side is that if you do business with them one time you will never have to worry about not getting email, phone calls, and mail. But if you find getting 3-4 contacts a month even after asking them to stop multiple times annoying, then best go somewhere else. read more

Great buying experience, pleasant people, no issues at all. Very fast communications and friendly, personable staff. One hiccup last year, where they thought I had stopped paying condo insurance, which I keep current. they sent me to a random 3rd party to provide proof that my insurance was still in effect. A little odd, but nothing big. Problems started last week, I was sent a letter saying my mtg was being sold from RPM to Specialized Loan Servicing, which doesn't appear to have a good track record of customer service. This is about 3 years into my mtg. I'm sure this happens all the time and my loan is probably being sold in a larger transaction, but this is such a hassle for me. Due to this, I cannot recommend RPM Mortgage to my friends, family, or colleagues. If I had known that RPM would just sell my loan to someone else and treat me like this I would have avoided them from the get go. read more

Run, run as far away and as fast as you can! This group completely screwed up (I should be using much stronger language) a transaction we were involved in. Their gross negligence and ineptitude caused us to close a week late. This cost us hundreds in interest and taxes and almost kept another transaction from even happening. I understand things happen in this industry and delays will occur - however these were not common delays. They messed up simple paper work, documents, and other details that would set us back each time. The people at this particular branch should be fired for what they did. After the transaction closed we asked them to cover the few hundred dollars we incurred from THEIR mistakes. We were given a big fat NO without any regard to the harm they caused us. George was able to help us through the pre-approval process so that we were as prepared as possible to "act fast" when we were ready to make an offer - this wound up being extremely helpful given the very competitive East Bay market. George checked-in with us regularly during our 12-month home search without being overbearing. We had a lot of "first-timer" questions, and George was responsive and patient, always returning emails and phone calls within 24 hours. Once we were in contract, George went above and beyond to accommodate a 17-day loan contingency removal requirement, which also overlapped with Thanksgiving. After we closed my first loan in which he made me pay fees to him in addition to fees the bank he was transferring my loan to, he immediately asked me to refinance, only to pay him more fees. This review is specifically of Kevin Kennedy (not his team, but the mortgage broker, himself). When we found out that we had the winning bid on a house we had visited not long ago, we were very excited. We knew it would be a stressful time but thought that RPM, with its reputation, would take care of us. However, on his initial call with us, Kevin kept pushing for us to lock in at the higher interest rate without even taking the time to walk us through the different rates and credits/points options. We're first time home-buyers and it made us feel very uncomfortable. We then decided to talk to two other lenders to get a comparison, both of whom gave a MUCH more competitive rate and better customer service than he did. After crunching the numbers, we decided to move forward with a different lender. When I called to let Kevin know, he initially was very courteous, even offering to help pick things up if our lender were to stumble. I told him I appreciated his kindness and said goodbye...Before I could hang up, though, things turned sour (though he claimed he wasn't being a sour grape). He proceeded to tell me that I was making one of the BIGGEST mistakes of my life. Even if he were to swoop in later (to save us from our lender) he's not even sure if the listing agent would allow him to do that. Actually, he knows that for a fact. My thought reaction: "WTF?? If that is the case, why would you, a minute ago, make the offer to pick things up were they to go south? Why would you talk to a (potential) client like that?" Talk about a sore loser. We later spoke with a few other folks who had interacted with Kevin, all of whom claimed to have had a similar experience. After 15 years in the business, this man does not understand the meaning of customer service. He is on par with a car salesman who really couldn't care less about you and is only there to serve his own purpose by pressuring you into buying the vehicle; then when you decide to walk because you just can't afford his price, proceeds to make you feel like crap. I would never recommend Kevin to anyone. read more

They were FANTASTIC every step of the way. Competent, responsive, pleasant, calm, efficient...they got it done. Really have nothing but good things to say about Kevin and his team. We used them for the first time four years ago when we bought our home--a fixer property--after our initial financing fell through. Because of some issues with the property, our deal was a bit more convoluted than a typical transaction, and our original mortgage brokers just didn't seem able to get the deal done. RPM did, and they did it on time, with great communication, and no issues along the way. We used them again to refinance our loan after two years, and the process was again very smooth. Obtaining a mortgage is a stressful and invasive process, but I have found the team at RPM to be very organized, competent and experienced. I would use them again in a heartbeat. I should add that they did turn around and sell our loan both times that we used them, each within a few months of closing. The first time our loan was purchased by Chase, which I was happy with. After our refinance, our loan was sold to Freedom Mortgage, which I was less thrilled about (although we haven't had any issues yet). However, continuity in the loan holder wasn't of particular importance to me, so it didn't affect my overall opinion of RPM and their mortgage broker services. read more

As a first time buyer I had a lot of questions about the loan process, and Sue Carlson at RPM was always patient and friendly in explaining what I needed to know. Sue was recommended to us by our realtor, who mentioned the he had never had any problems working with her (unlike, say, some of the big banks like Chase and Wells Fargo) and indeed this was true. She made sure we had all our paperwork lined up in the beginning for the pre-approval process, advised us on risks we were taking with some non-contingent offers and kept the ball rolling once we were in escrow. In the end our loan went through without a hitch and we're now homeowners thanks in part to Sue's very significant role. We're happy and grateful for the services she provided and feel good knowing that she'll be able to answer our questions in the future too! read more

We have used Linda Zaiss at RPM for refinancing on several occasions, and have been amazingly pelased each time. They have an incredibly smooth, efficient and painless process. Linda and her team are great in communicating each of the necessary steps along the way, and the RPM web-site is incredibly easy to negotiate and to upload documents. Unfortunately, I had to deal with both Chase and (ugh!) Wells Fargo in refinancing activities that became time and money wasting debacles, and the contast between RPM and these big-banks is amazing. George Moody was referred to us when my husband and I decided to refinance our home (had to take advantage of those lower interest rates!). We actually got in touch with George in March of 2013 however we decided that since we were going the refi route that we should do some home improvements first. I have to say, George has the patience of a saint! During the 15 months** from initial contact to when we were finally ready to move forward George kept in contact with us. He has amazing response time to both emails and voicemails (although it was rare to leave a voicemail - he was always readily available). We had a lot of questions and held our hands through the whole process. Once we were ready to move on the refi he watched the interest rates like a hawk and got locked us into a lower rate than we thought possible! When we finally got to doc signing he actually made a trip out to our home (in Pittsburg no less) to be there for the signing in case we had any questions or issues. Overall, outstanding customer service! I am already looking forward to working again with George when we decide to sell our home in the future. **Just to clarify - those 15 months were due to us doing improvements. I recently received a letter and pay out notifying me that RMP illegally had given me a higher interest rate than I should have received so that my broker Kevin Kennedy could pocket the difference. The settlement covers what I should not have had to pay in interest last year, about $1200 less. For a 30 yr fixed mortgage that is a lot of additional money over the lifetime of the loan. I am extremely disappointed in the ethics of RPM, Kevin Kennedy and his team for doing this. The settlement will surely make my taxes more complicated next year and I obviously will be looking to refinance again to give my business to more deserving people. Hopefully I can still find a comparable rate, as they were lower last year. I really expected better of them, they knew I was a single mother and pediatric nurse. What kind of low life behaves this way? I strongly urge caution against using this company as I am confident that all the brokers were aware of what they were doing. The lawsuit started with leaked emails about brokers actually bragging about locking people into higher interest rates. read more
