The smell, the poor staffing, bad food, and no 'licensed' care givers continued to get worse. Divine intervention arrived and my sisters condition bumped her up to a level where skilled nursing was necessary. Salinas Memorial transfered her to Eden Valley Care center even farther away from family. The difference was extraordinary. The staff are trained, care giver to patient ratio is above state requirements. There are cleaning staff and laundry staff so that the CNAs are free for patient care. There are LVNs and RNs in house. The food is tasty and a good balance of nutrition, and there are physicians, social services, and specialized services available within a short period of time. No waiting months if the patient needs to be seen. The environment is cheerful and there are caregivers taking pts. outside to the garden or sitting for a visit in with a pt. in the open areas. The young men and women are compassionate, attentive, and response time to a call button is within minutes. Thankfully my sister is now recieving the excellent care she deserves. Having endured the other "assisted living" place in Salinas, which was heart breaking, gave us the comparison and appreciation of what we now have.

Staff provide erroneous information and later confirm they are not in the position to provide such information. They don't want to hear or address what is in question and turn things around to seem like your complaining for no reason, when in fact they know they're providing poor service and giving misinformation. Initial visit we were told to return the following business day to speak with the Chiropractic , they were adamant a parent needed to be present (no alternative guardian recommended) for an explanation of the diagnosis and a treatment plan. Second visit was a quick adjustment with no explanation just come back again! Only received the diagnosis and treatment plan at a subsequent office visit (mind you each time there is an expense incurred) because I called to express my disappointment. Would not recommend this place to anyone!

On my very last day of therapy Anna informed me she was facing a really scary issue in her life and would be doing a bit of traveling. I was devastated and scared to death to her. I never saw Anna again after that day. And then I left town. I stopped by her home twice but she was never there. I never got to say thank you for fixing me the way no other therapy or doctor could. I was trying to schedule physical therapy for my uncle following his upcoming full knee replacement surgery on May 22. His referral was sent from Stanford on May 5, and after hearing nothing from the office, I spent days calling, leaving messages, and trying to follow up with no return calls. When I finally got someone on the phone, I was told they never received the referral fax. I contacted Stanford and had the referral resent the same day. After trying to call back later to confirm receipt, no one answered, and again my message was not returned. Today I called again and was told they still had not received the newly sent fax, but somehow the original referral from May 5 was found in their "junk mail," which was confusing since it was faxed over. After all of this back and forth, I was then told there was no appointment availability until the end of June, even though my uncle is supposed to begin physical therapy next week after surgery. This experience was extremely frustrating and stressful, especially when trying to coordinate important post-surgical care for a family member. Because of the delays, lack of communication, and scheduling limitations, I now have to take my uncle to another physical therapy office in Gilroy, which is inconvenient since I live in Hollister, have a young child, and am helping care for my uncle. I understand offices can be busy, but better communication, follow-up, and scheduling support would make a huge difference for patients trying to arrange time-sensitive care.
