I was lucky enough to get an appointment rather quickly with Dr. Halamendaris. Within 5 minutes of meeting him, and his review of my most recent MRI, he opined that I can continue to do the things I am trying to make work, but nothing will "fix" me without surgery. I said let's do it. Surgery was done 3 weeks later and I woke up from surgery and have been 100% pain free from that day. I am so appreciative of Dr. Halamendaris and the outcome of this surgery. I cannot recommend him strongly enough.

Since the beginning of this year, I have been trying to schedule an appointment. Instead of helping me move forward, the assistant told me that Dr. Holamandara would not see me until I had an MRI. She instructed me to ask my primary care physician to order it. That made no sense because the specialist is the one requesting the MRI and should be responsible for providing the appropriate referral or coordinating the necessary steps. Because I had previously seen Dr. Pativanda for the same condition, I was then told that they would contact Dr. Pativanda's office to request the MRI referral. That was over four months ago. Since then, I have called both offices every couple of weeks asking for an update. Dr. Holamandara's office and Dr. Pativanda's office are located directly across from each other in the same building, yet no one seems able to communicate or provide answers. Neither office has followed up with me, returned my calls with a solution, or taken ownership of resolving the issue. The lack of communication, coordination, and accountability has delayed my medical care for months. As a patient, I should not have to spend months chasing down referrals and repeatedly calling multiple offices just to get a simple answer. Patients deserve timely communication, clear guidance, and staff who are willing to help instead of passing responsibility to someone else. I hope this office improves its patient care and communication because no one seeking medical treatment should have to go through this experience.

Thank you to all of you, and also the 2 new nurses introduced to me in the operating room as I was saying hello while succumbing to the anesthesia. I remember laughing to myself as they wheeled me down the hall, and saying I felt like a famous formula 1 driver and they were my superstar pit crew! Thanks again for making a surgery day go smooth and without fear.

They know how to help you relax and have a little fun before and after the procedures. I've had four different surgeons. They were all top notch. The facility is clean, busy and full of people who care and try to make your procedure as smooth as possible. I rather enjoyed the chatter amongst the staff. It showed me that they enjoyed their job and their co-workers. It was a true team experience. I highly recommend any of their Monterey facilities.

My Mom stumbled out of a van and broke her wrist a couple of weeks ago, It was fortunately a pretty clean break, but she is in her 80s. I went with her on a follow-up appointment where she had her first cast removed, the break Flouroscoped (similar to XRays) and a new cast put on. Dr. Satow did all of this himself, with a great gentle manner and attentive care, while talking to me about the World Cup results at the same time. He put on a lighter cast and she will go back in a few weeks to remove that and get a sling. His office has tickets and sports memorabilia on the walls and he loves competitive sports, despite his professional appearance and soft manner. Dr. Satow graduated from UCSF, is Japanese American and has a lot of ties to the local Japanese American community.

After being told by 2 different doctors that they needed an MRI to verify the injury before they could do anything, Dr. Lin performed an ultrasound of my knee and saw right away what the problem was. He seemed frustrated that it had taken 2 weeks for me to get the problem officially diagnosed, as my injury needed surgery to be performed pretty quickly. He didn't want to waste any time and got me scheduled for surgery 5 days later. The work he did was phenomenal...only a 2 1/2 inch incision and minimal pain during recovery. I'm 14 weeks post op now and almost back to full range of motion in my knee. Nothing but good things to say about this man. Positive experience all around.

Where to begin? My husband was involved in a motorcycle accident {due to some idiot running a…read morestop sign) and the ER surgeon told him he'd need surgery. At the pre-surgery consultation, the ER Dr, said he wasn't sure how to fix the "bad break" to his wrist but would try screwing an exterior metal bar down his arm at two locations and casting for 6 weeks and "see if that works". He also wasn't sure what kind of hardware he'd be able to use and would have to figure that out. WHAT? Sounded pretty archaic, and, if it didn't work then we'd be back to square one. Having had a wonderful experience for a different issue at Monterey Spine and Joint, I called them and was able to schedule an appointment for my husband to see Dr. James Lin in a couple of days. We went in, Dr. Lin looked over the MRI from the ER and said he could fix it. When asked about the hardware, he whipped out his phone and pulled up an image of what he'd be using. When asked what his level of experience was with this type of injury, he said "Let me put it this way, if you'd seen any other doctor in Monterey County, they'd send you to me." SOLD! Confident minus the cockiness. Dr. Lin performed the surgery two days later at the Monterey Surgery Center (Which is another great review) and personally came out to the waiting room to speak to me when he was done (other doctors sent nurses to speak to other loved ones), which I was grateful for. My husband only needed to use painkillers once then the occasional Ibuprofen. Ten days later and all was looking good enough to start hand therapy. They don't have a hand therapist at MS&J so Dr. Lin referred him to Terrapin, also at Ryan Ranch. The therapist there (Lisa) had a great relationship with Dr. Lin's patients and could email or call him directly if anything came up, which was great and showed a team approach in my husband's healing. Dr. Lin was great with all follow ups and we never had to wait long in the office or get more X-rays than absolutely needed. He and his staff were great, always smiling and warm and tolerant of our sense of humor. Fast forward 6 months and am grateful to say my husband is healed, and we're happy to say that choosing Dr. Lin was the BEST decision we could have made throughout my husband's road to recovery.
