We bought a baby rabbit a few months ago - supposed to be a dwarf lop but hes definately not dwarf and his ears tell me hes not a lop either but we love him and hes gorgeous. The animals look healthy considering they are under bright lights all day and have lots of different people staring at them and banging on the glass. We haven't had much luck with fish bought from there and prefer to go elsewhere. They have a good selection of wild bird feeders, nuts etc as well as fancy accessories for your pets if you are looking for a Christmas present for your pets.

Without their help in putting him back together, he would be pushing up the daisies or suffering an uncomfortable decline now, so they get the thumbs up from me. The vets are good with other procedures also: the dog's had a pair of replacement cruciate ligaments, which were not cheap, especially when one played up a short while after the op and had to be tightened a little further. But again, they have given the old boy a really amazing quality of life at his age and with the miles he has under his collar, so hats off to them for all their help. Jollyes is easy to navigate and stocks a lot of products. The staff are helpful and the store provide a vet service every Wednesday, so if you visit then you'll see a queue of dogs and cats waiting to get their shots. You can purchase fish and live insects in store, as well as food and products for most pets, even horses, chickens and reptiles. My main downside to Jollyes is one particular product they sell; the cotton style nesting material. Not a lot of pet owners or even staff in pet stores are aware of the dangers and I've personally learned the hard way. Until a few months ago I was buying bog standard cheap cat litter with my usual weekly shop but one…read moreweek I was at Pets at Home picking up some cat food for one of my cats anyway and I was running out of litter at home so I picked up Pets at Home's own brand non clumping wooden pellet litter, a huge 30 litre sack for about £7. It's so good! It lasts a lot longer than supermarket own brand litter, and actually works out cheaper. The only problems are, it takes up quite a lot of room in the kitchen and the cats like to scratch at the bag! Our cats are registered with the vets in here and while the treatment costs aren't as cheap as elsewhere I don't think, the veterinary staff are very knowledgeable and it's easy to get in and out of with the cats when you're taking them in for their vaccinations (although their constant miaowing doesn't half echo round the store!) As someone else mentioned, the small furry animals section is a real draw, especially when you have a little toddler!

My cat Spencer broke his leg a couple of years ago quite badly and they did all they could to help but they referred me to a specialist as they felt he needed better treatment but I was glad they were honest and not greedy enough to treat him there meaning he might have had problems when he was older. They have a great mural on the wall of animals; all the vets and nurses are friendly. I have been told by my friends that they are cheaper vets in Bedford but it's the quality of care I experience here that keeps me as a customer, the only thing is that you never seem to see the same vet twice.

After a few visits to the vets with both of my dogs and not really happy with the level of service, then by chance passing Barton Lodge in the car, I decided to give it a try the next time one of my dogs was ill, and Im so pleased I did. They will definitely have me as a returning pet owner whilst living in this area which will probably be for a long time yet.

Staff at the practice are always friendly and polite and very caring for the animals they treat. The vets gave great advice about our pet's diet and general care. Their annual reminders about booster vaccinations were extremely helpful this is such an easy thing to overlook when you are busy working. We also were very pleased that they gave our cat an annual health check and I'm sure this is what kept her fit and well and a super pet for 16 years. When she eventually became terminally ill with cancer at the age of 17 one of the vets, the owner, sensitively gave us the prognosis and we were able to decide when the time had come to say goodbye to our pet. This was handled with great sensitivity for which we were very grateful. We will definitely continue to use Barton Lodge their service and expertise is second to none and we have great confidence in them.
