Each instructor takes the time to correct, and the focus is less on speed and more on holding the pose. While each teacher's style varies (some focus on sequences, others don't) I always walk away feeling that light headed, wobbly muscle yoga feeling. The Pilates practiced at Balance is "Power Pilates" which I've learned is a classic form. I've taken both reformer and mat, and both are great workouts. Last is Pilates Total Fitness. All I have to say is these classes, especially the one with Jane, will make you weep..but in a good way, I promise!

CP charged me over $200 in a month even though I only ever took 2 classes ($35 each). They just kept charging my card. I emailed the silver spring location and the corporate office multiple times but they refused to refund the extra charges and even added a "late fee"!! They either didn't respond at all or would dismiss me and try to justify the charges (why would any business justify charging a customer$200 for a $35 single class???) I've never in my life witnessed a business turn away new customers like this. Horrible customer service and I'm still filing didoes with my credit card company.

I chose to begin pilates as a way to strengthen my core muscles and get back to normal. Emily is an excellent instructor. She tailors the sessions based on one's condition and needs. Her attention to detail is incredible. During any instructed exercise, she pays attention to every body angle and muscle group activity. She continues to instruct the correct posture and muscle engagement to gain the optimum result from that exercise. I've found my sessions with her very productive. I'm feeling much better now and anticipate to build up a routine that will maintain my good health and core muscle strength in a short while.

False Advertising and Shady Policies - Stay Away!…read more I am extremely disappointed with Pure Barre. Their website is completely misleading. They advertise "no commitment - Cancellation will be effective at the end of the current period for which you have paid" and make it seem like you can cancel anytime--this is NOT true. Once you sign up, you find out there is actually a 30-day cancellation period, which is nowhere clearly stated during sign-up. This is blatant false advertising and completely dishonest. When I reached out to cancel, I was told I had to continue paying for another full month, even though I no longer wanted the service. It feels like a scam designed to trap people into paying more. I expected better from a fitness brand that claims to empower people. Instead, I felt tricked and taken advantage of. If you value honesty and transparency, do yourself a favor and avoid this location.
