Beware - We had a horrendous experience at All About Animals Pet Clinic in Mahomet and will never…read morereturn. I made an appointment at AAA only because Creature Comforts (which we trusted with our pets' health for several years) closed recently. I took our very healthy, sweet angel baby 2-year old kitty to All About Animals Pet Clinic one morning because we noticed minor drops of drool but was acting 100% well otherwise - eating full meals and snacks, being energetic and running around the house playing normally with our other cat - which I told AAA, in addition to the fact that she was very timid and scared to be away from home at the vet. Subsequently, AAA inflicted a battery of tests, medications, and repeated Xrays on our kitty to the tune of an outrageous almost $2,000 (!), claiming that although her bloodwork was normal, her condition was serious, and they suspected that our cat had an abdominal foreign body such as a string - which could be life-threatening. I was shocked and told them this was highly unlikely in our home and that our cat had been acting perfectly normally and well. We are very attentive pet owners and were reeling at this. The AAA vet mentioned as a minor side note - that our cat also had two cavities, but stated: "While this is not what we believe is causing her current illness, it is something we will want to address once she has fully recovered." (!) So our cat was subjected to extended confinement, medications, sedation, and radiation by AAA for an entire day until were advised that afternoon that she needed to be transported to University of IL VetMed Emergency for weekend hospitalization immediately! I was then charged close to $2,000, including $477 for a CBC blood test, $295 each for 2 sets of X-rays, a pancreatic test, ultrasound, heartworm test, catheterization, IV for hospitalization, medications, etc. I was stunned to say the least! I had no choice but to rush our then highly-sedated cat to UI VetMed Emergency Hospital - after hours - where she was thoroughly physically examined by the UI Vets, including bloodwork and an ultrasound. The UI Vets then let us know that all of the X-rays transferred to them from AAA showed ABSOLUTELY NO EVIDENCE of any foreign body, such as string, or anything else in her abdomen. They also assured us that our cat showed no clinical signs of any abdominal issue whatsoever, and so there was no need for the hospitalization ordered by AAA, and no need for them to conduct any further tests to rule out any abdominal issue. She never had any abdominal issue. They told us that the ONLY diagnosis was two teeth with gingival stomatitis which were inflamed and were the cause of the salivation. UI gave her medicine to stop the salivation (which we never saw again) and sent us home with mouth drops for her teeth pain. She came home and was fine - except for the trauma inflicted on her by AAA, including that she was confined for 14 hours and forced to suffer with mouth pain all day! Poor thing! We love our pets and this is very, very upsetting. We are completely shocked at the incompetence of All About Animals Pet Clinic, and I most certainly cannot afford to pay them $2,000 on my credit card -- for absolutely nothing but misdiagnosis and trauma! Of course I was forced to pay other providers to actually properly diagnose and treat our kitty! I had her teeth taken care of the very next business day by another great local vet (not All About Animals!). I believe that AAA saw an opportunity to jack up their bill. We sent a 3-page letter to the owner requesting a refund due to this outrageous situation, and were flatly denied. They actually refuse to honestly admit their mistake and to make things right - much less apologize. It's shocking. This is truly unethical and unprofessional behavior and is no way to conduct business. Avoid this terrible pet clinic. There are many excellent choices in this area. I would give zero stars.
The owner, Joella Koss' response is factually incorrect. Our kitty's dental issue was categorically dismissed by their vet Cailey Vandermark in their own report: 'While this is not what we believe is causing her current illness, it is something we will want to address once she has fully recovered.' (!) We were told only that our kitty must go to UI VetMed Emergency Hospital for hospitalization after they utterly failed to treat her teeth. UI vets correctly diagnosed the tooth issue and stated in their report: 'The radiographs (provided by AAA) did not show any evidence of a linear foreign body' and none of the records from AAA to UI Vet show any clinical indication of any issue with her abdomen, and none were suspected, so no further testing was indicated to rule it out at UI VetMed. Hospitalization was found to be not necessary, of course. Shocking.
