From beginning to purchase, this bike shop was fantastic!!! It is really hard sometimes to find a bicycle when you are vertically challenged (aka short). I noticed that they had a 44 in stock and called them up to confirm. I told them that I was willing to make the 3 1/2 hour drive to purchase the bike and asked if they would be so kind as not to sell it before I got there. They told me no problem!! Next day drove out to Fresno to purchase the bike. The sales person was extremely friendly and helpful. Our trip to Yosemite national park would not have been possible without these guys they outdid themselves and gave us amazing service. We traveled from LA county up to Yosemite and unfortunately one of our bikes disconnected from our bike rack and got pretty banged up. We thought our trip was over for sure and the bike was done for. When we got to the shop and told them what happened to us they made us feel like it wasn't a big deal at all. The owner of the store even spoke to us and told us to go have breakfast and by the time we were done our bike would be ready to go. We came back from having breakfast and our bike was ready. My daughter got a puncture in her tire on her bicycle and we were unsure what to do. To buy a patch or buy a new tire. I was calling some bike shops and this place was the most friendliest and explained to me that I would just need to buy an inner tube for the tire and not a brand new tire. They told me that they were not able to fix any bikes that were not purchased there quickly because they were so backed up with work. If I wanted them to fix it, it would take possibly 2-3 weeks before I get my daughter's bicycle back. The employee suggested that I just watch videos online or looks at instructions online on how to replace the inner tube. He told me there were a lot of tutorials and that anyone can do it... I asked him how much it would be for the part. He told me it would be $8.00 for the tube and the tool to take the tire off. But if they were to replace it, it would cost $20.00. I said well, I rather them change it because I don't want to mess up. He tells me, just watch the videos. The videos will show me step by step... Now I'm getting the feeling that he didn't want me to bring in the bike and I need to change it myself... So, I asked if I can pay for it over the phone and just pick up the part. He told me it would take the same amount of time if I paid in person. (So in other words, no, I need to pay in person). No problem, I understand the whole ID and credit card verification. About one week later, today, I go to the shop to purchase the tube and tool. Service was great and staff were friendly. I ended up having to pay $13.00 not $8.00. I'm guessing the employee misspoke or didn't include the tool when speaking to him over the phone. They didn't ID me when I used my card. So, I didn't understand why I couldn't just pay for it over the phone. I was hoping less contact during this time. One of the employees gave me a mini tutorial on how to change the tire. So I felt good and had a little knowledge on how to fix my daughter's flat tire. I would probably come back if my bike or my daughter's bike has another flat. Rubber Soul was a great place to shop for a new bicycle. The shop sports an amazingly wide selection, staff were incredibly informative and helpful. I came in a few different times and once I'd narrowed it down to my final choices, they let me take it for a spin in the parking lot with a loaner helmet. I appreciated they had inventory, with staff to assemble it right on the spot. Rubber Soul has a ton of accessories (i.e. baskets, helmets, racks, bungee cords, lights, bells, water bottles) to choose from and a good selection of e-bikes available. First and LAST time here. Service Dept is a rip off and amateurish. I brought in an custom made alloy wheel with one loose spoke, the adjacent spokes (2 on each side) were down to around 100 kgf. I explained this to the mech and to tighten spokes to 110-115 kfg. Estimated price to True the wheel was $25, five spokes. Four days later I pick up the wheel and the price has jumped to $40 because it became a Major True, the mech tightened the loose spoke to 110 kgf causing the wheel to get un-trued. He did this w/o checking nor tighten accordingly all five spokes. Lame an unprofessional. Your mech creates the problem and I have to pay for it. You suck RS. I'm glad I didn't bring in my S-Works and Dogma frames for BB lubes. Stay away if you have high end equipment. Hell, just stay away unless you're willing to get ripped off. read more

After 4 years of going to spin class at GB3, I finally decided to step up my game and purchase cycling shoes. I bought my shoes at REI and cleats that disappointed me the next morning because those didn't click with GB3 bikes :( So I went back and asked what were the right cleats. They told me they had them but not the adapter to install them on the shoe (double bummer). However they recommended me Rubber Soul and that perhaps they had a solution or I would need to purchase different shoes. Rubber Soul did not disappointed! As soon as I talked to one of their staff, one of the guys took my shoes cleats and got to work right away. Within 20 minutes, he had my shoes ready to go!!! I was beyond happy and grateful because they only charged me $5.00! If I knew about this place beforehand, I would of have bought my shoes there instead of REI. I went in to this shop early last week to get new tires for my Giant Contend SL. I have a tubeless setup and this was my first time ever changing tubeless tires. I go in, someone comes up to assist me, and I tell them that it's my first time changing tubeless tires and I'd like to know what tires to buy. So I get pointed in a direction, buy two Specialized tires and some sealant. I take them home and change the tires myself but could not get a proper seal. I was having air come through the two air-release holes in my rims. So I go back the following day and take the rims and tires in and asked if they could retake the rims. They said it would take a day but I needed it done sooner for my training schedule so I asked if they could sell me the proper sized rim tape. I buy some rim tape, head home, re-tape both wheels, still leaking... On Thursday last week, I had someone drop off the rims and tires at Rubber Soul to have them figure out the issue. At this point, It's taken 3 trips to Fresno from Madera to try and get some new tires properly mounted on my bike. On Friday, a 4th trip to Fresno was made to pick up the wheels. The valve stems were changed and they said they got the tires to seal, $60 charge. Awesome, now I'm ready for my half-Ironman distance triathlon at Donner Lake on Sunday.... Unfortunately, when we arrived in Truckee, and I installed the rims on my bike and aired up the tires to the proper PSI, the front tire blew off the rim after sitting for 5 minutes. Sealant went all over the back deck of our AirBnb. I spent almost an hour trying to clean everything. I called a local bike shop, Pacos, and they were able to get me in right away. I told the owner I just want tubes put in because I'm having all of these issues with the tires not sealing as a tubeless setup. He looks at the tires and says, "You know these aren't tubeless ready tires...". He shows me what the tubeless ready tires look like and I realize that I was sold the wrong tires to begin with.... The owner was very nice and took care of me and only charged me for the tubes, no install charge. So, imagine if the tires had held for a little bit and I was riding my bike in the triathlon and they blew off!? This is a huge safety issue caused by the neglect of the employees at Rubber Soul. I was thankful enough to have someone with common sense at a bike shop realize what the issue was and knew the difference between tube and tubeless tires, because Rubber Soul does not. (Obviously I did not as well and that's why I went in to Rubber Soul to be pointed in the right direction). Just yesterday, I decided to go into the shop and just talk to someone there to tell them what happened and how I believe the mechanics and employees need to pay more attention to things because a mistake like that not only cost me a lot of unnecessary time and money but it is a HUGE safety issue. The employee I told the story too seemed like he could care less and just said, "That sucks..", "Well, some employees here don't know the difference between tubes and tubeless tires..", and as I leave the store, "What's your name? I'll go let the mechanics know". ARE YOU JOKING!? And of course, every time time I've been in the store there seems to be different employees there so I have no clue who this guy was but he acted like he could completely care less and didn't offer to help in any way or give me a refund for the improper install of the wrong tires. I was hopeful when I left that someone would call me from the mechanic department but I never received a call. Rubber Soul, you have completely disrespected me and you will no longer receive my business and anyone I know will not be referred to you. You need to learn business ethics and teach your mechanics a thing or two. read more

My daughter was competing in the 43rd Annual Clovis Cross Country Meet at Woodward Park and I had brought my mountain bike to follow the race. About an hour before the race I got a flat and took my Trek to Rubber Soul. Zach helped me out, and the guys got my tire changed in under 10 minutes. I made it back to the race and was able to see my daughter run. They were very nice, and very efficient. I really appreciate their professionalism. Our older Trek mountain bike has not been used in a few years due to sticky grips & bad tires. So based on a co-worker's recommendation (who is a biking enthusiast), we took it to Rubber Soul for assessment. A couple of people looked at it and said it would be worth repairing & would cost a few hundred dollars. They said it was a good bike and given prices of new bikes, it would be worth repairing. So we left the shop with an itemized list with pricing and to pay when we pick up. A few days later, we received a text bike was ready. We were very happy with their job...bike looked & rode great! We were so happy, we took our other mountain bike, a Diamondback, for assessment. The DB was in much better shape & required less new parts. So they received another project. In stopping by this shop a few times, we found everyone there to be very friendly & helpful. Great atmosphere at this shop. Where do I start with Rubber Soul? Ben and Rich are like a tattoo on the Fresno cycling scene. My experience with both of them started in the late 90's when I first moved to Fresno. Like friendly faces who greeted me to The Fresno cycling community and made me feel welcomed. Both have owned their own shop and I have done business with both, my many bikes bought. Also lots bike parts and shared stories and adventures. When I started racing road and mountain bikes they were there always supportive. This is something you will not find online at some bike store a thousand miles away. I have not lived in Fresno for four years however I still bring my bike there when I need service. They are really worth the drive and for me that is now five hours. Most recently Ernesto worked on my Ibis Mojo mountain bike. The bike is 10 years old and has seen some hard miles across four states. Ernesto took my bike and treated it like his own. He made recommendations, like it had a worn hub body that needed replacing. A special part that is hard to get, but he got it. Rear shock that needed some work as well as the hydraulic brakes that were almost non functional and other required adjustments. Through the repair process he updated me on the progress. He called as soon as the repairs were complete. In this day and age of robot, this is customer service that you just don't find anymore. I can not say enough good things about the team at Rubber Souls which Ben and Rich have developed. They treat you like family, the good kind of family you can trust and depend on. read more

Left RB with a rear wheel for them to true. Several days later the bike mechanic called me and told me it couldn't be trued so they sold me a new rear wheel. The new wheel I purchased was much wider and didn't fit. The next day, I took it back for a refund because they didn't have the exact wheel size in stock. They only gave me a partial refund. They refunded the wheel but still charged me labor to install and remove the cassette for a wheel they sold me that didn't fit. When I asked me my original wheel, I got back the wheel but with an inferior generic steel hub lock, not the original specialized quick release skewer which I had dropped off. I can't recommend this business after this experience. read more

I took my bike here because it has been making a clanging sound and my chain kept falling off. I asked for an employee to assist me in getting the bike out of my car, which someone was more than happy to help. Within a couple minutes of checking out my bike, the employee was able to diagnose the problem and tell me how they would fix it. Within one day, my bike was fixed and once again an employee assisted in getting it back into the car. Overall, excellent customer service- friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Great service! I called in asking if they could verify that a bike I was interested in buying second hand had in fact been purchased from this shop. I had some red flags go off talking with the bike's seller since there was some misleading info in the ad. Long story short, the guys I talked to over the phone were able to verify the bike they had sold years ago and confirmed that it was not some counterfeit craigslist scam. So I looked for a used mountain bike on line at all the usual sites until it made me BONKERS with the scammers, "Franken Bikes" at $900 and 5-10 year old bike selling for near retail. Don't do what I did, go to Rubber Soul Working with Ester Gonzales at Rubber Soul was like I had arrived at an oasis for a trek through the desert. I told he what I was looking for and rode a $600, $800 and an $1100 Specialized Mt bike. The difference was night and day in rideability and feel. I purchased the $1100 bike and rode it 200 miles the first 10 days. Ester is very knowledgeable No pressure and really cute. After calling and asking for the owner/manager about my prior issue, I went back to get my kickstand, which was put on fast and efficient Anyhoo Robair "followed up" asked about my bike rack I purchased prior , Asked me if I've tightened it up, asked about my bike etc. (It's called customer (continued) service kiddos...... don't tease it, LEARN FROM HIM) My friend that was there with me was asking him about a 1200.00 bike rack and Robair suggested a below 200.00 tailgate type cover bike holder.....which my friend bought in minutes. Robair sold it, came back out and showed us how to strap it on, as well as load and strap bikes down. He had a chill, down to earth attitude, didn't trip or treat me different because of my other not so great YELP review, (he was the STAR of that one though) he did his job, But thank you to Ben for putting aside the stand and making sure it was put on when I went!
