The massage I had today at Ancient Thai Bodywork with Esther was hands down the BEST massage I've ever had. They were able to squeeze me in today after I pinched something wicked in my neck, but I don't think I realized how tense the rest of me was in general. I walked out of the studio feeling so light and like a brand new person. Esther was kind, intuitive in her work, and regularly checked in throughout the massage. Everything she did helped so much. However, my friend next to me was never asked. The guy was really rough and she said multiple times to go softer because he was really hurting her. Her body language also was showing how painful it was. My lady even had to stop and tell him to go lighter and asked my friend if she was ok. He never went softer. She almost told him to just stop the massage all together. What really got me was after the massage I tipped my lady as I was satisfied. My friend did not tip because she was extremely dissatisfied. I came for a much needed and overdue massage and decided to try out this place because it was…read morerelatively close by. I came on a Monday around 10:00 am and not surprisingly, I was the only customer. I did their combo 90 minute massage which was 45 min feet massage and 45 min full body massage. I liked the overall atmosphere. The red lights combined with the asian instrumentals playing in the background made it relaxing. I don't normally get feet massages but to my surprise I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I think many people underestimate feet massages and focus a lot on full body massages but our feet contain a lot of muscles and nerves that do need to be worked on. For me, personally, the pressure applied was perfect. The moment it started to get a bit sore from working on knots and pressure points the masseuse would basically comb over the entire surface of what was being worked on to kind of give it like a "reset" and work on another area before coming back to the same knot. I could feel the blood circulation flowing more smoothly and everything. After the feet massage, he gave me a pair of slippers and walked me to the back of the seats where there's a divider for body massages. This was my favorite part because my body was lathered in massage oil which made the experience better. Some other massages I've been to had lotion that would dry up within minutes or just worked dry and that's just not something I prefer. Same thing here, my back had lots of knots that was worked on and when I started thinking "man he's getting deep in there" he would then do the "reset" I mentioned earlier, work on another section, before eventually coming back again to loosen the knots. The ONLY complaint I have is that I was not turned over and I didn't get a nice short head/neck combo massage. But that's no biggie. I enjoyed everything else.
