You know how planning a wedding has its ups and downs, and is filled with surprises? Imagine, if you will, that one of my magical wedding surprises was finding out that my grandmother, after thinking it over, didn't want to come to my wedding after all, because "having to pick up an old lady in a faraway town is such a burden" (her words, not mine!) - enter Ruben, the grandmother-whisperer. Ruben charmed my grandmother with his amazing and patient personality, and this was no small task. Believe me. He also charmed my grandmother by picking her up in a gorgeous, gleaming white stretch limousine. My grandmother got to ride down the highway like a movie star diplomat. This was the most baller move I've ever seen. Ruben, you're a genius, and a master of old lady diplomacy. All year, Gram told everyone within earshot how much fun she had riding in "her" white limo with Ruben. I'm very confident that without Ruben, my hero, our wedding would have been short one (short) old lady. Ruben drove two hours round trip, and spent eight hours with us at my wedding, just so my family could be together on a really important day. Yes, he was professional, punctual, courteous, and his vehicle was immaculate. This is all extremely valuable on its own. However, Ruben went far above and beyond to put my beloved grandmother at ease, and he was single-handedly responsible for getting my grandmother to come to my wedding. As per usual, a couple of flight delays messed up my travel times and I saw that I was going to miss my shuttle from BOS to Southbridge, MA, so I called the hotel and they recommended Ruben's. I called from LAX and coordinated for a car. Once I landed in Reagan, I ended up missing my connector to BOS because the plane got stuck on the flight line for 30 min. As soon as I was notified, I texted Ruben to let him know the change. I finally get to BOS and my bag isn't here for another hour...typical, then on top of it Ruben tells me I have to pay an extra $50 on top of the $150, for the driver waiting 4 hours. First of all, I asked of an 8 pm pick up, and I'll be on the road by 10:30, second he told me I could have let him know sooner.."they have wifi on the planes" he said to me. Sorry, I don't pay for wifi. I get that drivers have to be paid but, that comment irritated me. To say the least, I would not recommend Reuben's unless you know for sure when you are going to be there. The driver was nice though. read more
