A bit off the beaten path but if you are in the area and wants to satisfy a pizza craving then this is the place! Good pizza and the soundsystem is amazing!

Coffee Eat and Beats! Love it! Had a amazing Fungi a la Truffle pizza accompanied by a DJ set played by Max the owner (check out the Rubio web page and social media pages for upcoming music events) So the food and live music is not the only great thing about this place, the interior is designed and decorated with some amazing light fittings and a pretty impressive display of records. I could see this being a great space for an intimate birthday gathering.

Rubio's is an unexpected treat. It's a beautiful restaurant, intimate with close tables, comfy chairs, and strikingly moody decor. The thing you'll notice first is the vinyl covers, the wall of the main restaurant is covered with these. It gives a lot of colour, atmosphere and eludes to the bohemian vibe that oozes from this venue. It also gives you an insight into the owner of Rubio's, a local whose other love apart from running a chilled out restaurant is DJing. I ordered the calzone, beetroot and goats cheese starter and a glass of the house red. My friend ordered the atun (tuna, roasted onions and black olives). It was extremely hard to order, I liked the look so many of the pizzas on the menu, the wild mushroom and truffle oil being on my wish list. But I'm a sucker for Calzone, and this was a good one, I found it stuffed with ingredients, filled almost entirely to the edge. The tomato sauce was delicious, it was just so rich, and the dough was backed to a perfect consistency, not too hard, with a nice spongy bite. Being me I added some home made chilly oil to give it a bit of extra bite... absolutely yummy! The beetroot and cheese salad (served on a bed of rocket), was a nice break from the intense flavors of the calzone, I liked the balance of having the fresh with the baked. House wine was absolutely drinkable, not outstanding, but yet there was nothing wrong with it and it complemented the pizza. At £12 for the pizza, £4.50 salad and £4.80 a glass of wine, it very reasonably priced. One tip; we struggled to finish the meal (even though I was ravenous), I'd suggest therefore if you're going as a couple and want starters or deserts you might want to share a pizza. Staff were also pretty friendly, the bathroom was amazingly clean and luxurious (yup it's important) and whilst the owner was DJing, it was at a very reasonable volume, so it was easy to talk with friends. A really nice vibe that I could see being nice for a leisurely brunch which they do also offer.

    Veg pizza

My friend and I were here earlier this week for a Yelp event. The restaurant generously offered us Yelpers free pizza and booze. I got the veg pizza and my friend the truffle pizza. I am a major pizza snob as a native NYer and I have to admit the veg, while loaded with toppings, was only OK. The flavour could have been far more intense. The truffle pizza though tasted delicious and I was jealous of my friend's pie! But the prices and pizzas are very reasonable so if I lived in the area I would probably swing by.

Very chill venue. Instantly felt cozy after walking in from the rain. Great service, was greeted warmly by wait staff who were attentive throughout the evening. Excellent pizza menu, so many options. I went to the Napoli- pepperoni, choizo and olives. Annoyingly the olives were not pitted which made it difficult to enjoy the pizza as a whole. Two of the waitstaff where very attentive in warning me. Was a nice surprise to learn the the owner (half of the Shapeshifters) would be planing a DJ set. I was a little worried that a DJ wouldnt fit in with the chill atmosphere created and was happy that it only added to the relaxed atmosphere of Rubio. Highly recommended if you are in the area.

    The record wall

Just off of the High Street in Harlesden is Rubio, a cozy looking pizzeria with a funky wall and plenty of good offerings. At around £10-12 for a pizza, and £3-5 for a starter it's decently priced and the quality is definitely there. The garlic bread with mozzarella was a star, perfectly crispy, no sign of any burn and just the right amount of garlic to make you feel it. Normally a fan of NY style pizza (big flavours, big slices) this is a really good alternative when it's not available. I opted for a calzone and wasn't disappointed, it was really stuffed full of cheese, meat and mushrooms and I went in hungry and left full. There was a little spice in there that negated my usual want of chili oil to add a bit more kick to a pizza. The décor is fun, with a wall dedicated to vinyl albums (some of which have records in them so don't mess around too much with them! The owner is a DJ and occasionally spins up tunes in the evening, there's a DJ setup in one corner. In terms of service, the staff were fun and engaging and always kept an eye out for plates that could be cleared away or drinks that may need replenishing. That combined with the food means that it's on my list of places to go to again. If only you were a little more central than Harlesden (although tbh I do seem to end up in that direction more often than not).

    Calzone pizza at Rubio :)

I had the calzone pizza and it was great. For a spicy option, you can either have chili oil, Tabasco or chili flakes. The portion is also quite filling so really good value. It's around 15 minute walk from the tube, but quite easy to find and has a nice atmosphere.

    Cappriciosa, full and yummy!

The pizza was very very nice, well packed, nice and juicy, the dough crusty and not to thin for people who like the full dough experience. The service is super cute and friendly, just lovely discrete people. The owner Max is a music lover) dj from Sweden who vanished behind the turntables and served us more vinyl plates. If you are into a good pizza, a loungy atmosphere and good warm funky vibes, give Rubio a go!

I visited Bill's at Westfield London before getting a train home. I was able to get a table easily,…read morewhich I was grateful for, as many restaurants inside the mall either had no availability for a large queue, and I was short on time, as I planned to get a train home to Manchester shortly after my visit here. It is located in the outdoor part of the mall, on the corner, the vibes inside the restaurant are pretty cool, especially for a mall location. My table looked a little beaten and worse for wear, though it looked like it had been banged and potentially damaged by a candle. I was disappointed with the service here, as I encountered issues with multiple staff members. After being seated, my waitress seemed distracted and wasn't listening. She initially tried to take me to a larger party's table, and I had to explain that I had booked a table for one. Another staff member overheard our conversation and brought me the gluten-free menu as she didn't. I then had an issue with a different female staff member who ignored me completely while setting cutlery on another table, leaving mine without any. I had to take cutlery from another table, and she again seemed frustrated when she had to set this table again after noticing what I had done. Finally, when I asked a male staff member to remove the service charge, he initially claimed he couldn't do it. He made out that it would be such a rigmarole to remove it as he'd have to do it manually and couldn't remove it when using the payment app- he made it unnecessarily awkward and then began questioning why I'd remove it in the first place. I ordered the fish pie, which was made gluten-free, the cheese and chive mash on top was fantastic; it was really tasty, and I also liked the sauce of the pie however, the fish, especially the salmon and the cod, wasn't pleasant, it was chewy. If you're ordering a fish pie, the key part of the meal is the fish - and if they can't get that right, that's a big issue. My side of rosemary salted fries was fine, but they were average fries. They didn't taste fresh, and the difference between the rosemary salted fries here and at Honest Burger, where they are far superior, is night and day. They offered me a voucher for a future visit to Bill's, which I plan to use soon. I intend to update my rating after my next visit, hoping this was just a one-off incident or an off day rather than a recurring issue. 2*

Patchy service can't dampen my enthusiasm for this top place…read more The manageress is a surly, miserable git who barks orders at her rushed but sweet staff and can't be bothered to raise a smile herself. She either had a raging hangover or she just hates her job. We went for brunch on fathers' day and I ordered a full English. It was delicious but after I quaffed the lot I spied someone else's full english with a big fat juicy sausage on it. I had been deprived. Miss Surly took £2 off the bill but promptly added five more on the machine. Luckily we checked the tab. Surly Bollocks mumbled some sort of excuse and corrected it. An apology would have been a sign of weakness or defeat. What else? Butter for my toast came only after I asked three times. And my second pot of tea came without a lid. They simply didn't have any more! Frankly I can live with all that for an excellent full English . Even without the sausage I enjoyed it immensely - good black pudding is always a sign of real quality. And the milkshakes are A1. Served in dinky little milk bottles and tasting delicious and malty. All served in a place that doesn't seem to be trying to be cool at all, and is therefore achingly thus. The back room opens out nicely. It's relaxed and charmingly kitted out with sweet arty bits denoting the local area and its the venue's music hall history. Ask for a booth, they are comfy and spacious. Just don't ask the grumpy one. She'll hurrump and react like you asked for your shake to be served in the Holy Grail.
