I visited Bill's at Westfield London before getting a train home. I was able to get a table easily, which I was grateful for, as many restaurants inside the mall either had no availability for a large queue, and I was short on time, as I planned to get a train home to Manchester shortly after my visit here. It is located in the outdoor part of the mall, on the corner, the vibes inside the restaurant are pretty cool, especially for a mall location. My table looked a little beaten and worse for wear, though it looked like it had been banged and potentially damaged by a candle. I was disappointed with the service here, as I encountered issues with multiple staff members. After being seated, my waitress seemed distracted and wasn't listening. She initially tried to take me to a larger party's table, and I had to explain that I had booked a table for one. Another staff member overheard our conversation and brought me the gluten-free menu as she didn't. I then had an issue with a different female staff member who ignored me completely while setting cutlery on another table, leaving mine without any. I had to take cutlery from another table, and she again seemed frustrated when she had to set this table again after noticing what I had done. Finally, when I asked a male staff member to remove the service charge, he initially claimed he couldn't do it. He made out that it would be such a rigmarole to remove it as he'd have to do it manually and couldn't remove it when using the payment app- he made it unnecessarily awkward and then began questioning why I'd remove it in the first place. I ordered the fish pie, which was made gluten-free, the cheese and chive mash on top was fantastic; it was really tasty, and I also liked the sauce of the pie however, the fish, especially the salmon and the cod, wasn't pleasant, it was chewy. If you're ordering a fish pie, the key part of the meal is the fish - and if they can't get that right, that's a big issue. My side of rosemary salted fries was fine, but they were average fries. They didn't taste fresh, and the difference between the rosemary salted fries here and at Honest Burger, where they are far superior, is night and day. They offered me a voucher for a future visit to Bill's, which I plan to use soon. I intend to update my rating after my next visit, hoping this was just a one-off incident or an off day rather than a recurring issue. 2* read more

Been here several times - their breakfasts are better than their lunches/dinners as there's more variety and their mains just seem to be rather ordinary and over-priced. I usually get their pancakes with a side of streaky bacon but have noticed that the size of the pancakes are significantly smaller in comparison to when I first got them when the restaurant first opened a few years ago... and they just seem to be getting even smaller every time I order them. My boyfriend also usually gets the porridge and he's noticed too that they've skimped on the portion size. Bill's is good but not exactly value for money, especially since this particular Bill's at Westfield has skimped on their portion sizes - it's actually a bit of a rip off now. Oh no, this is sad. Bill's used to be my favourite place and a destination on every trip to Brighton. Fast forward a few years and now there seems to be a Bill's at all the most boring corners of London. I'm just not a fan of turning a winning formula into a chain - it hardly ever works without destroying what made the original place special in the first place. Unfortunately, Bill's at Westfields proves this point. Stacks and stacks of colourful packaging and industrial lampshades just aren't all that unusual or special anymore; and it's diffidult to create an individual atmosphere in a big square space tagged onto a shopping mall. Mind you, Bill's does a better job than most which is what tempted us to stay on Southern Terrace in the first place (rather than venturing into Shepherds Bush itself). Unfortunately, we were fifteen minutes too late for the brunch menu - what a shame they don't offer an all-day breakfast option, it's easy to lose all sense of time in a shopping precinct! So, chosing from the lunch menu was second best from the start. My friend and I both opted for the mac 'n' cheese main which sounded like just the sort of comfort food a rainy day in January calls for. What a disappointment!! It's not that difficult to make a simple pasta dish taste good - or is it?! Bill's version was bland - the addition of butternut squash and spinach was a sad joke and didn't deserve its special mention on the menu; we literraly found two bits of squash and a maximum of half a dozen spinach leaves each. read more

I have given multiple things on the menu a shot hoping its going to be great, yet I always end up with average food, an average drink, average service, just ... ehhh. People have been telling me to go to Bills for ages, so I finally managed to and, yeah.. it's OK. I think the decor is certainly interesting, but it's also very confused about what it's trying to be. It's trying desperately hard to be unique and edgy, but it's still painfully obvious that this is manufactured aesthetic. I don't recall ever having eaten at a Bill's before (that IS good English even if it doesn't look right!) although my daughter assures me I've been with her. Couldn't make up our minds where best to go to for lunch after a couple of hours of shopping settled on Bill's because there were at least two options I thought I'd be likely to choose. We were given a table in a little alcove to one side of the drink serving counter so we were a little away from the rest of the diners (although everyone had to pass our table to get to the toilets - not everyone's idea of ideal but we didn't find it a problem). The interior is modern utilitarian, the tables reminded me of old wooden worktables. On the table, besides the condiments, is a small bucket with cutlery and a paper bag (pen inside!) on which is printed a list of goodies like Bill's jams, and packed sweets. I was pleased to see that they have a "gluten free" menu. For drinks, my husband ordered a watermelon smoothie and daughter and I settled on fresh mint tea (a steeper, my daughter calls it when she makes this at home - it's just fresh mint over which freshly boiled water is poured over and allowed to....yes, you've guess it....steep!). I tasted the watermelon smoothie (not a great lover of watermelon actually) and it was really refreshing! For our main meals I asked for the halloumi burger. This is actually fried halloumi in a burger bun together with humus, baby gem lettuace, roasted peppers, sweet chilli sauce and yogurt, and was served with skin on fries. It was delicious! Husband ordered the whole plaice which was quite a large piece of fish on the bone. This is described in the menu thus:- pan fried whole devon plaice 12.50 served with a brown butter, caper, lemon and fat leaf parsley sauce, sautéed new potatoes on the side, topped with a little watercress salad. Daughter had the veggie board which consisted of sunblushed tomatoes and basil,baba ganoush, extra virgin olive oil, hummus, marinated olives, crispy halloumi, tortilla chips and grilled piadina bread. Actually she asked to have extra halloumi instead of the baba ganoush. Our meals were really tasty and we felt were very good value. In spite of being very busy, the staff were very efficient and helpful, although our waitress had a foreign accent and it was a bit difficult to understand what she was saying. Hadn't been sure whether to have dessert but when husband said he wanted to look at the dessert menu.....well I wasn't going to say no! He ordered the warm mini cinnamon doughnuts which came with fresh strawberries and warm chocolate dipping sauce. He'd expected a couple of small doughnuts but was surprised by a much bigger portion than he'd get. My "lemon meringue pie cheesecake in a glass" had a crumb base, a layer of lemon curd, then yogurt ice cream and poppy seed meringue. Sometimes desserts can be just two sweet and sickly but ours were just right. Not a place I would go to regularly but I would definitely go back in the future! read more

We went to Bill's because our hotel was near the Westfield Shopping Center and because they do afternoon tea without a reservation, which our hotel did not. They had other options but we wanted a cream tea, which was good, and the service was excellent. When we left, I accidentally left my camera, and the young lady who waited on us ran after me and caught me so I didn't lose it. The decor at Bill's lends new meaning to the word "eclectic." Traditional chandeliers jostle exposed pipes and there is stuff everywhere. There's outside seating when the weather is nice, and the menu had a lot of options. We liked it so much, we went back for our last dinner in London and we weren't disappointed. I had lamb and my husband had braised shin of beef, which was served in a sort of phyllo-crust pie. My name is VENUS and if you look at tripadvisor you will see a string of really nice reviews from customers who benefited from my service at bill's. Aside from the fact that customers are waiting an average of an hour or more for their food and 40 minutes for their drinks (especially on weekends!!! please read reviews from customers below, I'm not making this up) and the fact that certain staff members drop clean cutlery on the floor and place them back into the cutlery drawers..... BILL'S DOESN'T PAY THEIR STAFF SERVICE CHARGE, instead what they do is they dangle your service charge in front of your face like a carrot on a stick and tell you that you're able to earn back SOME OF IT by receiving good reviews on tripadvisor and receiving compliments to head office (a very clever marketting tactic, because if it wasn't for the amazing service we give out as staff and practically have to beg our customers for good reviews then their whole review section would be filled with disgruntled customers who have had to wait for an age for food and drink... even some of the good reviews left by customers praise the waiter/waitress but STILL mention how below par the food is, doesn't this tell you something?). If you scroll down on tripadvisor you can see I wasn't working for bill's for very long, and it wasn't until I was about a week into my role that I realised we're getting robbed of our service charge. After realising how conniving the general manager (Monique) is and how badly Bill's is being run as a company I obviously handed in my notice, (the staff turnover at Bill's is RIDICULOUS) and haven't been paid my "bonuses". I just really think that the company as a whole is disgusting and I feel that the public has a right to know. I could write so much more, but I think this paints a pretty clear picture of what they're like. Came here for lunch after spending a number of hours with the some girlfriends shopping, which was suppose to be pop into one shop, buy one thing and go to lunch but obviously with girls that never happens!! It was literally we need to find somewhere that we can get seated quickly as it was quite warm and extremely busy, also I was extremely tired from walking around Westfield for hours!! For lunch I had the cod fish finger sandwich and skin on fries which was surprisingly nice. It was on toasted farmhouse bread with tartare sauce, rocket and ketchup. It tasted really good and the skin on fries were a nice change from the normal chips I have. I don't remember what everyone else in the group had but I do remember everyone enjoying it. When it came to drinks, there was an issue of wrong drinks being given and when we corrected the waiter, a different waiter came and he still bought the wrong order, none of us were happy about this that we took it up to the manager who compensated us by giving the drinks for free. Great customer service, but I wish they just got the drinks sorted out first time round. The location is really easy to find as its in the southern terrace just near the entrance to Westfield. The staff are good but they clearly couldn't remember which table ordered which drinks hence the mix up. I probably won't come back as it is nice but I wasn't too keen on this place. read more
