I have walked by this bookshop multiple times but it had already been closed for the evening. I longingly stared inside and made it a goal to find my way in at some point when I was back in the area . I finally got an opportunity to check it out during business hours and fell in love immediately. The space was colorful and welcoming and the employees were all super friendly and eager to help. Great for perusing, and great for gifts. When I found the children's section in the back with the Arthur and miss frizzle mural my inner child did a little dance. I would have loved to have this space as a kid. Supposedly ruby the doggo also makes an appearance in the shop throughout the week and I'm looking forward to meeting her! Got a really good book haul and itching to return already.

I was walking around Sutter Street and stumbled upon this bookstore. When I heard they give out teacher discounts (15%) I knew this was the bookstore. I found some books for my classroom at a reasonable price. The customer service is great as well, will be back at this bookstore when I'm in the area. Would highly recommend!

The book I recently purchased was signed by a local author from Lake Tahoe

I have been in Ruby's bookstore about five times and I always find a fantastic selection of books, especially on my favorite topics: travel and nature. The bookstore is beautiful in how it presents the books, some of which have been signed by the authors. I like how there is also cool art for sale in addition to small, fun items like bookmarks, magnets, and stickers. I encourage you to shop local and to buy a book here instead of online. It makes the book even more special to recall the shop where you bought it from. There is an adorable dog at Ruby's who I love to visit with whenever I am there. I am a new customer but sure to be a loyal one! One last point, customer service is excellent and you can even order on their website and pick up later. I just did that.

Super cute bookstore in the heart of Downtown Folsom! We were in the area and decided to park and take a walk around the different shops. My husband told me to look for a bookstore and sure enough - Ruby's popped up! They had a great selection of books and their Children's section was very adorable - I had to practically drag my daughter out of the store! It seemed like the books cost whatever was listed as the original price on the back of the book - so nothing was really marked down. We did walk away with 3 different books for my daughter though! Staff were very friendly and quick to assist! I love supporting small businesses especially bookstores! Check them out!

Had to stop in for independent bookstore day!

Ruby's Books is by far my favorite in the Sac area! The selection of books, amazing staff recommendations and overall experience is something that always leaves me smiling. Can't wait to try one of their upcoming book clubs too!

We love Ruby's! It's on Sutter Street in the heart of old Historic Folsom. The store is lovely, light and bright and cheerful. The employees are always very friendly and they always have great book recommendations too. I love shopping here and supporting Indie bookstores. They have a great gift selection and awesome stickers, tote bags, bookmarks, etc for the book lovers.

One of my favorite gems in all of Folsom! Ruby's books is a book lover's haven. There are SO many books on various topics and genres; all very organized. The staff here is always super friendly and helpful (not to mention, Ruby loves everyone who walks through the door)! My husband always Christmas shops for me here. He tells the staff what I have been enjoying, and they love to give recommendations. I've loved everything they have recommended to him. Such a great store! Has a wonderful children's selection, too.

Ruby's Books has been on my bookmark list for a very long time and I was happy I was able to make it here during Winter Break. This bookstore deserves a 5/5 because of how organized it is, how nice the employees are and the selection they have. When you walk in, you are instantly welcomed with recommendations, seasons picks and merchandise you just have to have. I was drawn to the pins and coasters immediately. I then went to the books. The employees are extremely nice. They circulated the store and checked in with the customers often. At checkout, they made sure to get to know their customers by asking questions based on what the customers bought. For instance, I got Fourth Wing merch and the kind lady informed me about their upcoming release day. From travel to romantasy, this store has something for everyone. I walked out with a book bag, book marks and pins. I cannot wait to check out this bookstore again. Please consider Ruby's when you are wanting to go to a book shop.

Friendly and helpful staff. It's a nice cozy spot to shop local and find all your reading needs. I was looking for a particular book and it was cheaper on amazon but I really felt it was worth the purchase!! I would come back again for more books and gifts. We free sticker when you spinners the ruby wheel! Overall, great place!

I mean like a Barnes & Noble kitchen with sandwiches, burgers, pastas and even ribs - with separate seating and everything. The inside is massive, but organized and well stocked. I liked seeing the big book displays and the different sections they created. The kids area was also really nice and welcoming. While we didn't check out the cafe as we had just eaten lunch, we did buy a few books for our daughter. We could have spent hours here, but sadly we had to drive home. Staff were very friendly and helpful! You could always find at least one employee walking around in each section which I really liked. Overall, this is an amazing location! Then check out the Friends of the Library Bookstore. It's located inside the Folsom Public Library building. They sell all sorts of categories. Children, cookbooks, young adults, sci fi, mystery, and nonfiction. Plus CD, DVDs, and audio books. Prices range from free ( aha... giving it away with nothing asked in return kind of free), a quarter to $3. When they have the monthly pop up sales, recently decommissioned library books are 10 for $1. Yes... I did a double take too. 10 books for $1!! The proceeds goes back into the library programs. My 5 year old received the Amazing Animals book from their Free Books basket(1 book per child) she recommended as well! I would definitely recommend paying a visit to this non-profit organization that opened it's doors in the year 1990, all run by volunteers, all items generously donated and all staff volunteers! Each sale of course goes towards the library, they accept donations for gently used books, DVDS, CDs and audio books as well! In fact we'll be stopping by this morning to donate some children's books and purchase some Handmade Father's Day cards as well to help support our favorite library! :-)

We used to buy childrens books here almost weekly, their selection is decent while extremely unorganized. (Don't trip on the piles of books). Don was great, as he was always friendly and helpful, and it was clear he had a deep passion and love for books. We would bring in trade books as our kids grew up and outgrew their books, and they would discount any new purchases based on how much trade credit we had with them. The books were always priced well and reasonably, and while disorganized, it was the closest bookstore we had. it was always fun to look for treasures, and chat a bit with Don. Things went completely downhill when his wife took over the business. She got rid of the friendly cashiers and replaced them with what appears to be her friends, who know next to nothing about books, and are constantly in bad moods or throw attitude. Last week we were in line and the grey haired lady rand up a guy in front of us, saying nothing, then mockingly said something along the lines of "This is where you give me the credit card so that you pay", without saying anything else to him. No idea why she was so mad as a quiet customer who was confused by herr terrible attitude. We wanted to leave immediately, but we had two books to buy, so we had to deal with the aftermath. Then when we were checked out, she grumpily told us the price without looking at us. What on earth is happening here now. When we got home, we saw that the books were priced 1 or 2 dollars more than the new price, so even with our discount, we were practically paying new prices for books in fairly poor condition. We will be going elsewhere in the future. We just wish a decent bookstore would open in our area so we don't have to drive to Half Price. Maybe when his wife gives up, it will prompt someone else to open a shop who actually cares.

It was so easy to drop off & receive credit for our books! Credit received is more than fair &…read morebooks in store are priced well with a HUGE variety to choose from.
