When I heard about a store in Historic Folsom dedicated to ornaments, we made a trip ASAP from Elk Grove! We are doing a food themed tree this year and their dedicated section to food ornaments here was exactly what we needed!! We have scoured many stores in person and online and have gotten most of our favorite foods but still managed to walk out of here with 4 new additions! This place is dangerous as in you're bound to spend a lot of money that you weren't planning to spend! I love how they have it organized into different areas too - food, sports, birds, animals, characters. And these are unique too, not just the same old ornaments you'd see at a retail store. What a fun little find, will definitely be returning in the Christmas seasons to come! read more

Came here while strolling through old Folsom with hubby on a day date trip. I have never been here before and I have never known this place til now. I didn't know what to expect from this place til yℴu walk inside. OOMG it's Christmas time all over again and everywhere and about every single thing you can make into Christmas. The kid me is screaming for joy I'm so amused by everything here to the decor and the choices and endless options I have to pick something out. Yℴu will definitely find something for that person In your life. From sports, cars, toys, music, traditional, cowboy, Disney, cartoons and so so much more. I could really get lost in here for some time. Because I want to look at everything from the colour to detail. I'm definitely an ornament person I make em and buy and give them out. I saw something that caught my eye and it made me instantly think of hubby. I bought it and I'll be hiding top Xmas to give to him. This is an exceptional ornament shop in Folsom in the Historic District. Just about every Christmas, Halloween, Easter, and every other holiday you can think of is represented in this shop by the thousands of choices from tree decoration, to static displays, to wreaths, to statues. I came here last weekend with my partner to do some Christmas shopping and browse. We hadn't been to Dorothea's in quite a while and it was nice to see the selection is still amazing--although pricey. There was a young man working there that I had not seen before. He was extremely hardworking and answered all of my annoying questions about the different Knick knacks and ornaments they had. I was looking specifically for cat ornaments and he took the time to lead me to the correct area and let me know to ask if I needed help looking for anything else. Normally I am not a fan of an entirely "holiday" themed decor shop. However, Dorothea's was a whimsical and enjoyable stop in Historic Folsom. Their selection of Christmas decorations fills most of the shop and everything is neatly arranged by "style" or genre. Woodland animal themed ornaments were especially appealing and also very well priced! I could seeing making a purchase here when I am more in the holiday frame of mind. Just walking in got me in the Christmas spirit for next year. In addition to the ornaments there was a small selection of ceramic village houses as well as other areas of the store allocated for other holidays. Being that we're approaching Easter they had a small but cute section of bunnies, birds and spring themed decorations. They also had a unique collection of Halloween ceramic houses and decor. Any time I am walking around Sutter St, I always find myself coming in here. All the different types of ornaments are so cool to look at. I love grab bags and when I went in May of last year they had a whole basket full. They have fun other things too. Always an interesting stop! read more

This is a long story, but I'm visiting Folsom from Chicago. I took a Lyft to the Johnny Cash trail, and while I wad jogging, my phone died. Since I was running, I didn't have a charger. I wandered around old Folsom looking for someone to lend me a charger. After finding no success at the coffee shop or taqueria, I walked into Dorothea's, where the kind man behind the counter let me use his phone charger. I summoned a Lyft and browsed the store while I waited for my ride. Now, being Jewish, I have little use for Christmas ornaments, but this place has a great collection. They have music themed ornaments, traditional ornaments, food ornaments, and a lot more. They even have glittery morel mushroom ornaments! Keep in mind that this is a "Christmas decor store". Although, the have Fiesta Ware. I walked in today after seeing a post on Facebook. I was curious about what they had, as the pictures looked as if they had a lot. Let me tell you what.... The owners are amazing! They were so helpful. Sheri is the Fiesta Ware historian! She knows all the old and retired colors as well as the new colors. We had a whole conversation speaking in Fiesta Ware colors. After talking about he colors I already have and the colors I hope to get, Sheri informed me that one of the colors I've been looking to buy was now considered "retired" in 2015! I had NO idea! The owners are happy to help you get something ordered or just talk and help you out. I am so glad I stopped in to check out their selection. Although I didn't look at the Christmas stuff, I am sure it was still amazing. The store is big and they have a lot of odd nic-nacs and fun gifts. I won't hesitate to go back soon! read more

I am a typical guy that doesn't know a lot about Christmas decorations. My girlfriend wants a nativity scene and I looked at other places but they had a very limited selection. I literally had to ask Sherri for help because there are so many to select from. She took the time to explain everything to me and showed me how my gf can expand on the one I got every year if she wants. Oh,I also got an elf on the shelf and they have tons of them. Makes a fun thing to do for the kids. You get to watch them wake up every morning and see where the elf moved too. 1st time in here. Wow, what a selection. The staff are knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. We were looking for a specific nut cracker, kind of a needle in hay stack. They found it and special ordered it for us without an issue and at a great price. We usually hit the seasonal store in placerville but o think we will come here from now on. I have been going to this place since I was a kid! I always love going in, especially during Christmas! It's so appropriate to go during the holidays, because it has multiple rooms of holiday cheer - ornaments, statues, house sets, gingerbread decorations. You name it and they have it! It's a mom-and-pop place, so things are kind of pricey - some of it's worth it, some of it you can find cheaper online (sorry!). It's definitely and experience of Christmas joy that you want to go for (and maybe pick up a small something). Some of the employees are nice and helpful, one younger girl was not so much! I love Dorothea's! My husband and I come here every year for a purchase ( have been doing so for 30 years). They have an unbelievable supply of Christmas ornaments and decorations. Since Jim and his wife took over the store about 5 years ago the inventory has gotten better and better. The staff is always friendly and helpful! This store is truly a staple of Folsom, Ca.
