This book store is huge! So many choices lots of room to walk around and take a look pricing is good for this area. They had lots of other items you could buy like journals and things you get at any big store really just more personalized I was greeted when I walked in the door. Staff was very nice. I've been going here for years and I can tell you that this is my favorite bookstore of all time. I'm not going to lie and say that they have great deals on pricing, but the pricing is just as good as Barnes & Noble. I'm going to be completely honest and let you know that 10% of the reason that I come here is because I want to shop local and support local businesses. They have pretty good selection and if they don't have the book that I'm looking for they will order it for me and let me know when my order is ready to pick up. 90% of the reason that I come here is because they have the absolute best employee!!! She's so amazing that the bookstore is actually named after her!! For those who don't know this bookstore is named after a dog named Ruby. I haven't seen her there very often but it's always worth popping my head in to see her lounging about. read more

I have walked by this bookshop multiple times but it had already been closed for the evening. I longingly stared inside and made it a goal to find my way in at some point when I was back in the area . I finally got an opportunity to check it out during business hours and fell in love immediately. The space was colorful and welcoming and the employees were all super friendly and eager to help. Great for perusing, and great for gifts. When I found the children's section in the back with the Arthur and miss frizzle mural my inner child did a little dance. I would have loved to have this space as a kid. Supposedly ruby the doggo also makes an appearance in the shop throughout the week and I'm looking forward to meeting her! I have been in Ruby's bookstore about five times and I always find a fantastic selection of books, especially on my favorite topics: travel and nature. The bookstore is beautiful in how it presents the books, some of which have been signed by the authors. I like how there is also cool art for sale in addition to small, fun items like bookmarks,magnets, and stickers. I encourage you to shop local and to buy a book here instead of online. It makes the book even more special to recall the shop where you bought it from. There is an adorable dog at Ruby's who I love to visit with whenever I am there. Super cute bookstore in the heart of Downtown Folsom! We were in the area and decided to park and take a walk around the different shops. My husband told me to look for a bookstore and sure enough - Ruby's popped up! They had a great selection of books and their Children's section was very adorable - I had to practically drag my daughter out of the store! It seemed like the books cost whatever was listed as the original price on the back of the book - so nothing was really marked down. We did walk away with 3 different books for my daughter though! I used to really love Ruby's but recently I witnessed some harmful behavior from ownership that concerns me.... As a small business supporter and book lover, I would hope that the owner and manager of Ruby's would offer the community (especially the queer community) respect, kindness, and care... but that hasn't been the case. They have created personal and financial hardships for multiple employees while treating them with disrespect. Absolutely loved this book shop! I came here to kill some time while in the area and had not been here before. The shop is so beautiful, well organized, they have tons of genres and options for everyone, amazing staff, and a wonderful atmosphere. The shop is full of books, totes, bookmarks, stickers etc. and they have a section for kids to sit and read. I spent quite some time trying to decide on what books to buy, I ended up buying a couple along with some stickers for my friends and I. Money well spent in my opinion! Ruby's Books has been on my bookmark list for a very long time and I was happy I was able to make it here during Winter Break. This bookstore deserves a 5/5 because of how organized it is, how nice the employees are and the selection they have. When you walk in, you are instantly welcomed with recommendations, seasons picks and merchandise you just have to have. I was drawn to the pins and coasters immediately. I then went to the books. The employees are extremely nice. They circulated the store and checked in with the customers often. At checkout, they made sure to get to know their customers by asking questions based on what the customers bought. For instance, I got Fourth Wing merch and the kind lady informed me about their upcoming release day. From travel to romantasy, this store has something for everyone. In addition to books, they carry greeting cards, toys, art prints, and knick knacky gifts with a local flair. The place is decorated in a modern farmhouse style giving it a bright n cozy feel. The staff is welcoming and helpful. If you cannot find a book on the shelf, they can check inventory and order it for you. Plus the shop hosts a variety of book clubs in different literary genres. With COVID going on I felt safe they have lots of space in the store have hand sanitizers right at the door when you walk in and require masks in the store. This place is so cute! You are greeted by Ruby the sweetest doggo and who is the shop is named after. I love how they feature local artists that sell goods like stickers, art etc. They have so many books of all genres. I wanted so many books when I was in there. The ladies that work here were so sweet and nice! They also give you a discount if you have your receipt from reset coffee across the street. This is one of my favorite bookstores in the Sacramento region. I visit every time I'm in Folsom, and if I lived closer I would probably come here ALL the time. I've always felt very welcomed when I come into the store. It's has a cozy vibe but is large enough to have most fiction and nonfiction books that I'm looking for from sci fi and romance to psychology and cookbooks. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and the selection is very diverse and well thought out. I very much appreciate that they carry authors of color in every section. The street parking can be tight on the weekends, but I always manage to snag a spot. read more

The store is a beautiful open space, with every genre labelled clearly (which I appreciated, since my head was swimming with all the options). I found this wonderfully charming bookstore on a whim after getting my hair done and checking Google for the nearest bookstore. I absolutely loved this little bookstore. Not only is it impeccable from an aesthetic perspective, the staff are so incredibly delightful, and I'm not just talking about Ruby the dog greeter. So warm and welcoming. I could have stayed and lived in this store. I was also so impressed by the book selection, with the limited space of an indie bookstore (not being a cavernous B&N for example) the bookstore owners are being so intentional with their collection.
