Fantastic local gymnastics place. Just threw a triple 5th birthday here for my daughter and her two best friends and it was perfect. Gigi the owner was great to work with from the start. Her staff, Reese and Brooklyn, were wonderful and very good with the kids and parents. The facility is clean, safe, and really fun. The area in the back is spacious and extremely functional for parties. There is a fridge and freezer for party needs and two large tables and 4 benches for parties. Lots of counter spaces and additional benches along the walls with small round tables and little stools for more seating. Lots of cute decor already up for birthdays if you don't have anything. Will definitely consider this place again for future parties and highly recommend this place for gymnastics classes and parties! read more

We threw a birthday party for our four-year-old and his four-year-old friend. The new venue for Ruby's tumbling is amazing. The facilities are bright and clean. The party was spectacular. We had over 30 kids and all their parents there. There is plenty of space for everyone. Great venue for a birthday party; you only have to bring food and cake. They take care of everything else! I do love this place and for so many reasons but I guess the pillar of it all is that my girls enjoy going, love attending and look forward to returning. This place is a super well oiled machine, run smoothly and seamlessly by the people in charge (Ruby and Gigi). Thank je equipment is specific well maintained and everything is super clean. There is a no none sense approach yet in a safe and nurturing environment . I first came across this place from word of mouth for the night care that runs from 5.30pm to 9 pm - no parents can stay and it is bliss for all involved. I have now enrolled my youngest to the weekly gym class which offer great flexibility as she can attend either Thursday afternoon session or the Saturday morning one as long as she does 4 sessions over a month. My son and I showed up for a drop in without reserving a spot and were initially welcomed but when it came time for my 3 year old to do a more challenging obstacle course, he opted to use the bathroom with my help. As we came back to join the group, I tried to help him walk on a balance beam and was told very sternly and loudly that they don't welcome parent participation and that I was ruining the class (potentially it meant that the rhythm of the class and concentration was thrown off). I contacted the owner via their online portal and told her that I would not return. In response, I learned that she has been running a successful business for 30 years and does not need to be told how to run her gym (potentially meaning that she doesn't welcome any feedback). I don't agree with the motor leaning methods that they use. It is very authoritarian and it doesn't work for my family. read more

My daughter has been absolutely loving her gymnastics class. I am so grateful for the ways it is increasing her confidence for the fun things her body can do like somersaults and cartwheels. My son loves his classes here and looks forward to it every week and I love it as well. I was worried my son might be too big but he fits right in. The facility is clean, very open, and conveniently at the beginning/entrance of Alameda so you don't have to deal with the traffic going in especially on Park St. There's a lot of street parking too which is a huge plus. Ruby and Gigi are super sweet and very friendly. Gigi is an amazing instructor and she is so good with the kids it's amazing to see that bc I could never do that - I have no patience for it unfortunately. Also, it is so affordable!! My daughter just had her 4th birthday party at Ruby's and we had an excellent experience! Ruby's is open for small parties and private rental. The price is very reasonable and the facility was spotless. They provided hand sanitizer, hand washing station, everyone wore a mask, and there was plenty of space to spread out. We had a great time and Gigi was so kind and and helpful. She interacted with every parent and child and the whole experience flowed nicely. I highly recommend Ruby's! read more

Brought my 1-year-old here for her first ever tumbling class with the Itsy Bitsy group. Ruby was friendly and very patient. My daughter was the youngest of the group but was able to explore and interact with other children in a completely safe and clean environment. I just started going with my 3 year old son, Max, a month ago and could not recommend this class more. They get some cardio (get the wiggles out) then do an obstacle course that differs weekly. Both Ruby and Gigi know all the kids by name, and have a perfect blend of expecting the kids to listen, give help only when they need it, encourage them, and have a caring sense of humor. My husband and I brought our 21-month-old daughter here for the Itsy Bitsy class they have on Saturday mornings. We weren't totally sure what to expect, and didn't get much in the way of guidance when we got there. That said, all the other parents were welcoming and helpful, and clearly had been there regularly. Once class got going, though, we quickly came to understand that Ruby's most appealing characteristic is that she's no coddler. As one dad said, she kind of manhandles 'em - and they love it. She hustles the kids into doing tasks that I thought were way beyond my toddler's ability, mostly just by acting as though it's all the most natural thing in the world. "Of COURSE you can climb a wooden ladder two and a half times your height, cross the top, and climb back down the other side." Then she just grabs their little feet and guides them into the right positions, and moves on like it ain't no thang. The kids take her cues, and are pretty much fearless. Everything's perfectly safe, since there are layers of thick cushy padding everywhere. I just never thought that a kid who is only just getting the hang of walking would manage to cross the rungs of a horizontal ladder, or make her way along a balance beam. Ruby clearly likes and cares about the kids, and enjoys her time teaching them. What's more, she obviously knows just what she can ask of them, and they all seem to rise to and genuinely enjoy the challenges. I can't wait to start bringing my daughter back. I'm only knocking off a star because I wish the drop-in rate were more affordable, and that class wasn't quite so full. The other stuff people mention doesn't really matter to me. Is the equipment new and fancy, and does it smell like fresh-cut grass in there? Nah. Do they sell lattes and incense at a front desk? Nope. Does my daughter leave happy and confident (and ready for an epic nap)? You betcha! read more

I brought my daughter here for the advanced tots class. Class was 1 hour long, and had about 20 kids. She enjoyed it very much. But there was only 1 teacher for the 20 kids. Although my daughter didn't need much help, but some of the others clearly needed it. I can see the teacher struggling to keep the class in order. Some kids were not following the rules and some could not complete some of the exercises. They should really limit their class sizes or increase the teachers in large classes. read more

My 2yr old daughter loves Ruby's and looks forward to going every week. Since we started about 6 months ago she's gotten a lot more confident in her own body and is way more adventurous with the kind of things she tries now (balance beams/ladders/rope swings etc). It's a bit manic some weeks with the kids free to run around and try what they want, but I think that's partly why it's so good. Open play is fun. The facilities are great. The location is pretty nice, being close to Park St. For kids getting a little older (4+), this might not be the place for them. Seems most of the attention is on the little kids who aren't paying attention than the older kids who listen and can actually learn. read more

My daughter has been enjoying classes at Ruby's Tumbling since February 2016. She just turned 3 on June 3rd. Now, after several months enjoying regular weekly classes at the Pee Wee level, she has graduated to the Pre-Tot level. I so enjoyed participating with her on all of the routines associate with the Pee Wee class and missed doing this at the beginning of her Pre-Tot class but now I can really see her shine! She is following direction from her teacher and much more independent. She is participating in all of the exercises and is so excited to do so. The owners of Ruby's Tumbling are wonderful! Ms. Ruby and her daughter Ms. Gigi as well as Ms. Gigi's teenage daughter assistants are such a great team to have teaching all of these classes! They are positive yet firm and this is what a young child needs, in my opinion, to help foster confidence and learn new skills. The facility is lovely. It is a large open space that is fully visible from where parents wait and watch the classes. Lots of natural lighting and fresh air. The bathroom is brand new and always sparkling clean. I really appreciate that, as it is hard to bring little ones to the bathroom, but this feels like home. The equipment is very high quality and well maintained. I look forward to each week going to Ruby's tumbling. Every week my daughter looks forward to her class. My three year old has a class that is all her own (while her older sister has ballet at another location) that helps her gain better body movement and coordination, helps her to work alongside her classmates, follow direction, and most of all have fun!!! I found Rubies while scrolling for multiple places that can give me and my hubby a break. And with 3 kiddos....this is the only place I stumbled upon that easy able to take all 3 kids for a reasonable price and the kids enjoyed themselves. They got to run around and play and learn about tumbling even my smallest girl age 20 months enjoyed herself. That 3 hours really helped. Ruby was down to earth and great at keeping the little ones busy. It was not too many kids for the Night care and seemed to work out wonderfully for the time I needed to get away for a short time. Definitely was trustworthy with my kids even though it was the first time there. I normally dont leave the kids with ANYONE but this is a place I will come back too and will recommend! read more

Not what I expected at all. When I first walked in, I noticed a weird smell. The place looks old and dingy, a little run down. My kids went here for a birthday party. The place had a bunch of mats on the floor and a few equipments to play with. For only an hour of play and another hour for refreshments, it is not worth the price. Plus the area for refreshments reminds me of a basement, very low ceiling and dim. read more

We've come on different days of the week with both teachers and they're both great and it's really easy to come on a different day when we need to make up a class we missed. Classes are OK, nothing special. But as previous reviewer mentioned, they cram as many kids as they can into a class. Mine had over 20, with one instructor. It was pretty ridiculous. I suppose I would have minded less if it were reasonably priced, but it's $18 for 45 minutes. My daughter, now almost 4, has been going to Ruby's since she was about a year old. I didn't realize how exceptional this place is until we started doing lessons at other places-- dance lessons, soccer, the usual little kid stuff. Everything else is just kind of "meh" as compared to Ruby's. Ruby's facilities are great-- clean and bright with plenty of space, even when it's crowded. Age appropriate equipment (not all the gymnastics stuff, but perfect for the littler ones). And Ruby and her daughter Gigi (and Gigi's girls) are also great. I appreciate the non-coddling approach Ruby and Gigi take with the kids (I know it's not for everyone, but my kid really responds to it). My daughter really looks forward to her weekly lessons and is always reluctant to leave. I love the motor development and confidence she's gained. The cost of lessons is reasonable, particularly compared to other stuff, and there are no costumes/uniforms to purchase. read more
